Poll – Missing Rookies

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 5 2019

There were a number of requests in the Polling Station regarding rookies and their job security/prospects.  Now that we know who has/hasn’t been named for Rd3, we’re in a better position to make a decision.

Marty Hore (MEL) has been unable to force his way back into the Demons line up despite injury to Steven May (reported to be out for 2-3 weeks).  Should we offload Hore for a rookie that is getting game time?

Jordan Ridley caught the eye over the JLT Series with two solid games at half-back.  After playing in Rd1 (definitely wasn’t the worst), Ridley was dropped for Rd2 and hasn’t been sighted for Rd3.  Time to move him on for a cheaper rookie that is actually playing?

Let us know in the polls below………..

What action should be taken with Jordan Ridley (ESS)?

    1. McCarthy will score more but Rozee is more likely to make more money, especially over the shorter term. I’d be saving the 57k and grabbing Rozee, nice DPP too.

      1. Scratch that. I thought I saw McCarthy had picked up a knock but so far he’s been named on field and there’s nothing on the AFL injury report.

    1. never know , Clarko is the master , he’s a big young unit & an early draft pic , Clarko might just give him a run in the guts this week with Burger & Shiels going down , i’m backing him in for a big one

  1. I think both will get their chance again but Ridley is too expensive to have sitting on the pine at this stage of the season. Will downgrade him to Scrimshaw or Rozee.

    1. I did exactly that which allowed Watson to LDU…was going to keep watson as second c loop but ldu going up 150k too good to refuse !!

  2. I’ve got Hore, but I’ve already got Clark, Scrimshaw, Collins, Duursma, and Moore (in forward line though), so there’s not really anyone to trade him to. I’ve also managed to start with all the decent forward rookies too, so I can’t even swing Moore into defence and pick up a forward.
So it’s either I hold Hore or trade him to a speculative rookie like Wilkie or Burgess.

  3. Only decent rookies I don’t have are Wilkie, Schulz and Rozee, is it worth trading Hore out to Wilkie or Schulz? I’m thinking I’ll hold but really undecided.
Haven’t used a trade yet and I have seen that Scrimshaw is named for Box Hill which I don’t know if this usually happens with Sunday teams but it is a little worrying.

    1. It’s quite common for Sunday extended bench players be named in the VFL. Happened numerous times last year, especially with some of Melbournes nailed best 22.

  4. I’ve got Hore and while I’d love to correct him, there’s no-one standing out.

I have all the decent DEF/FWD rookies so the only options are Wilkie or Schultz.

TU – Hore to a Wilkie or Schultz
TD – not worth it, hold

    1. I asked the same question last night and got 4 thumbs up and 7 thumbs down, so I’d say the general consensus is not to do that trade….. that said. I’m still considering it

  5. I dont have drew, noticed wines was coming back in. Is it a good idea to move hore into drew at this point? Given a trade is worth around 130k.

    Tu yeah
    Td nah

    1. Put the VC on a player who plays before your loophole player. If you like their score, put loophole player on the field with the C. Because your loophole player doesn’t play, your VC score gets doubled. Make sure you have an EMG on bench to score in place of your loophole player. If you didn’t like your VC score, put loophole player back on bench and give someone else a crack with the C.

This works best with a loophole player who has more games on Sat/Sun, as it gives you more VC options. Just remember your loophole player needs to play after your VC. Once your loophole has played, you can’t move them to the bench or field.
