Poll – It’s A Wonderful Fyfe

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 4 2018

Last week it was Adam Treloar……this week it’s Nat Fyfe.  The Freo Champion tweaked his hammy last Sunday and is unofficially (till now) expected to miss up to a month of footy.  That leaves a huge gap in our midfields considering Fyfe is in 56.7% of all teams.

I’ll leave some of the popular names out of this poll such as: Tom Mitchell 66.3%, Patrick Cripps 43.6%, Clayton Oliver 25%, Patrick Dangerfield 38% , Dustin Martin 53.4% & Josh Kelly 19%.

Players are in order of pts scored this season and are shown with their current price and level of ownership…………..

    1. I like Duncan as an option, very consistent. My concern is whether Scott Sellwood may come in and reduce his midfield time a little.

  1. I don’t have Westhoff so will be considering him as a Fyfe replacement, mainly owing to his FWD/MID versatility. Especially with Heeney most likely out this week, it gives me another option of moving Heeney to the Mid bench where I have more cover.

  2. Any thoughts on Luke Shuey? Playing in a good team that will be charging toward the finals and are near unbeatable when at home (provided they have a forward line).

Considering going Fyfe > Shuey +$212,000 and loopholing him with Rockliff for the rest of the year to provide some mid cover. The extra funds will be used to make adjustments for the league finals to bring in that player who is flying or get rid of that guy who isn’t delivering (looking at you Dusty).

    Thoughts?

  3. Already have crouch so have narrowed my choice down the following:
T/u j kelly, costs more but safer pick
    T/d jpk, 50k cheaper

  4. Coaches,

I’m in head to head comp with a hefty prize pool between mates, so that’s my focus.

Is it worth holding Fyfe till SC finals?

T/U Hold, Fyfe is life come finals
T/D Trade, FURL will be FURL and not play him

    Thanks coaches you ledges

    1. I’d advocate for trade as he’s out 4-5 weeks apparently, and who knows if he comes back 100%. Only 8 weeks left including GF

I think though it really depends on your current position on the ladder, and how many trades you have left. If you think you can get to finals with him on your bench though and you think he’ll come out firing, He’d be a pretty sweet POD to have for your finals match-ups and an extra trade up your sleeve. Until then though you’ll be on the backfoot as most will trade him.

        1. Maybe worth a hold then, although say he is out for 5 weeks, 5 weeks from now is round 20, first week of finals so you wont want him on the bench then. Also if Freo aren’t pushing for top 8, I doubt they’d be rushing Fyfe back unless he was 100%

      1. Makes sense jello. i’m comfortable on top of ladder with 8 trades left, Heeney on bench and 22 onfield this week. I’m gonna hold off on trading Fyfe for the moment and see what my near rivals do…I can also avoid trading for someone who might do a hammy !! If you aren’t locked in for finals, a fyfe trade is a no brainer.

    2. Depends how many trades you have left. I play for league too, but I’ve only got 3 trades left. I’m just going to play Fritsch on field to cover Fyfe for however long he’s out.

    3. I’m thinking of keeping Fyfe also but I might trade jack higgins to Shuey as cover what do you think?

  5. 8 trades left. Needing to replace Fyfe and do two upgrades until full premium team. Which recruiting option is best?

UP – Bring in Crouch, Gaff and Lloyd over next two weeks (leaving 5 trades for LTI and finals)
DN -Bring in Crouch, JPK (or Neale), a rookie downgrade for cash, and Lloyd (4 trades for LTI and finals)

    Thoughts?

  6. So does Walters get more MID time with Fyfe out? Thinking of going Fyfe-Crouch and Banfield-Walters to complete team.

    TU – good options
TD – not so good options

  7. Trading FYFE out Bring in SHUEY as bench sitter ( already have my 8 premiums) Mitchel/Kelly/Ganger/M Crouch/ Cognilo / Cripps/Oliver/Merrett – then upgrade GILES LANGDON to Menengloa – to cover HEENY this week – then on bench
    Nice Plan????

  9. I went outside the Box, slipped Heeney to the mid bench and Ahern forward, traded Fyfe, subbed Westhoff to the mids, slipped Sicily to the Fwd line and bought Lloyd into the backline

        1. Cheers captain boomer, this is genius, been thinking of a way to get Lloyd in and this is the way to do it!

          Thank god for Supercoach Talk!!

  10. Trading out Fyfe for:

    T/U: Crouch (warchest: $320K)
    T/D: Kelly (warchest: $210K)

    4 trades remaining.
Would love to use the remaining money to either:
    1) Upgrade Dusty if he is still trash during finals
    2) Upgrade Sauce Jacobs if he starts playing like trash again.

    Thanks.

  11. So here’s a question for everyone:
Is it more important to replace Fyfe or would you upgrade Doedee to Lloyd (if Fyfe cover is Holman)
    Thoughts?

  12. Need thoughts:

    TU:
    Fyfe and Holman OUT
    D Smith and Heppell IN

    TD:
    Fyfe and Holman OUT
    Walters and Crouch IN

Either option leaves me with 2 trades, and only Mihocek / Mirra / ZGL to upgrade.

I can also straight swap in Lloyd / Neale etc.

  13. There is nit much love for J Kelly here. I thought he would be a no brainer and the most obvious replacement for Fyfe. Who do coaches prefer?

    T/U Kelly
    T/D Crouch

    1. I’m guessing it’s just as a lot of coaches have bought him in the last couple of weeks, so not bringing him in now. if i didn’t have him he’d be my first choice.

  14. I’m thinking if most of our players are relatively equal, for a POD in determining who to select in this forum, I’ll try to get the player who’s team have the easier scoring potential in the next 8 rounds (although I’m assuming I’ll be having a bye on round 22).

Here is a link to the ‘hardness’ scale I’m referring to:
    https://twitter.com/CalvinDT/status/1013730477507670016/photo/1

Of all the teams, I think Carlton, Roos, Port (no one interests me), WCE and Richmond (no one here either) seem to have the easier final 8 team line up (especially during finals), I’d consider players like Cripps, Higgins, Gaff and E Curnow.

As I already have Cripps and E Curnow’s output has been tending to be a bit on the lower side, I’m going to go with either Higgins as a POD player (he will have two hard rounds (17 and 19) but the rest are ok) or Gaff as he tends to have a reasonable run with my main danger game is round 2 of the finals (and me assuming the bye).

    1. With the injuries to Sydney from last night it makes my Higgins choice a lot more tempting now as Nth Plays Syd next week.

  15. Fyfe and Holman out for Heppell and Westoff, leaves 4 trades and Full Premo, one more trade next week to bring Heeney back into the fwd line. Then hang on for dear life!!

    1. Love the left field pick in Heppell. he’s been very consistent and is at the forefront of essendons turn around in form. I’ve been looking at guys around Heppells price. Curious too about Taylor Adams and Dayne Beams as POD’s

      1. Some great calls for PODs. There are no right or wrong answers … we’ll know come the end of the season won’t we?! 🙂

        1. Exactly mate! Obviouly this is shit for Nat Fyfe, but from a fantasy perspective its making everyone think outside of the box a little, its going to result in bigger score variances and better opportunity to climb the ranks

    1. I think you cant go too wrong with either. I think Olivers BE is like 160 or something, so depending on your cicumstances, if you wait a week you’ll potentially be able to get him for a good discount
