  1. I’m personally trading Heeney. Here’s why:

    1. I traded Lambert and Hibberd at a similar time last year and never regretted it. I know Heeney is a step up from those two but if Horse isn’t throwing him in the midfield he can’t score to his fullest potential.

    2. Sydney are notoriously bad at reporting on their injuries. I don’t trust them saying that it’s a minor thing and he’ll be right soon. Remember how in the dark everyone was last year with how injured Buddy really was?

    3. Even if he does bounce back, I can get him back in at a reduced price later on in the season. Worst case scenario I’m down a trade or two, and even though that’s not ideal, it’s also not the end of the world.

So yeah, I can see why people are holding him, and up until a few days ago I was too, but as of now I’m trading him down to Worpel, trading Atkins up to LDU and banking the rest of the cash for a future upgrade. I understand this may be controversial, but I think it works best for my team.

    1. I totally agree. Was holding Heeney but the the opportunity arose to trade for Lloyd via dpp on Burgess convinced me to trade. Lloyd will give me 30 points more per game and there are too many unknowns with Heeney….M.

      1. This is an interesting question. Before the season started he was a stepping stone but now, if he can keep an average above 90 then I think he is an F6. Forwards are doing particularly bad so far. Boak has never been in this territory before and with Wines and Hartlett to return I am not sure he can keep his current average. I would take a punt on Worpel. Cheers…..M

      2. With Titch out for probably the whole year I can see Worpel averaging 90+ comfortably. He should have two 100+ scores for the year but with two interchange spots filled early due to injury last week he was absolutely gassed by the end of the game.

  2. I’m holding Heeney and here is why. Nearly 18K trade outs. If this keeps up I will have a PoD
+ you know as soon as you trade out a premo they pull out a +100 score
    Don’t have Dusty!

  3. For me its a hold for Heeney and a bye-bye for Dusty.

Seems fair to assume that Heeney will avg no less than 85 from here on out, and Dusty 95.

Assuming the worst, That puts Heeney around 10 pts below what i’d expect from a premo forward. Dusty on the other hand is about 20 pts below what i’d expect from a premo mid.

Seeing that he is in the most important/valuable position in SC there is signficantly lower margin for error in Dusty’s case. Subsequently i’d be looking to offload.

In Heeney’s case he should be able to hold M5/6 value even if his ankle is the problem it appears to be.

    1. I’ve decided that $560k is too much for someone who might end up as M8. Better to downgrade to one of the out performing mid pricers who may be an M8 keeper, or upgrade to M1-M4 Uber premo and throw away the key.

  4. I have both, been to’in and fro’in all week.

Trading Martin > Bont. Had them rotating that M4 for me all pre-season and ill put it down to the wrong pick. Martin may come good post-bye but I if that happens there is probably going to be another 6-8 midfielders scoring the same, if not better, so no big loss if I don’t have him.

Holding Heeney. High ceiling and if he overcomes his injury, gets more mid time, the scoring potential is there. I think if I traded Heeney, come post-byes again, I would be trying to get him back in. I find him harder to replace (besides T.Kelly I don’t think there’s much upside elsewhere)

  5. Trading Heeney to Kelly, just because I think Kelly is a real gun and might be hard to pick up later, whereas Horse clearly has no issues with playing Heeney fwd. Luxury trade, I know, but Rd 3 allows you to get the guns in.

  6. Have both, holding both. Heeney is simply a great player who will constantly to and from in form yet average out to score 100+. Martin scores poorly when being tagged by greenwood as he always has, and yet still scored a 109 in the week before after a “poor game”. The bloke hasn’t scored a goal yet, and yet I’m still sticking with my prediction that he will be a top 10 mid

  7. I have both and can see why people are looking to trade, but we are two rounds in and
I’m happy to gather some more evidence.
It may seem a bit conservative but I would be really kicking myself if whoever I traded them for bombs or worse for them suffers LTI.
Some may say you need to take some risks , but I didn’t take the risk on Gawn , Grundy or Oliver after round 1.

  8. I’m a little confused with all the Heeney panic…

In RD1 he was by far the best player on the field to 1/4 time and then faded as Sydney did. Posted 85 points which is reasonable for a down game. Then this week only scored 67 but spent 65% of the time outside the forward 50. Hopefully he can post a few 90s and low 100s until his ankle heals which should be 2-3 weeks and then he should average 100 from then on, finishing the season with a 97 average as expected…

  9. I have bigger priorities this week (Parker and LDU in), but if he doesn’t show anything on the weekend there’s a good chance he becomes Whitfield next week.

  10. I’ve got both and have decided to pull the trigger on both. I kept a small war chest to correct any mid-price mistakes but they are doing ok.

So instead I will lock in 2 Uber premos :

    Dusty to Neale
Heeney to Lloyd (via Moore dpp)

    Bang bang and no regrets.

  11. I have Heeney & don’t have dusty,
personally i’d be more worried about an uber premo (Martin) ave 87
than a forward (Heeney) ave 76
I have a lot of respect for Heeney, he looks like a school kid, but he’s as tough as nails, super competitive and I honestly believe he will come out this weekend and belt out 100 plus, and 18,000+ coaches will bemoan the age old saying, don’t trade out a premo to chase points.

I could be wrong but like every coach in supercoach you have to nail your own flag to the mast, make some hard decisions that are 50/50 calls and you just hope and pray you made the right one.

As an aside i’m sitting on my freshly finished deck, family out and about,
Got given a slab of Asahi super dry (my new favourite beer) so sitting here having a few beers and some quality supercoach talk time.

  12. Had planned on giving both at least one more week to show they can turn it around but the more I think about it I’m thinking maybe I should actually trade both of them. No corrective rookie trades needing to be done and Sheed and Kelly are looking like must haves that I don’t have atm.

Thumbs up: Heeney to Kelly and Martin to Sheed
Thumbs down: Give both another chance

  13. I’m holding Heeney for many of the reasons noted above.
Should I go Dusty > Neale?

Neale was in my original line up and swapped him for Dusty at the last minute . Really unhappy with my decision at this point…..

  14. For me,
Heeney had to go for all the reasons mentioned above.
    Ridley as well unfortunately!
Have gone Heeney to Lloyd and Ridley to Duursma.
    Never an ideal situation but…..
    Que Sera Sera!

  15. Some opinions please on whether to offload heeney..

    OPTION 1: TU

    Hore to scrimshaw

    OPTION 2: TD

  16. JPK interview april 4 on Heeneys’ niggling injury “On a whole i think it is something that can turn around pretty quickly..if he puts his hand up and says he is right to play than that is what we expect from him..one game and a bit of confidence and he will be hitting the ground running”

If Joey Kennedy is confident in Isaac turning his form around so am I.

It’s a season lock for me.
