Poll – Warm Bodies

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 4 2019

Natopotato88 asked the question of warm bodies on the field during the Bye Rounds and we’re only happy to help……..

So how is your Bye Structure looking right now?  How many players are you expecting to field over the three weeks (assuming the SuperCoach Gods are kind to us and all our players are fit and selected)?

How many players are you expecting to field in Rd12?

  1. Having only 18 players that can actually play this week without trades being made, provided all rookies show up would be a dream. That ain’t happening so it looking like 18 this week will be a beauty. Rd13 similar. Rd 14 should be all good with 20ish

  2. Bit worried about what I’ll do if there’s selection drama this week. Have planned well for round 13 but could cop a donut this week with whitfield already out and team selection doesn’t go my way.

  3. Holding Whitfield and 22 available this week before trades which includes R Sloane, M Hore and Z Williams with doubts around their selections.

Traded out the deadweight and poor cash generation rookies pre byes so Bines is the only donut for the byes period assuming all players that played last round retain their spot.

Should have between 18-21 for RD13 and RD14 assuming no unforeseen injuries or omissions with Cripps, Ryan, Gray, Dunkley, Andrews/Hurn and Gawn all potentially traded in throughout the next month.

    1. No point holding Whitfield… he will be out a minimum of 6 weeks… and more likely to be 2+months

      1. Minimum of 6 weeks?

Recent precedence has been 2-4 weeks as well as GWS providing a timeline of 3-4 weeks.

“It was a hard one to diagnose because it wasn’t a traditional clavicle and it was in a really weird spot so the doc battled to get a read on it but then we got a scan on Sunday which showed he has a broken collarbone”.

“He had surgery on Monday afternoon and looks like missing probably around four weeks.”

“As I said he’s always pretty keen to play and he’s a tough young fella so I’m sure he’ll be pushing for less than that but roughly four weeks out.”

Still holding either way as I have sufficient numbers for the byes and Duursma to cover Whitfield if he doesn’t return in RD15 or Rd16.

            1. But knowing how GWS are with injuries (I still have PTSD from holding Greene through all his “1 week” injuries last year), it’ll probably blowout to 6.

  4. R12 was always going to be my tough one with trades planned for rds 13/14. Whitfield hurn and hore might now make r12 a wipeout with burgess/moore only backup.

      1. And coming up against Melbourne, who just bomb it into their F50. Lots of points up for grabs for Moore this week.

  5. So last year , along with many others , I lost 4 premos to injury / suspension first round of byes . Instead of sticking to my trading plan I did a 1 up, 1 down to get 18 on field, in the end still lost both league games and finished bye round period trading in 2 less premos than planned partly due to not doing double downgrade in that first round as intended.
This year am sticking to my plan, Whitfield only out so far .

    1. Tough to say for me. I remember last year as well bruce.p!

All seemed well and good and then a horror run of injuries had me pretty stuffed for the first and second bye rounds last year

The plan was stable up until this past week when Sloane, Hurn and Whitfield all went down. The latter 2 are confirmed outs so I’ll be relying on Team Selections. Hoping to be able to scrape by using minimal trades as I’ve been struck by some Carnage and bad decisions this year.

      Crossing the fingers!!!

  6. When do MEL and COL have to reduce their team selections to final 22s?! Just trying to work out how long I have to pull the trigger on certain trades.
    Thanks all/anyone!

  7. All season round 12 was going to be my strongest bye.Been trading in cuppla r12 players over the last cuppla weeks. As I look at my side tonight I have 17 on field,5 of which are out injured!Traded Hore to Hurn to avoid a donut last week!

  8. This is why I don’t bother with bye planning. Every year, without fail, there is a rash of injuries or mysterious omissions of rookies or management of premos around the byes and inevitably I end up with donuts at some stage. Don’t need the stress & ultimate disappointment of everything going wrong. Just let the carnage wash over me.
