Poll – Is Angus Brayshaw worth the risk?

Written by Thommo on June 1 2018

Slatts  has asked the question whether Angus Brayshaw is the real deal? At $422.9k, Brayshaw is playing through the midfield and he’s available as a defender so he’s undoubtedly good value!

But sadly, Brayshaw is like a ticking time bomb. He has suffered so many concussions that another head knock could see him out for weeks. Fingers crossed that never happens again to the poor bloke!

So how about it coaches?

Are you bringing Angus Brayshaw in to your backline?

  1. I would love to get him. Top draft pick who appears to be having a breakout in a team that is flying.
Sadly, the risk of a repeat head knock is just a bit too much when you consider other, safer options.
Such a shame as I love the way he goes about it.

  2. Tempted. Yes the concussion risk is there, but name a player without injury concerns at this time of year.
The DPP status is the big attraction, as he sets up the swing with O’Connor (still got him) and, at worst, could be a very useful D7/M9.
I’ll probably chicken out and get Simpson, but I’m thinking…

    1. When you put it like that Chillo, I’m seriously tempted. I love his bye too. Will likely go up over $30k this week with a BE of 19.
Three trades this week would be very helpful.

  3. He’s in for me, but it’s more so come down to avoiding a donut now. I wanted Walters & Smith but Howe out has threw my plans into disarray.
I just figure for the same price as Walters I can get Brayshaw. Is he a risk? Absolutely, but not more than Walters I believe

  4. Grabbed him in my draft league but he is hard to justify in classic due to opportunity cost. Def seems to be firing this year for premiums.

    1. He’s averaging 101+ since he’s been playing genuine MID-time. There are only six genuine premo DEFs doing better than that, but none can match his price.

        1. So how many of those D’s that you have PJ are rookies?
I also have five but only Oliver and Gawn are premos, the others will be gawn before finals come around, unless T Smith can continue his ridiculous streak (which I doubt).
Both tend to go better against tougher oppo and Gawn scores higher away anyway. Not too concerning methinks.

  5. A bit off topic, but not sure where to post.
With the byes, if you have a player on field score 0 and an emergency that scores say 60, would that 60 points count towards your best 18? Or do your best 18 only count if they are on the field?
I forget every year haha. Cheers

    1. That 60 would count provided it was a top18 score and assuming that 0 you had was from somebody not playing (as opposed to playing get injured and scoring 0)

  6. He looks like a trap but a few players this year have looked like traps then delivered. Webster, Ed Curnow and Jesse Hogan, Darling and Luke Ryan being prime examples. The conservative part of me says he can’t keep it up.0

  7. Natural footballer now getting a good run at it, will be a star and keep looking at how to get him in but this week has to many better options which probably means i will miss the boat.

  8. Took a chance on Brayshaw at the start of the year, rode out his missed games early, so hopefully he pays me back..
