Poll – Sloane Ranger

Written by Schwarzwalder on May 1 2017

He’s the #1 Supercoach player after six Rounds but is owned by just 9% of teams.ย  Sloane hasn’t gone UNDER 120pts in the last five weeks and is now priced at $675 000.ย  With most Coaches struggling to find the right combination of rookies, cash generation has become a huge problem in 2017.ย  Should we go all-out to get the best player into our teams?ย  Or is an ‘average’ score just around the corner?

Should we pull out all stops to get Rory Sloane into our team?

  1. Didn’t he cop a bit of an injury at the end at the end of game?
If so that may have an effect on his scoring output for the next few weeks if it persists

    1. Copped a corkie in the third quarter and came off for a large chunk in the final quarter as they didnt need him any more.

Don’t think it’ll slow him down at all.

  2. Crows play North, Melb, Bris, Freo, Saints, Hawks & Carlton in 7 of their next 8 fixtures. A fairly friendly draw making it unlikely for Sloane to pump out a sub 80 score to negatively effect his price…

Although i hope i’m wrong because im one of the 91% who don’t have him and would love to pick him up cheaper!

    1. I hope North tag Sloane this week like they tagged Gaz last week, lol.
Seriously, stay away from Sloane though…. let me keep him as a POD.

  3. The low scores of Danger, Pendles, Rocky and Selwood in the last week or two are a good reminder to hold off and wait for his price to drop.

  4. On a side note I remember listening to SEN in the preseason when Dal Santo was rating his top 10 players in the afl. He had Sloane at no. 3 or 4, which was met with a heap of criticism. Looks like we all should’ve listened to Dal.

  5. He would have been in my starting line up if not for his fractured eye socket on the eve of the season and the memories of successive cheekbone fractures last year. I’m sure many are in the same boat.

At this stage i don’t think i can afford to bring him in at his highest price, or any other player at their highest price for that matter. There has been too many trades wasted on dodgy rookies so far, so maximising value from upgrades will be a priority.

    1. Certainly my thoughts at the start. As a Crows fan it kills me not having him and he is making me pay for the betrayal!

  6. Was going to bring him in round 3 but was swayed towards the Bont by coaches here. Lesson learnt!
Now to wait for a sub 90 score and get him

  7. Sloane is now at the point where bringing him in is a luxury. If you’re going great guns, your rookies are making cash, and you’ve got trades in the bank – go for it.

For me, he’s an option for a sideways trade after my team is done (ie. Beams to Sloane) or an injury trade if one of my other mid premos goes down for a month or more.

  8. Had him from the start but only once as capt. Crows had super early draw so thought it worth the gamble and no other so called gun in mids like dangerwood or kenneberry or trelorbury. Also the fact he’s the new Lenny. Is there anything to dislike about him other than not being at the tiges. Gun

  9. Sloane Ranger.

I got him before round 4,for $600k. His round one score ( 70 ) had not left his price cycle.
I traded out Tuohy and JOM .Allowing me to play Ottens on field.

I’ve had the V/C or C on him since.

After round three I was ranked 36K and Just made the SCT CUP cut off.

Now I’m ranked 4737โ€ฆ…(Ave score 2162),.. 62 SCT group, and looking good to make the SCT CUP round of 64

I’ve also gone 8/9 league wins 3 weeks in a row.

If Rory can keep killing it. I will have my best SC season yet!

Best trade I’ve made this yearโ€ฆโ€ฆ. by a mile.

    1. Was Sloane/Bont or Dusty for mine when I was doing corrections early on.

Ended up with Bont as I was sick of complaining about his CD love. I’m not too displeased, but it’s definitely no Sloane.

      1. I was tossing up between Bont and Sloane too.

Sloanes low ownership and huge tackle numbers really sold me.

M8 is my last spot to fill. Bont Dusty and Dependles all on the radar.

If Myers plays well, he may get it up to his bye.

This would allow me to concentrate on my very average foward line.

J Parsons only one I’m looking at this week.

  10. Would like to get him in at some stage hut currently shares the bye with too many of my other players, so a look post bye is in order. Bont I think will be my next mid.

  11. Bringing him in this week. Set in stone.

    Otten –> Rookie
    Houston –> Sloane

** I know Ill get thumbs down for trading Otten, but I want the best player in the comp, in my team **
