Poll – Missing Danger

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 23 2018

The teams were announced on Thursday evening and there was one notable absentee from the Sunday afternoon game………Patrick Dangerfield.  It seems the hamstring injury hasn’t quite come up for this weekend but the club expects him to play on Easter Monday against the Hawks.

Starting tactics have been the big issue over the last few days at SCT.  Should we save a trade and loophole Dangerfield with a rookie for Rd1? (Jack Graham would’ve been handy in hindsight!).  Or should we start without Dangerfield and hope for a price drop as he works his way back into form?  Let us know which option you started with………

Will you start the season with Dangerfield?

  1. I know he’ll still score well, but I just think with the advent of Ablett in the side there will be numerous other options to pick. The hammys a definite concern, so if that goes ping early in a game then that score will stay in his 3 rnd ave for him to drop 100k .
Soft tissue injuries shit me !!! Would like to pick him up around round 6-7 at 600k- 650k. Chillo you made me laugh with your Pendles parable! Father what would Danger need to ave to be in the low 6’s by round 7?

    1. Dropped Danger for Dusty, happy with the handy 278 from Dusty, will keep the status quo & see how it goes.

    2. I figure it out and post here tomorrow morning before the Saturday games. I sort of have to catch up on real life things such as sleep after the last week!

      1. To get down to the low 600s that fast he’d need to average about 105, and that’s assuming he plays R2. If he has a bad game early it won’t mean much, but a bad game R4 could drop him a lot if not balanced by a big score afterwards. If he misses two matches there won’t really be time for him to drop that far. The largest drops would be the early ones though, if he is consistent at 100-105s.

He’d have to put up very un-Danger like numbers to drop far and quickly.

  2. Waiting for him to drop in price. That way u get to see how the hammy holds up and u get the price drop. I’ve held some $$$ back and hoping certain mids go up in value to help bring him in.

  3. Im in the minority and have held strong and will keep him and hope for the best a rookie can get at least 70 for the week.

My reasoning being going off last years averages he outscores dusty with one game less. Now im not saying this is going to happen because theres a massive chance it wont but im prepared to take the risk and have a POD in danger!

My other reasonings were i didn’t believe i could actually strengthen my team with the extra 100k.

In saying this im not going to lie that watching dusty get 139 hurt a little considering he still looked in about second gear!

If danger comes out next week for a stinker then ive shot myself in the foot but im hoping for the best!

    1. He outscores dusty from one game less up until round 9 that is*

8×136 for danger was 1088 points
      9 x 120 for dusty was 1080

All depends on how danger comes back and if his scoring 150’s or starts slow

    2. I’m going for a similar position but I’m going to let my emergency decide. If Barry/Banfield can get about 80+ I’m gonna take him. If not then he will become TMitch.

      1. Yea thats the smart thing to do. I already have mitchell so if my emergency throws in a shocker then i might even have to consider gaz as a risk !

  4. Happy to be less trade happy and burn 2 come rd 6-8
Do we know how much he needs to average the first 3 games to not drop 50-80k the following 2-3 weeks?

    1. I think owning danger we have to accept that he is gonna drop money but its the added points we get that makes having him an advantage.

I think people forget that the other premiums that they select over danger are also likely to lose coin as well. How much is the question

    2. Should Dangerfield score a consistent 120 in first five games his starting price for round 5 would be approximately $720,000 , round 6 $695,000 and round 7 $675,000.

  5. My understanding is he had back issues which restricted preseason and then he did a hammy in his first game. If this is the case this is concerning for me.

The question is will he play rd2? And if he plays will he get hurt again? Risky imo.

I am considering swapping Danger to Libba (and keeping the cash in the bank). I think Libba will score very well and rise in price. Once Danger has two games or so under his belt I will trade Danger in. I focus on leagues so not concerned with overall so much.

My other option is Parker who looks to be in great form.

    1. I decided to downgrade him to Devon Smith. Yes, I know I am the only person with Smith not in my team. Anyway, hopefully Smith can score well and get a few price rises before I bring Danger back.

  6. I downgraded him to coniglio. Currently have 200k in bank so hoping either coniglio or jack graham appreciate in cash quickly and danger drops a bit due to recovering from injury to make swap after rd 5 or 6.
Have dusty and fyfe in team so hoping they can be my permacaptain till danger is traded in.

  7. Going to wait for a rookie score.
Cash generation will be hard this year.
If I downgrade him it will be to omera. With his price rise and dangers fall(hopefully) will get extra cash in bank ready for byes.
I don’t want to downgrade him to a keeper.
I have chosen this course because I already have dusty and Mitchell.

  8. Holding danger for now wait for Barry/banfield to play if they absolutely stink it I’ll trade to the GOAT, the little master. He will be back to 120+ this season if he stays on the park. Or Selwood. He will play pure midfield this season with danger and Ablett rotating fwd.

  9. No, not because I don’t trust his hamstring, but because I trust Father Dougal’s prior analysis on this.
