I’m coming up, so you better get this trading started……

How many trades do you have lying around?

How many trades do you have BEFORE making any moves for Rd18?

  1. I have 6 but have a relatively premo side, Worpel at F6 is probably my weakest link, playing ok though.

  2. 4 left but cogs has to go and Logue still at D6
104k in bank but 10k short on going Merrett & Ryan in 2 trades

    1. Depending on your circumstances and aims Bryson, you could wait and see where Hunter CLARK is named for the Saints this week.
Ratts was full of praise for him pre-season and having spent the last two weeks in the midfield (pre-planning?!), this could be a sign of things to come. He didn’t play a full game against NTH two weeks ago due to a head-knock, but looked very good against the Cats last week.
If he’s named as a FOLlower this week, I’m jumping on.

Just consider Murphy at CAR and Ziebell (Simpkin) at NTH. While the CAR decision may well have been toe-jerk, I think NTH and STK decisions were/have been more ‘managed’ in a sense and the signs are already there!

      1. Lmao, AS back at with the Saints plugs! Heard you touting Steele again as well!

In all seriousness though, I think Hunter Clark is too expensive a risk; both in terms of cash and trades. At 370k, you can either go budget with Birchall or spend a bit more and grab L. Ryan or Sicily.

        1. Lol. It was more a response to specific circumstances than a solid recommendation. That said, I reckon he will score better $/pt wise than either Ryan or Sicily (who Bryson can’t afford)!

            1. Woah indeed. I said $/pt wise GD!

Say Clark averages 80, 90 or 95 for the rest of the year:
Ryan would need to ave. 94.9, 106.8 or 112.7 respectively.
              Sicily would need 96.7. 108.8 or 114.9.

If he’s named in the guts this week, I’d back him to beat them both based on the above comparisons. If he’s not I won’t be going near him, but again my initial response was specific to Bryson’s question, which in a roundabout way was: who is the best DEF for < $429k for the remaining 6 weeks? I can’t find another option I like more, hence recommending Clark.

Can anyone else help Bryson out with alternative suggestions? There are a few to choose from: Blakely, Milera, Andrews, BSmith, Simmo and JJ all meet that specific criterion.

              1. Thanks everyone for the comments
Maybe best to share the full team

Def: Williams Lloyd Hurn Laird Sicily Logue (hinge Naish)

Mid: Fyfe Macrae Cripps Neale Oliver gaff Danger cogs
                (Clarke Bewley Owies)

                Ruc: Grundy Gawn (Bines)

Fwd: Dunkley Lycett Kelly Ziebell Heeney Billings (Chol Gardner)

                4 trades
                $104,700 bank

J Kelly last week and now cogs has left me exposed in the back line.
Aimed to keep Logue for D7 but need to throw away a trade to get rid of either hinge or Naish.

My thoughts cogs to Merrett = 3 trades

If Logue is named then hold a week and assess Birchall.
Next week Birchall in for hinge or Naish depending on who allows better e loophole.
While this doesn’t get me to full premo it gives me Def cover (donut for Logue last week)

If Logue isn’t named the will have to sacrifice him for someone under 421,400
Won’t give me any def cover which I need.
Could then look at Birchall as cover next week but down to 1 trade

Thanks again everyone for the help
Probably should add – need to pay more attention to the josh Glenn rule during bye rounds next year 😉

                1. An option could be S Coniglio to C Wingard/T Hawkins via J Dunkley which would free up 180,000 in addition to your other 100,000 leaving 280,000 remaining.

This could be used to trade Logue to Whitfield with little cash left or Logue to L Ryan with 110,000 left and 2 trades.

Or you could keep Logue and trade Hinge to Millera or H Andrews if funds permit.

      2. Thanks Allsaints

A lot will depend on Logue being named this week. Coped a donut from him last week. If named I can just deal with cogs this week and then Birchall next week for hinge or Naish and loophole the two until finals.
If no Logue, I’m liking your suggestion
        Cheers

  3. After bringing in Whitfield this week, I’ll be full premo but with 1 trade. Could go for a super budget option down back and have 2 trades but I think I’ll roll the dice with a full strength team.

Obviously precarious to have 1 trade, but I’ll have every single premo I want in each line:

DEF: Whitfield, Lloyd, Hurn, Houli, Sicily & Ryan
MID: Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Neale, Satan Oliver, Sloane, Cunnington & Zerrett
    RUC: Gawn and Grundy
FWD: Dunkley, Marshall, Danger, Boak, T. Kelly and Heeney

Pumped to finally have full premo with no dodgy players (eg. Andrews D6, Crouch M8 or Cameron F6), just hope they can all stay fit and firing!

    1. And you call me Ballsy GD!!! 😉

To be honest that’s one of the best full premo sides I’ve seen but just one remaining trade with six weeks to go?! What do your benches/cover look like?

      Good luck mate.

      1. Ty, AS. My bench cover is poor:

        DEF: Burgess, Hinge.
MID: Bewley, loophole and whoever I downgrade D. Clarke to this week, probably little Dunkley or Hill
        FWD: Chol, Gardner.

Think Bewley finds his way back into Freo side. Would have liked to keep Clarke but I need to cash him in if I want Whitfield.

        1. Ouch. Should have kept at least 1 or all of Andrews, Cameron and Crouch to help improve your bench cover.

                1. Usually post after lockout in the How Did you Go thread so rankings change can be included without double posting.

My team and trades situation is listed further below in this thread.

  4. 10 trades 142000 cash
    B smith d6
    Stack m7 and Clarke m8
    Degoey f7
Bit behind the 8 ball in getting premo but def have trades on my side

    1. Nice. Use 4 trades in the next two weeks to nail down guns at M7 and M8. You’ll then still have six trades for the remaining 4 weeks to cover injuries and bolster other lines (mainly DEF by the looks of things).
      Good luck!

  5. Have 5 left right now, but am using two this week (Moore and JKelly OUT), so my team will likely be:

    DEF
Williams Lloyd Hurn Crisp Stewart Sicily
    Logue Naish

    MID
Macrae Fyfe Cripps Neale Oliver Crouch Heeney Merrett
    Clarke Setterfield Bewley

    RUC
    Grundy Gawn
    ZClarke

    FWD
Dunkley Dangerfield Marshall Lycett Kelly Greene
    Bines Gardner

The plan is to then wait if I can for a couple of weeks (fat chance) and trade Zac Clarke, via Bines and Setterfield for someone/anyone so I’ve got my structure back for RUC cover and MID/FWD loop. This will give me $250k ITB to bring Kelly back and ANO for Prelims/GFs if I make it that far. That is the plan anyway.

Have not had a week off injuries since Rd5 so am pleased to have got to this stage with the above team and some vital trades left (unlike last year!!).

    Good luck all.

  7. 4 trades left after 2 this week with 462k bank .

DEF – Lloyd, Hurn, Williams, Stewart, Ryan, Birchall (Logue, Gardener)
MID – Neale, Fyfe, Cripps, Macrae, Oliver, JPK, Zerrett, M Crouch (Clarke, Bewley, Scott)
    RUCK – Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
FWD – Dunkley, Boak, Dangerfield, Kelly, Marshall, Heeney (Hanrahan, Young)

Plan moving forward is to turn Logue into Whitfield next week & then possibly luxury trade Heeney.

We will see might hold as the injuries have already begun.

    1. Great team.
An option for next week could be:
      Out: G Logue, B Scott
      In: L Whitfield, C Wingard/T Hawkins

      1. Thanks for that Adam I will do Logue to Whitfield

Don’t think that Scott trade would work as I would need to move one of my on field players to the MID bench to replace with a equally unreliable scorer.

If I can I might turn hanrahan into Daniel when he’s back

        1

        0
        1. Whoops. Didn’t realise Hanrahan was fwd only as Scott could have been switched to the fwd line.

Therefore Logue to Whitfield next week would be a great move and potentially Bewley to I Hill if he is selected for a 3rd game. Then you could have sufficient cash to trade Hanrahan to Daniel as you mentioned above.

          1

  8. 2 trades left and 103,500 left. Plan for the remaining trades will likely involve grabbing either Hawkins/Wingard/Menegola to replace Hind/Hately and to fund it will likely involve Logue to Birchall.

    Team:
    Def: J Lloyd, Z Williams, S Hurn, R Laird, J Sicily, H Andrews, (G Logue, R Gardner)

    Mid: L Neale, N Fyfe, J Kelly, P Cripps, J Macrae, C Oliver, R Sloane, Z Merrett, (D Clarke, J Hately, N Hind)

    Ruck: B Grundy, M Gawn, (P Bines)

    Fwd: P Dangerfield, T Kelly, I Heeney, R Gray, D Mundy, J Westhoff, (W Setterfield, R Young)

Whilst missing some of the big guns and a poor D5-D6 and F5-F6 I’m quite happy I’ve been able to get to this line-up considering my awful season with rookies (missed Stack, Miers and Rozee but was stuck with Gardner, Scott, Young, Stocker, Hayes, Burgess and Baker). Had to play a bit of the Hokey-Pokey with trading rookies in then out (due to only 30% to 40% of my downgrades making more than 150,000) in quick succession and some alternative ways to fund cash necessary to complete my team.

A couple of poor decisions regarding starting Darling over Boak (rectified in RD7 with Kelly replacing Darling), selecting Hoff over Dunkley in RD8 and trading Goldy to Gawn in RD14 has cost me a 1000 points but I’m still very happy with a rank currently inside the top 5000.

  9. 4 Trades, $9000, Full “Premo”
    Andrews, Sheed, Cameron YUCK!

Very tempted in Greene, Merrett & Duncan this week but sitting on my trades at this stage.

    DEFENDERS
    Z. Williams L. Whitfield J. Lloyd (P. Naish)
    S. Hurn J. Sicily H. Andrews (R. Gardner)

    MIDFIELDERS
    J. Macrae N. Fyfe P. Cripps L. Neale
    C. Oliver R. Sloane M. Crouch D. Sheed
    (D. Clarke B. Bewley B. Scott)

    RUCKS
    B. Grundy
    M. Gawn (P. Bines)

    FORWARDS
    J. Dunkley P. Dangerfield T. Boak (R. Young)
    T. Kelly R. Gray J. Cameron (J. Westhoff)

  10. 5 trades left $175 itb
Laird, Lloyd, Sicily, Ryan, Andrews, Williams (logue, Naish)
Cripps, Neale, macrae, fyfe, Merrett, crouch, Oliver, heeney (hately, Clarke, Baker)
    Gawn, Grundy (nuff)
Danger, Dunkley, Cameron, gray, kelly, Marshall (Chol, Young)

Used 1 trade of Coniglio to Merrett. Don’t see the need to make too many other changes at this stage. Looking to upgrade logue next week, then a 1 up 1 down for Boak the week after. Should leave me with decent cover and 2 trades left for emergencies.

  11. Got 5 left and $260k in bank. Doing ok but not great with ranking (just inside top 2,000) but have noah answerth at d6, brodie smith and d5 and jeremy camerom at f6 with two non playing rookies on forward bench.
Gonna upgrade answerth this week to crisp instead of hurn/whitfield to keep a little cash in hand in case a injury trade is required and will hopefully leave it at that till finals.
