  1. I traded Balta to Parker after week 1 for cash generation then read into the risk of concussion and went with Fyfe to Neale last week as my second “corrective” so have 28.

Now looking to hold until either injury or rookies max out and clear options to bring in…hoping another 2 weeks of no trades (league focused not overall).

    1. I think this is a valid point, Lisa needs to make a clear decision on whether she is gunning for league or overall.

I’m trying for overall so I’ve done two corrective trades and two cash grabs.
26 trades left, 300k in the bank. My supercoach theme song this year is “I’ve done all the dumb things” by Paul Kelly.

        Thats my theme song!

Two trades down. ( both before price changes. )

        Hore to Butters.

        Mundy to T Kelly.

Now I’m looking at using another trade to get Hore back in!

        1. Ditto Mr Tragic – traded Hore out and now considering getting him back in again. It hurts it hurts, why did I do it? But I guess we have to ignore the fact we traded him out and decide like any other option.

I think there’s a lot to be said for having a couple of non-players to loophole early on. Gives up cash generation but the potential upside of being able to field the highest scoring rookies is important. Need to remember that for next year!

A couple of dimwit decisions by me early mean I’m bringing down the league ranking of Freo;s Freeloaders 🙁

      2. Like that kid that brought two families at war together when choosing between soft and hard tacos … why can’t we have both??

I mean, seriously, let’s aim for a good overall finish AND league triumph.

        1. Wise words RB. If you go for overall and come close, you tend to be deep in finals anyway.
By all means be conservative early on, but not to the extent of looking a gift-horse in the proverbial.

        2. In principle yes, but in practice they encourage different strategies. Going for leagues, you want to get the best players from each position into your team, even if it means waiting a little longer to do it, so that you have the best possible team come finals time. Going for overall, on the other hand, is all about points, and it doesn’t matter when, where, or how you get them; going for the value option so that you can upgrade ASAP is often preferable here.

  2. In my fwd rookies I’ve got Parker,Burgess,Setterfield & Balta 🙁 I’m bleeding to death! Do I;
    T/U Trade Balta…no explanation needed!?!
T/D Trade one of the others and get a handful of $s knowing that Balta stays and may even eventually find a way under $100,000

  3. Traded in Rocky, saw his pretty ugly bump and traded him out. Traded Fyfe too. Wasn’t paying games with concussion this season. Also moved on Martin.

This season has gone really well for me.

  4. Have 29 trades left at the moment, and pondering the following pair of trades this week:
    – Butters –> Stack (MID)
    – Parker –> Heeney (FWD)

    26

    4
    1. Perfect IMO
I’m considering getting Ross over Stack though, even though he’s not on the bubble he seems to have better JS

      5

      1. Yeah that’s something I’ve been considering this week too.
I didn’t get to see much of their game this weekend, but from most reports, Ross plays a more similar roll to Cotchin and Dusty than Stack does, which may affect his JS once the stars come back.
Hopefully they both get an extended run at it, but cautious of missing the boat on Stack who is slightly cheaper and a week ahead in terms of price change.

  5. I’ve used 3 trades so far, but probably going to use another two this week because I’m ready to downgrade/upgrade.
    Parker to Hore (via dpp)
    Butters to Stack

    Next week:
    LDU to Rocky
Collins to Tim Kelly (via dpp)

I’ll be 7 trades down but my team will be:
Def: Lloyd, Williams, Smith, Moore, Duursma Scrimshaw (Clark, Hore)
Mid: Cripps, Fyfe, Coniglio, Sloane, Rockliff, B Crouch, Walsh, Cousins (Constable, Scott, Stack)
    Ruck: Grundy, Goldstein (Bines)
Fwd: Danger, Boak, Kelly, Billings, Worpel, Drew (Setterfield, Petrucelle)

    Thoughts?

    4

    5
    1. Is there any way you can go LDU/Butters to Rocky this week, and get Ross (instead of Stack) next week? This is the week to jump on Rocky if you’re going to get on him.

      0

      2
      1. Yeah i’ve looked at that, and to do that i have to keep Parker who IMO is going to struggle to get his breakeven of 46 this week. And I’d have to get rid of LDU who is much more likely to get his breakeven of 52. I am a little bit worried about Rockliff getting the Hutchings tag this week too. When Setterfield went to Rocky Carlton managed to get back in the game and get in front. I’m not too worried about Rockliff’s price getting out of hand this week with a breakeven of 86 and a possible Hutchings tag.
I also have easy opponents in my league this week so i should still get a win.

        Thoughts?

  6. T/U : Martin to Mumford with 220k in the bank (1 trade)

T/D: Collins to Rotham & Martin to Grundy (2 trades)

    Comment: Hold off

    13

    1. Jarrod.

I know you want Grundy but….

      Just don’t trade Collins.

His JS is rock solid , he is one of the best scoring defensive rookies, and still has a fair bit of cash to make.

Rotham’s JS is shaky at best.

Martin to Mummy is a VERY risky move.

But if you can use the cash to upgrade a forward rookie ( with a high B/E Parker ?) it could pay off.

I personally, would be holding my trades.
The risk of Mummy getting, injured and still being priced in No mans land is just too great.

      1. That news is all over the place. He’s struggling a bit with the corked hip from last week. Said they won’t make a decision until as late as they can if possible

  7. Should either of these rookies be trades out:

    TU: Butters
    TD: Parker

    Comment for both/neither

    1

    12
    1. I think both. They have both hit a wall and are at risk of going down in price this week. With Hore, Stack, Ross, ROB, all looking like great rookie options right now, it’s time to pull the trigger and get your team improving!

      1

      2
      1. I kind of agree Warriors.

Parker has injury concerns and The Saints are due to play some quality oppo in the next month.
He was also dirt cheap, so he has at least made nearly 100k.
For me he’s the first to go.

        Butters is a harder one.

He started pricier so has made less cash up to now,His average was quite decent before last week .
I think he has more potential to put up a 65+ and restart his cash gen.

If he is dropped, I will be tempted to go one of the Tigers boys, other wise I will loophole him and hope he can return to some form.

Just Parker to Hore for me this week.

        1. Sorry..

I may have changed my mind on Butters.

If you really believe the guy you are trading him in for, will make decent cash, go for it.

          1

      2. Can’t do ROB due to no ruck DPP. Was intending to trade Parker next week, but theres no reasonable rookie FWDs to trade in. Also can’t trade him for a Ross as I’ve got no DPP in the midfield. Baker may be an option, but his JS is questionable.

Butters to Stack this week. But that leaves me with one of Stack, Atkins, C.Wagner and Gibbons on the field (although Butters isn’t exactly more reliable right now).

  8. I’ve got 30 trades and I am going for overall however I still think I may not trade this round. I have all of the main rookies and Stack doesn’t seem worth the trade in terms of extra cash generated vs Gibbons. More excited about Ross next week

  9. 28 trades left (Heeney to Llllooyydd and Ridley to Duursma). Not unhappy with those, however Heeney’s resurgence stings a bit.

    1. Strongly considering Z.Williams (D4) to R.Marshall (F3).
It’s a bit sideways, but I think Williams won’t be a keeper anymore and Marshall looks to be Saints #1 ruck and scoring well. Even if Longer comes back, I think Marshall can do enough around the ground to go 90+ and bank $22k.

I’m batting deep in defence, but my forward line is a bit thin with Setterfield out and Parker 50/50 to play. Other rookies on that line are Drew, Fettuccine and Burgess.

    2. Will also consider Butters to Stack if the former is dropped and Stack named and bank $140k.

Will wait on teams of course. Currently ranked 1901.

    1. Nice work, Yiorgakis.

I was also considering Butters to Stack if Butters gets dropped. Have been since dissuaded by BlueBalls and FT, however. They raised some good points about cash generation, JS, etc.

Check it on the Flavour of the Week thread.

      1. Thanks Gunboat. It’s a risk for sure, but banking $140k from a rookie this year is nothing to sneeze at. The Tigers have loads of injuries so I think Stack could stay in for a few weeks and make some cash too. Having said that, if Butters doesn’t get dropped, then I’ll probably hold.

  10. Will be interesting for what happens in the coming round and how my single trade plays out. Took a gamble and traded Fyfe to Zerrett due to the concussion after history has shown it can cause after effects to scoring.
After 1 week I am 87 points up if I didn’t make the trade. Im now tracking to see if gets pulled back or it widens. The community suggested I shouldn’t go the trade but I backed myself and went for it.

  11. Setters into Hore (burgo to FWD)
    Butters into Stack

Bank $278k to turn Parker into kelly next week

    TU do it
    TD wait it out

  12. Yet to use any trades.

Think all my rookies can hit their B.E’s this week and the consensus seems to be that Stack isn’t a must have.

So, no trades this week either.

  13. Yiorgakis.

    Congrats on a great start!

I’m thinking of another risky move to bolster my forward line.

Lets see if you can guess?

He is averaging slightly more than Marshall the last few weeks.

He is playing for another team, that has been great the last two weeks, but has a easier draw for the next month.

He has a new role higher up the ground.

He is cheaper than Marshall , but shares the same Bye.

His Be is actually lower than Marshall ,and could also make $100k in just a few weeks ,”IF” he keeps up his current form.

    Can you Guess?

      1. Oh yes there is!

I really don’t want to send anyone else “down the rabbit hole”

        Oh sh#t I can’t resist..

He has the longest name in SC, and kicked 7 snags last week !

Ok, I am officially crazy right ?

        4

        1
        1. Haha I thought it might be him, but the Bombers play Kangas, Pies, Cats, and Swans next, not exactly an easy draw. Plus is a small forward. Yuk! Needs to kick a bag to kick a ton. Just as likely to have as many 50s as tons. Each to their own, but I like a little more consistency. Good luck if you go with Tippa!

          2

          0
          1. I know it sound crazy.

I’m not really looking for consistency I’m looking for a “Purple Patch”

He looks rock hard fit after a solid preseason and looks to have a bigger tank. Woohsa is giving him licence to get up the ground, which should help him stay in the contest.
I know he’s not going to kick a bag every week. I don’t really need him too.

IF he can even ave 80+ for the next 2/3 rounds he will make 110K+ and out score a forward rookie by 20/30 ppg.

Name me a forward rookie capable of making the same cash?

Yes he could go 56 and 65 in the next two weeks. ( the same as another forward rookie )

He will still make a bit of cash ,and I will bite my tongue and trade him for a Westhoff ruck cover type.

I wouldn’t advise anyone else to do it, but I may just take the punt.

  14. Just went to trade Fyfe and Sheed for Whitfield and Boak but was 6k short in the bank!!!
    Play those violins guys……..

  15. Thoughts please,

    Fyfe/Sheed >Hurn/Boak instead.

Do you think ATM Fyfe will have Fwd role, while he fully recovers coz Mundy…bloody Mundy, (sorry just couldn’t resist it) is staring in mids???

    1

    2
  16. Absolutely torn between Boak and Heeney. Brain says Heeney, younger, higher ceiling and potential. Heart says Boak, can’t turn your back on his first 4 performances.

    T/U: Trade for Boak
    T/D: Trade for Heeney

    3

  17. Used 3 to date all corrective (balta to parker, dunkley to kelly and fyfe to merret) probably not ideal but im pretty happy with my first two as I really dont see balta making any money and dunkley isnt going to be a top 8 fwd. It was line ball with fyfe but im worried he wont be at his best for a while with that hit.
This week im tempted to do a one up / one down. Will go butters to stack then cant decide whether to go
T/u parker to any fwd under $530k (not many obvious options as have heeney, danger and kelly but cant afford boak) this will mean i only have to field one rookie fwd. Currently eyeing off jeremy cameron.

T/d bailey scott to rocky. I’ll be light on in fwds still but rocky is more tempting at his price than any of the premo forwards.

  19. First year player here. What do you think I do with Pendelbury? He’s been underperforming a bit, and I know it’s better to think of Supercoach as more of a marathon than a sprint, but I’m not sure how he’s going to perform in the long run.

    T/U – Keep him
    T/D – Trade him

And if you think I should trade him, where do I go with that? Go down to a rookie for cash gen? I don’t want to waste a trade, trading sideways so early.
