  1. Love a poll. Keep’em coming please Motts

Wasn’t 100% convinced last year on GG.com, but took the plunge for FOMO. After Rd1 I was slightly concerned, but then … boOOOooM!!
Locked and loaded, barring some pre-season disaster!

    1. Tell me he doesn’t come here mate?! I blocked him on the Twitter and it’s been nothing but peace & enjoyability since 😉

    1. Yep, but probably 400 pts less over the season, if Nicnat plays 20 games…when did he last do that ??? Remember, he is not a contested marking beast, albeit he does take the odd speckie. And as the great AS says, a trade is worth about $140k, so if you have to, there is a large slice of your $250k saved gone.

      1. Not suggesting he’s a keeper Wighty, but he is well under priced for someone capable of 105+. And you’re forgetting that the extra 250K doesn’t just sit there – if it gets you an extra premium mid, it at least has to be considered.

        1. I hope my post below explains it. I reckon starting nicnat puts you 400pts and at least 1 trade behind….. IF he plays 20 games.

  2. I have commented elsewhere…GRAWN gives you 19 loops via Comden and its two trades not needed. If it’s not sensible to start these two, I need someone to explain why….in pts, none of this averages nonsense.
And I will sleep well at night.

  3. One can afford to go slightly cheaper in defense this year due to the abundance of solid rookies. 1 Premo and docherty. Allowing cash for 5 Premo mids, G and G and a stacked forward line Of Whitfield, Martin and Heeney.

      1. I think we can include the likes of Williamson, Gould is making all the right noises, Rivers also. Hayden Young looks a R1 lock at freo, and S Hill is cheaper than Rowell. Others will appear during pre-seasom.

    1. Exactly….I have GG and Whitfield, Walters, Heeney, Dusty, D Smith and S Hill fwd. Defense is very light and will be d/f, d/m rookie dominated.

  4. Started Gawn/ Goldy 2019 & got sick watching Grundy go from 90 pts at 3/4 time to 140+ at full time. Rd 13 traded Goldy to Grundy who then went ballistic.
    [Shi** happens]

    LOCK Gawn/Grundy & saved 1 or 2 trades .

  5. I’ve gone with Grundy/ROB for now. Allowed Williams/Sicily/Houston
    Fyfe/Cripps/Dunkley/Bontempelli/Danger
    Whitfield/Martin/Smith

  6. So just over 11% right now are NOT going GG.com on here, yet only 66% own Brodie and 42% own Maxi in SC right now. That suggests not much more than 28% hold both.
Either that gives us a big advantage, or 62% of us are idiots 😉

  7. Would love both, but gone Grundy & O’Brien allows me other picks, if O’Brien can ave 105 to 110 I will be happy

  8. Are people that worried about Ryder taking points off Marshall because in my opinion he’s the best of the up and comers.

    1. I’m not particularly worried no. More likely mentoring and to just give him a chop out. If STK had the Rd14 bye I MIGHT have considered him, but we don’t. So I won’t.
And we’ll have the Rd12 bye until we let someone else enjoy the China experiment 🙁

Keep banging on about it, but I just can’t go past GG.com.

Using stats, proj’d scores, BEs and maximising the cash saved spent elsewhere, I’ve tried to justify Rd14 RUCs with a view to trading them to the one you don’t have AFTER Rd13, but so much has to go right with zero margin for error, it’s just not worth it. You will either:
      1. Not make enough cash to make the move in 1 trade, or
      2. Not make up the points deficit onfield, or
      3. Your RUC doesn’t price-peak at the right time to make the trade, or
      4. Any combination(s) of the above.
The scores you’ll need from Goldy, ROB, Sauce or English are simply unrealistic AND spending that saved cash wisely to cover both the onfield points deficit and the cost of a trade just don’t make sense. If they score enough to become a genuine keeper, then that’s different, but you are asking them to do what Grundy did in 2018. History says it just won’t happen. Like I said. EVERYTHING has to go right while nothing goes wrong.
If I have time next week, I will try and put something together to explain it all more clearly. But really, I’d simply lock them in and enjoy the ride. Let’s face it, if one of them gets injured there’ll be a lot of people in the same boat and hopefully by then, we will know who the best replacement is.

      Good luck:)

      1. I look forward to anybody coming up with an alternative that will produce the same or more points, even if say $200k can be spent elsewhere on upgrading a mid pricer to an uber. Thats not to also mention the likelihood of needing two trades to get either GG in at some time…a cost of $280k right there.

  9. The reasons I’m picking both is pretty simple. We have to start looking at the ruck position similar to the midfield (certainty points scored in recent seasons backs this up)
We generally don’t take ‘risks’ in the midfield with mid priced players. If you look at Gawns or Grundy’s numbers the last 2 years, it’s not even comparable to Cripps, Fyfe, Neale or Oliver. It’s comparable to Danger, Mitchell or dare I say it, Gaz,at their very peak.

If Danger, Mitchell, Gaz were at their peak and had banged out 130+ averages the last couple of years it would be a no brainer.
