Polling Station – Rd13

Written by Schwarzwalder on June 12 2018

Why spend hours worrying about the relevance of the content on the SCT website when we can just ask our Coaches and save a stack of time and trouble?

Time again for the Polling Station, where YOU control the content at supercoachtalk dot com.  What would you like to see on the site ahead of Rd13?

Ultimate POD over the last 10 Rounds?  What to do with Dusty?  Should a rookie be brought in early this week?  Whatever it is, we’ll do our darndest to get it happening before the end of the week.  Keep in mind that we have a short turnaround with the Thursday game……..most polls will probably go up on Thursday/Friday.  Go nuts, Coaches!

  1. Tom McDonald/ Sicily. To keep them as defenders or forwards.
Personally leaning as McDonald forward and keeping Sicily back

    1. Really doesn’t matter which you have as fwd or back.

What will matter is having one in FWD line and the other in DEF line so that you can swing if needed to provide cover.

      1. I agree to a point, but having them at different ends isn’t paramount in my book, tho’ it does add flexibility.
The key is to have them both, given they rank top6 in both DEF and FWD lines.
I may end up with them both at one end of the park, depending on the last premo I bring in.
My point is, with one spot to fill if I can get a DEF who I’m confident will average 106-110 versus a FWD I think might scrape 100 average, cos I’ve got all the others, then I won’t restrict myself from taking the extra 6 to 10pts/week and will throw them both FWD.
Future injuries or forced trades will likely mean you can address it anyway.
Short version: get the most points you can and don’t get hung up on who goes where. Maximise.
        Good luck

    1. I feel that is too dependent on what your team looks like – some coaches will be full premo, whereas others may have 2-3 (or more) upgrades. I think the most common wisdom is that you’ll want at least 5 for long term injuries / carnage post-byes, on top of 2 for each remaining upgrade.

I’m sitting on 14 remaining before this round, and I expect I’ll be down to 8 or 9 before round 14 (with, hopefully, only one upgrade remaining).

      1. Okay cool. I’m aiming for 10 trades left after the byes, with only one spot to upgrade. Plus maybe Stefan Martin to Grundy at some stage, so looking on track.

  2. Poll on the best premo options of those that are over their bye. Could even break it into the four lines as well for greater assistance/clarity.

  3. Since his role-change in round 6, Fritsch has averaged 89, with 3 90+ scores (one 100+), and only one below 85.

Is it worth burning a trade to upgrade him, or should we hold him as an F6/7?

    1. I’ll be holding. Definitely F7 but maybe even F6 given he’s out-scoring my F4 and F5 (Westhoff and Mundy) consistently!

    1. Looks like I’m in the minority here, he travels to Adelaide oval twice, MCG, Tassie, SCG & the Gabba between home games & if you look at Father Dougal’s strength of schedule West Coast 2nd half draw is much more difficult.
Personally prefer Cameron, Gunston &/or De Goey.

  4. Is Liam Ryan (ankle) missing since round three a viable option if he comes straight back into the Eagles side for Friday’s game against Sydney?

    1. He’ll make $50k when he next takes the field. A lot more of he scores well. Personally, I’d only recommend if it doesn’t prohibit you from doing a legitimate upgrade at the same time, due to his comparatively high price.
That said, if you’ve got sh1tloads of trades left, go for it, but he’s an F7 at best you’d think.
      Good luck with it.

    1. Ideally you want both.

McLean has had his bye. Get him this week.

Aim for Heeney R15 after his Bye.

  5. Planning to trade walters

    T/U – Buddy Franklin
    T/D – Hold walters

Comment for other trades instead of buddy

  6. Thinking of McDOnald next week. Melb have a good draw and he is red hot. Is Tom McDonald a must have and worth the $556K price tag?

  7. Wingard M9 / F7

Ave of 87.4 at the AO from 5 games so far including a 110 & 116 v Freo & Richmond! Take out his 46 v Geelong in r5 & he has a 97.95 average over 4 games at the AO

Has 6 more games at the AO to finish the year off, high risk but cheap dpp option to swing from M9 / F7 for the rest of season!

    T/U…well worth the punt
    T/D…Catta, don’t be foolish

    1. Great option and question Catta as I too am pondering whether I bring in C Wingard or J Kennedy as a F6/F7 to loop with Billings for post byes. J Kennedy was in the prime position but his record interstate and in losses with their tough fixture has me heavily considering Wingard.

Averaged 90+ in 2013,2015 and 2017 and below 90 in the even years (2014,2016). In the 90+ seasons he averaged 21,19 and 22 disposals compared to 16 in 2014 and 15 in 2016.

      In 2015 and 2017 he averaged 99.67 from 21 games at AO with 10/21 below 100 and 3/21 120+ and 91.16 from 19 interstate.

In his 3 premium seasons he averaged 102.17 from 36 with 17/36 below 100 and 7/36 120+ in wins compared to a 89.08 average in losses with 18/26 below 100 and 3/26 120+.

Also in all of his premium seasons he averaged more post bye than pre bye.

He only laid 9 tackles from 9 games before the Richmond game and he registered 8 tackles last week and attended a game high 18 centre bounces.

With an easy upcoming draw, a load of home games, severely underpriced, DPP, ability to loop on 2 lines and be good bench cover this would outweigh the negatives consisting of his durability and inconsistency.

  8. How many Premos do you have in each line?
How many Rookies in each line?
Interesting to see where people are placed, at this stage of season.
