Polling Station – Rd3

Written by Schwarzwalder on April 1 2019

Welcome to The Polling Station……..where you control the content at SCT!  We could spend all week guessing which polls you’d like to see on the site……or we could just ask you 😉

Rest assured, I’ll put up a poll later today for Isaac Heeney & Dusty Martin (again) 😉   If there is a player /issue/strategy/general footy question that you’d like to see in a poll, leave a suggestion in the comments below.  We’ll do our best to fit in as many polls into our schedule as possible before Rd3.  Fire away, Coaches!

  1. Must haves:

    Rookies for Cash Generation
    &
Premiums for the entire year that you can’t miss out on

  2. Would it be valuable to have a poll on the correct rookies by line at this point in the season, factoring in both JS and $$$ Generation, so that coaches can make better informed corrective trades if necessary?

    I.e.
    Top-4 Rookie Defenders
    Top-6 Rookie Mids
    Top-4 Rookie Forwards

    Thanks in advance 🙂

    1. Still scarred from his 25 on field in round 1 last year after i brang him in on team announcement night when another rookie wasn’t named!

His team mate Scott has done one better (or should i say worse) with a 24 on field this year.

      Bloody North!

  4. Is it immoral to give my own posts a thumbs up on the really popular and long threads for easy reference lol?

    1. Biggest frustration for me on this otherwise wonderful site – it’s always a chore trying to find your own comments.

Is there anything that can be implemented that allows users to search for their own content and have it all come up on one page, rather than going topic by topic and searching your way down the page?

I suppose the risk that gets run there is people stop reading most of the other comments though, so maybe it’s not optimal.

      1. That’s a pretty good idea. I’d also like to be able to sort by new comments so I don’t have to spend time figuring out where I left off last time.

        1. Yeah, or just a “My Comments” button that shows your stuff only, with the TU/TD numbers visible.

Just don’t know if the platform supports it, seeing as you don’t need to “log in” to post.

      2. I like the idea of it……just the implementation of it may be tricky. Would likely require a new interface with “Members area” and so on. Will have to look at it with our I.T. people…….

      3. As I have recently discovered, official contributors have exactly this sort of interface available, and it’s great.

    2. If you are on the laptop or PC then Ctrl F and search your name or command F on mac.

      Doesn’t help for mobile though

  5. Here’s a ‘controversial one’ just to get everyone going:

Is Walsh a worthwhile trade to get Rocky!

Bet that gets a few comments!!
Walsh with predicted avg of 76 to the byes will be lucky to get to $370k – Rocky will be at premo status quickly and either a keeper or straight swap … interesting??

    1. Posted too quickly – also meant to add that you will get a lot more points from Rocky than Walsh – albeit the unknown impact of Wines return and the ever present risk of inhjury …

    2. Walsh 75.5 avg @ $207.3k = $2,746 spent per point.

      Rockliff 127 avg @ $405.9k = $3,196 spent per point.

In other words, Walsh is better value and I think Rockliffs average is likely to drop too whereas Walsh is much more sustainable which will increase the value gap even further. Rockliff will most likely cost another trade later in the so burning 2 trades, not 1, for the same, if not less cash generation (Rocky will unlikely rise to 570k due to the price squeeze mechanism) is not justifiable in my books.

I don’t mind the Rocky pick, he looks good, but think if doing so you would be better of downgrading an under-performing premium to build a bank to allow quicker upgrading in the future.

      1. Mind you … what value is Rocky outscoring Walsh by 40-50 points each week (320-400 points over next 8 weeks before byes)?? … hopefully any ‘underperforming’ premo gets his shite together over the next few weeks and scores at least as good and preferably 40 points better than Walsh too …

  6. With only 2 trades this week, who is more important to secure before their price rise;
    Newman / Neale / Moore / Kelly?

    3

    1. Newman / Neale / Moore / Kelly

Predicted rise for the above (i.e., if they score their average) should be:

      30k / 13k / 38k / 8.5k

So from a strictly numbers perspective, Newman and Moore but I would argue it also matters who you’re trading out and if you will be generating points (don’t sacrifice money for points because you only get points for points).

    2. none – stay away as I have them already!!

but seriously, check their BE’s and also factor in their upcoming draw over the next few weeks to see if they will sustain their output more easily than one of the others … Moore I think is value …

  7. How many of the top 10 scorers over the first 2 rounds do you currently have? I have 4 as it stands…

  8. As Baldrick would say “I’ve got a cunning plan”.

    GAFF

Just had a bolt of lightning strike me as I sip on my afternoon coffee. GAFF MAN TO THE RESCUE!!!

Wanted him in my initial team but just couldn’t wear him for two weeks whilst he was out. He stuck fat with his Eagles and will have a massive fire in his belly with a point to prove.

Could be a good trade in option for underwhelmed Dusty owners.

Could be worth a discussion. He’d be the king of PODs.

  9. Tech League:
Trade or Hold Mundy and McDonald
Do we need to get Parker in and for who (possibly 1 of the 2 above)

  10. Should we trade non-playing rookies? Obviously the short answer is duh, yes. But,

Say like me, you have both Ridley AND Hore and neither are named again this week. I’m tempted to only trade Ridley and bring in Lincoln McCarthy (via DMoore dpp).

This saves me one trade, generates cash and points AND give me a loophole to max. onfield DEF rookie pts (Clark into Scrimshaw).

I have all the other decent DEF and FWD rookies, so am thinking that waiting for a Hore return while utilising the l/hole, might be better than trading him? If he does come back in and looks a better cash generator, what then?

Of course, this could be a redundant question if either/both are (should be) recalled this week, but thought I’d ask the question anyway?!

Not sure if this is a ‘poll’ question or just a question, but would appreciate everyone’s thoughts anyway. Thanks

    1. The only rookie I really wished I had was Parker (small forward amirite?) but if Balta plays, will be hard to move him on.

Dusty/Burgess to Whitfield/Parker could be a goer but its going to sting really bad since the last trade I did to me team before lockout was Whitfield/Butters to Scrimshaw/Dusty.

      1. Hmmm. Think you want Parker. Looks the goods alright and has been pushed up the ground for spells in both games to date. I’ve got a feeling Ahern may be back this week, perhaps at the expense of Scott. That could make it easier if you have Drew FWD?

One thing that happened to me almost every week last year, was having to reverse ‘preferred changes’ to cater for forced ones based on shock team announcements!

    2. Ridley may of had a niggle cos he didn’t play in the magoos and Hore’s a chance to come back in the Dees side with May being ruled out with a groin.

      1. Thanks PA. I hope Ridley did have a niggle. Can’t see any other reason why he wouldn’t have played.

    3. AllSaints, I reckon it is going to be a long season. We have seen few injuries already. If you can get away with just making one trade, I would hold on, specially for a cash making rookie who would just sit on your bench. Come rounds 5 or 6, the cash generators may look different to who they are now. Fair enough If you need the cash for a premium move.

  11. If not for the DPP status it would be an easy call, but with Gawn, Grundy and Bines already in my team, a back up ruck is not without merit. Who to trade in for Heeney? Cheers.
    T/U – Lycett
    T/D – Kelly
