Poll – Made A Bad Gaff

Written by Schwarzwalder on August 7 2018

He was in 15% of teams before the weekend………now Andrew Gaff needs to go.  At this stage of the season, many Coaches barely have trades let alone some extra cash in the bank.  Who would you say is the best value MID as a replacement for Andrew Gaff?  Which of the following players would you bring in if you didn’t have much cash behind you?

Who is the best value replacement for Andrew Gaff (WCE)? (three choices)

  1. Crouch if you want 110 every week.
Selwood if you need a high ceiling from a POD and want to take a risk. He gets targeted quite a bit now as he can be tagged quite easily with his lack of pace but they need to win every game and he will be going all out from here on in.

  2. Mitch Duncan?
3 round average of 108, season average of 107, scored 136 last time against Gold Coast, who Geel play in SC grand final week. I’m leaning more towards him than J Selwood, as I always expect him to be “rested” this time of year. Does anyone have last years stats on whether he did have a week off at the tale end of the season???

    1. Apart from being injured last year, Jelwood hasn’t missed the of the season in 6 years.

Love Duncan though. He’s the safer and more consistent option of the two but Jelwood more likely to go big. Depends what you want.

      1. At this point, I’d just be happy to trade in a player that will play out the season – my last 4 trades have been replacing Savage, Sicily, Bont & Fyfe. And now Gaff FFS!

    1. 8 weeks is nothing , just a paid holiday ,
a red card would have done nothing also with the Eagles up by 40 pts ,
of course Gaff has done what all violent offenders do & said I’m sorry
& that he meant to hit him in the chest , as if that makes any difference ,
shouldn’t have tried to hit him at all , it’s footy not boxing
WA police haven’t even charged him with assault , even though the ball was 100m away from him ,
maybe they want that WC premiership flag up on the wall of their police station,
Brayshaw should sue Gaff but probably wont ,
it looks like our violent society is here to stay ,
& the violent people are still enjoying our pro violence legal system ,
maybe 1 day the violent perpetrators in society will come off worse than their injured victims ,
I’d like to see that ….

      1. It is sad that Gaff’s standard practice was punch people in the chest before getting a head start towards a contest. This time it went horribly wrong.
Gaff got off very lightly. Consider which you would prefer, to get 8 weeks ban from work, or to be punched in the face with enough force to knock out teeth, break the jaw and not know how many of the 5 damaged teeth are even going to take again? Yes, Gaff got off lightly. The fact that 1/3 of WA now hates him is probably worse.

        1. I doubt he would care less what the average Joe thinks of him ,
He gets to drive his prestige car back to his million dollar home & sit down to a nice glass of red with his meal ,
Meanwhile , young Brayshaw eats through a straw & hopes for no permanent damage , now or in the future ..

    1. Better than Hanners. Why would we want to trade in another injury-prone has-been, and give him a three-year contract to sit on the pine til he retires?!

  3. Taylor Adams is an option.

Less than 1% ownership, averaging 107 since Treloar has gone down and 114 in his last 3. Has BL, PTA and FRE in the next three. Thoughts?
