Poll – Who The Ruck?

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 7 2017

Ben requested this poll in our new Polling Station thread…….the easiest way to get your poll happening on SCT!

I can’t remember a year where the Ruck line was so complicated.  Not necessarily through injuries but also the constant hassle of back-up Ruckmen syphoning pts from our Premium Picks.  With half the season nearly gone, who are the Rucks you’d like to have in your team in the lead-up to Finals?  Who are the ‘must-haves’ in your opinion?

Which two Ruckmen would you ideally like to have in your team for the remainder of the season?

      1. I probably wouldn’t go near Spencer, from what I’ve seen he is a 70pt maximum sole ruck scorer.
Gawn has been out for a while now, surely due back soon they might go with 2 rucks for 3weeks while Gawn gets his mojo back and I would have thought Pederson gets the backup gig before Spencer.

    2. Injury concerns notwithstanding, there is the possibility of him sharing the ruck duties with Andrew Phillips at some point (and he averaged 73 last year doing just that).

  2. TU: Sandi and Myers > Rocky and Cousins (via a lot of DPP’s)
This would mean 1 of Fisher Myers Or cousins Score counting.

TD: Barrett and Otten > Doc and Cousins

  5. Scott Lycett will soon play for the Eagles after getting through WAFL game last Monday. His first for the year playing mostly in attack for 11 touches and 16 hitouts at 75% game time. Worth watching.

  6. With the possible exception of Sam Jacobs, who isn’t really scoring any better than Sandilands, and Mumford, who is bound to get injured and/or suspended at some point, every other ruck that might be worth having has a ‘friend’ waiting in the wings, who could come in to the team and destroy their scoring any moment:

    Stefan Martin: Archie Smith
    Brodie Grundy: Mason Cox
Max Gawn: Jake Spencer (don’t forget that during the pre-season, Gawn said that he thought Simon Goodwin’s preference was to play two ruckmen)
    Todd Goldstein: Braydon Preuss
    Matthew Kreuzer: Andrew Phillips
    Paddy Ryder: Matthew Lobbe
Ben McEvoy: Ty Vickery (This year, McEvoy has averaged 113 as a sole ruckman, compared with just 78 when sharing with Vickery)

Frankly, the only rucks I trust this year are Sandilands and Witts. On second thoughts, that’s not fair: I trust the other ruckmen. I just don’t trust their coaches. With there not being anybody worth upgrading to, I can only see myself trading out Sandilands if he has a sustained run of injuries or poor form.

  7. Bringing in Kruze for Sandi this week as am fed up with late outs. At least will get 70plus every week from now on. Think rucks are very hit and miss this year!
