Poll – Replacing Sicily

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 18 2018

The bad news has come through for the 48% of Coaches out there……..James Sicily has broken his wrist and will miss up to six weeks (basically the rest of the Supercoach season).  So who to replace him with?

The following popular choices have been left out of the poll: Yeo 41%, Simpson 37%, Laird 53% and Hurley 15%.  So which players are you targeting?

Who best to replace James Sicily (HAW) ? (three choices)

    1. Webster would be too much risk from me this late in the season. 2 groin issues in his last 3 games – no certainty to play replicate his hot streak and every chance of missing more games or re-injury.

  1. No Angus Brayshaw? Surely has to be looked at, playing almost pure midfield, and has that DEF/MID swing.
Currently a toss up between him and Crisp for me at the moment.

  2. Franklin for me. He hasn’t been amazing this year, but in the SC grand final last year I learnt first hand what he can do to you if you don’t have him.

  3. Think I’m down between Hurn vs Brayshaw. One’s high risk, high reward but the other is safe as a house and already scored 138, 130 and 104 in 3 of his next 4 opponents this year and a average of 98 against the 4th across his career.

  4. Unfortunately with my team structure and lack of cover I’m having to wait and see if Gray pulls up okay before I decide on a def or fwd to bring in. I guess TMac could just slot straight into the role, but seems to have slowed his scoring lately.

      1. They only set it before the season and don’t change it at all during the year. IIRC, it’s based on heat maps from the previous year and he played primarily in the mids last season.

            1. It’s not actually based on heat maps it’s based on the starting positions at centre bounces. I thought it was heat maps too until last year. That’s why Heeney got DPP even though his heat map was basically all midfield. Danger was 62/38 mid/fwd a couple of weeks ago and he needs at least 35% forward to be there next year so fingers crossed.

  5. TMAC certainly not the best option looking at his run home, but I feel I need to buy him to keep that swing set alive.

TU – Go with TMAC even though there are better options but have cover across two lines?
TD – Pick a better DEF player and rely on Lynch at D7 as cover

    1. yeah, i’ll probably swing him FWD via TMac first, when I do get rid of him, put Heeney where he belongs and get a MID in = more options and points you’d think.

  6. I hate to say it, but I’m most likely getting in Wingard for Sicily’s replacement. He’s been playing in the midfield the last few games and scoring well. Can’t stand the guy, but points are points and I need them.

It was either him or Westoff. Hopefully he’s a good POD

  7. Brayshaw is an interesting pick , can always swing with O’Connor in the Mids.
O’Connor has a red line through him on the SC site yet he doesn’t appear on the injury list.Has he taken his bat and ball and gone home or something?

  8. Given that he is a DPP, you could also replace him with a forward. I realise that most people have him in the backline, but there are some who don’t.

  9. Anyone else considering holding him for one week? I think I want to get Darling in as a POD but no reason getting him when his BE is 207 and I have cover.

    1. I might hold him for a couple of weeks while I have 75+ cover and only two trades left. It’s not like he will drop in value and I wanna make a double trade when I eventually do have to use them. More options = better result.

  10. I have the cash. Should I get Laird in and trade out Cole from WC with only 1 regular on the bench for coverage or should I get McCrae in and trade out Dow but have a full bench of regulars each week being Holman & Spargo?
