  1. Hey, Schwarz. Might be a good idea to pin this thread to the home page when the round starts- replacing Breaking Even now that we’ve made our trades.

Always find myself scrolling back to find this thread on a Saturday to brag about my score, only to then scroll back on a Sunday and complain about my score.

    Cheers!

  2. 661 captian Kelly. from 5 dont think bakers score will count as I have two other rookies score better in Baker or Marty hore Noah answerth. And Burgess think Burgess bakers score will be thrown out I do have some major scorers left looking at 2066 2100 be good

  3. 4/390

Selected P Cripps and H Andrews this round replacing S Walsh and L Whitfield. Midfield finished, finally welcome P Cripps to my side after his non selection last season and the return of H Andrews who unfortunately only lasted 1/2 a quarter last year in my side (22 in RD14 2018).

    22 available players with 7 rookies (N Answerth, T Atkins, L Baker, O Baker, C Burgess, M Hore and W Setterfield).

Hopefully Baker’s score drops so it will then be
    3/340
    Left to play: L Neale (VC), H Andrews, P Cripps, T Goldstein, B Smith, R Laird, R Sloane, Z Williams, J Kelly (C), B Grundy, C Oliver, J Lloyd, I Heeney, 2 rookies.

  4. I bought laird in for whitfield and mitch robbinson in for balta. Also have cripps. neale .Smith. goldy. gwan . cogliano. yeo Noah answerth. Burgess. M hore. B crouch. O Baker. Zeabell and setterfield. So who knows what I could score might get some monster scores tomorrow. Good team Adam might be interesting who will score near 2000 or over

  5. Would like peoples thoughts on my trades… I’ve either lost the plot or I’m a genius!
    Rd 12
    Trade 1 Whitfield To Neale.
    Trade 2 Hurn To Andrews.

    Rd 14
    Moore To Hurn.

Basically I upgrade Moore to Andrews before his probable price rise & get his points in round 12 Rather then having hurns zero on the bench… same amount of trades, just works in my favour to do it that way!
    I think… haha

    TU GENIUS!

    TD LOST THE PLOT!

    1. Also need to mention, decided on bringing in andrews this week as i have poor scoring players like burgess & corbett on field… i needed moores score this week…
would have needed to trade o Brien down to afford to get Andrews in…

That’s why same amount of trades required.

    2. Just waste of trades if u have good rookies that can score and cover hurn why not just bench him. I bought laird in for whitfield. Mitch robbinson in for balta. Bit crazy. But I think u just hold onto hurn u never know when u need those trades later in the year. Also if u have top 18 scorers be good

  6. Finally got a VC right picking Danger and with T. Kelly I might get a decent score this round. Good luck to everyone over the bye period. I think next week is a bit of a right off for me.

    2
    1. Yeh, I vc’d Danger so that will help but I only have 18 playing so have to take all the scores. Already have Balta’s 29 and Clark’s 24. Can’t see me passing 1800 this week. It is my toughest bye round.

      1

      0
    2. You must be the guy I’m playing. Everyone picked Danger and Cripps just made his score irrelevant.

      0

      0
  7. I’m taking Tim Kellys score as the VC so I’m on 653 with 5 players down.

I’ve got 20 players but they include Rotham, Hore and Corbett.

And Sloane who’ll cop the DeBoar tag.

    2

    0
    1. Knowing Adelaide I’m expecting Sloane to be a late out. I hope he plays though otherwise Matt Crouch will cop the tag instead.

      2

      1
        1. I’m hoping for some crazy scenario where he Tags Brad Crouch.

He tagged Hill over Fyfe when they played Fremantle

          0

          0
  8. Swapped the VC from Danger to Cripps at last minute, that worked out well! Expecting a decent game from the Blues and Cripps so he might smash out a decent one. If not Jelly should be solid as my C

    3

  9. 1582 / 14 / T Kelly

Still got Lloyd, Grundy, Oliver, Heeney, O Baker and Petruccelle to come so it could be a good round. If Grundy is s late out ROB’s score will count.

Current scores that might drop out are Answerth’s 33 and L Baker’s 50.

Still contemplating Petrucelle to Gardner before Petruccelle loses any more cash.

    2

    1
    1. ROB’s score will count even with Grundy playing, it’s top 18 scores during the bye rounds which includes emergencies.

      0

      12
  10. Hey guys

If I captain a player who has a bye this round will I my VC’s score double. I read some where if your captain is not in your best scoring 18, you lose the captain’s score?

    3

    0
    1. From the SC website.

“Set a Captain (and Vice Captain) as you normally would for double points. If your Captain’s doubled score is NOT in your Best 18 scores, then their points will not count – you simply get your Best 18 scores only. Similarly, if your Captain’s doubled-score is NOT in your Best 18 scores, you do NOT automatically receive double points from your Vice Captain – your Vice Captain only receives double points as per any other round, if your Captain does not play for any reason.”

      2

      0
      1. Let’s say you captain Grundy on Monday and he goes down in the first minute. He scores 3pts. If that’s not in your best 18 scores for the round you don’t get 2 x 3pts and you also don’t get your VC score. You just miss out.

As it says if you’re captain doesn’t play for ANY REASON you’re VC will get x2 … assuming they’re score is in your best 18.

        4

        0
  11. 1520 from 14 players with Tim Kelly as captain and 10 points from Corbett.

got 6 players to go, Rotham is one of them so he might not play.

    2

    0
  12. 1587/16/ J Kelly
22 available this round with 7 rookies.

Would assume N Answerth, B Smith and L Baker’s scores drop out which means I would be
    1456/13
Still to play: J Lloyd, I Heeney, M Hore, C Oliver, B Grundy, O Baker

Happy with the inclusions of P Cripps and H Andrews replacing S Walsh and L Whitfield but a shame I didn’t VC Cripps on debut.

    3

    0
  13. 1143/JKelly/7 to play

Had the byes all worked out but with Greene OUT, I now have at least 4 sub-50 scores that will count.

Taking the V off Danger and putting it on Neale instead of Cripps hurt, despite looking like the right call at half-time.

Lloyd, Heeney, Moore, Oliver, Grundy, Gawn and Hore still to play. Need them all to stand up if I’m not gonna lose a heap more ground.

20 and 22 onfield for Rds 13 and 14 so hopefully can recoup over the next two weeks, with a decent warchest and upgrades to come.

    Good luck all

    1

    0
    1. Similar as, had 19 on field this round then no whitfield,no greene , 2 trades used for no gain in numbers(kept greene). Still have 3 dud scores under 50 and only lose one of them.
Said in another thread whatever happens I’m going to stick to my overall trade plans, couple of upgrades next week.

      2

      0
      1. I think that’s the way to go. Everytime I try and make a good team just for round 13, it screws up all my long term plans.

        1

        0
  14. Forgot to VC Danger fri night, was spewing I missed his score.

Thank fk for captain Crippla 🙂

    1355 with C – 6 to go

    0

    4
    1. Ooof, ideally neither. In the last few games they’ve kept one another to below 100.

You’d be better off rolling the dice on Lloyd today or even Oliver.

      3

      1
    1. Will have 20 onfield, but like everyone else will be missing some massive scorers: Lloyd, Neale, Oliver, Grundy, Gawn and Danger, with no RUC cover (hence 20 onfield).
Hore, Answerth and Heeney other benched players.

In short, I wouldn’t concern yourself too much as most teams will have most of these players too!

      3

      1
  15. 1207/11/Cunnington

Little salty that I didn’t VC Danger or Cripps. Got Darling, Lloyd, Heeney, Hore, Oliver, Gawn and Grundy left, they should get me to at least 1800.

    3

    1
  16. Have Neale as VC so who to Captain?
TU Lloyd-playing WC ball should be down there a fair but.
TD Grundy- up against big Maxy won’t have it all his own way, in saying that needs to feature for the Pies to win

    5

    3
  17. 12/1,428 Danger

Hopefully, Answerth and Clark’s score won’t count which would have me 10/1371 with Seagull Lloyd, Heeney, Grundy, Crisp, Gawn, Oliver, Hore and Baker to come with Burgess 72 on the bench.

    3

    1
  18. What’s a decent score this week coach’s??
Proj: approx 1900 myself, which seems about par

    3

    0
    1. No way 1900 is par.

More likely par will be in the vicinity of 1550-1750. You’ve got to remember that the scores posted in this section will primarily be above par due to everybody boasting and most of the average to low scoring coaches not posting. With a lot of coaches fielding 18 or less in conjunction with low scores from some of the popular rookies par will likely be lower than expected.

A great or solid score will be in excess of 1800.

      17

      0
      1. Really? That’s great news. As long as Gawn and Grundy don’t keep each other too low, I should be fine.

        4

        0
        1. Usually anything over 1750 is great for a bye round. If you can muster approximately 5100 to 5400 points over the bye period it should ensure a rankings climb.

          4

          0
          1. Should I be ignoring my projected score of 2015? I’ve got 20 playing but a couple ,Balta and Answerth, have had very low scores. Need to go back to Adam’s captaincy projections to see if Gawn and Grundy effect each others score.

            2

            0
            1. Currently 18.3% of coaches have Grundy as C and 10% have Gawn. 13.6% had either Danger/Cripps but 20.4% have utilised a loophole to grab a VC’s score.

Dependent on how you’re currently tracking I wouldn’t been adverse to banking L Neale’s VC but with J Lloyd and B Grundy’s consistency you’d expect them to figure around the 90-130 range. This means whichever option you decide shouldn’t have a great impact due to your projected score unless you Captain 1 of them and they suffer an early injury.

              5

              0
          1. Haha… my rookies this week Walsh 141, Gibbons 109, Setterfield 67, Baker 50 plus either O Baker today hopefully replacing Answerth’s 33. Also have ROB’s ton as replacement for Grundy if he’s a late out.

Those Carlton green shoots came through this weekend.

            1

            0
  19. Hey guys, am wondering whether to take Cripps 194 as VC or perhaps roll the dice on Oliver?
T/U Play it safe, 194 is enough don’t be greedy.

T/D Oliver will smash that comfortably

    Cheers guys

    1

    32
      1. I have Lloyd as captain in other formats 🙂 Stuck fat what danger here 🙁 Crippa will win the Brownlow

        2

  20. 1337/14/J Kelly

This week has turned into a bit of a mare, unfortunately, I’m ranked 386th so I’m expecting a bit of a drop-off. I’ll be happy to get a score off 1750 at this rate.

Brodie Smith, Jeremy Cameron, Coniglio, Kelly, Neale all scoring below par.

The worst part is I had VC on Neale. Both Neale/Kelly looked like good choices at HT and 3QT respectively, but both ended up falling apart before FT.

    4

    0
  21. If Gawn Grundy, Hore and Satan Oliver combine for 450, which is highly probable then I will 2150 from 18.

    9

    1
    1. Woah, nice!

Also, good to see you getting on board with “Satan Oliver”. Been pushing that one for a while lol.

      3

      0
    1. 1725 from 17. Tim Kelly as Captain.

Got Gawn, Grundy and Hore to play. They should knock out my bottom two scores and get me to 1950+

      5

      0
  22. 1721…17 played. Oliver, Hore, Grundy and Baker to come. Should leave Corbett and Clarke outside best 18. Looking to top 2000.

Pretty happy. Was thinking 1800 par. No complaints.

    6

    0
  23. 1680/17/Gawn

With Gawn, Grundy, Satan Oliver & O.Baker still to play. Projecting 2158.

    What’s par this week?

    4

    0
        1. I think it’s gonna be close TrooRoo. Adam thanks again for trading tips on Friday. Finally brought in Cripps and being a Carlton supporter had to vc him. Unfortunately atm have 13 playing next week. After trades should be 16 and if Hately gets a game 17 so not too bad. BTW if I was Hately and didn’t get a game this week I’d be on the phone to Silvagni next week to talk about next season now that the blues are on the up (fingers crossed).

          3

          0
        2. F**k it. Why not TrooRoo?!

Sounds like you’re on track to score well above par, will eagerly await an update in tomorrow’s How Did You Go thread.

          Goodluck!

          2

          0
          1. That’s a massive score if you can get that. You’ll probably get pipped by one of the teams made specifically for this week unfortunately.

            4

            0
          2. Great score TrooRoo and will be intriguing to see your weekly rank as I assume your current projection will mean you’ll likely feature in the top 100 to 1000 for the round.

As for the weekly prize there’s always teams that either start this round or at the start of the year with the intention to load up on a certain bye round so the possibility to take out the weekly I would assume would be low.

            2

            0
  24. 1820 / 16 / T Kelly

Still to come .. Grundy, Oliver and O Baker

Baker’s got Answerth’s 33 to beat to contribute to the score. Grundy and Oliver should be able to get me up over 2000 which I’ll be super stoked about in a bye round.

    6

    0
  25. 1825/18/ J Kelly
22 players this round so I likely won’t need N Answerth, B Smith and L Baker as I have B Grundy, C Oliver, M Hore and O Baker to play with all but O Baker likely to contribute.

    Therefore
    1694/15/ J Kelly
With B Grundy, C Oliver and M Hore to go.

    7

    0
  26. 1636/16/Danger
I have 21 players this round so at this stage, will not need to include Answerth’s 33, Clark’s 24 & Corbett’s 10. I have 5 more to come – Grundy, Gawn, Oliver, Hore & Baker, so hoping for around maybe another 400 to bring me to around 1969. Will be rapt if I can manage 2000 – knowing next week will be a disaster….

    4

    0
    1. That’s going to be a good score with just the 18 on field. Sets you up nicely for the following bye rounds.

      1

      0
    1. Should be above par, there will be some big scores though. I might get to 1800 and am not expecting to drop too much in the rankings. Being the toughest bye round for me and only fielding the 18 players I’m satisfied with that. People that have already traded Walsh have probably made a mistake. I was going to trade him at his bye but might have to rethink. Like Tim Kelly last year he might stay in my side for a bit longer. For people who are short on trades he has M8 written all over him.

      3

      0
        1. Was going to punt Walsh and Gibbons at their bye but I feel I’ve got to stick with them for a bit longer now.

          0

          0
  27. Yeo being a late out was annoying. Left me with 19 playing this week. Answerth score going to count with Clark 19th scorer and not counting him I’m 1573/ 14 danger
Gawn, Grundy, crisp, baker to come.
Some monster scores by the looks on here!
If I get 1900 I will be stoked.

    3

  28. 1496/Cripps – 5 to play : Crisp,Grundy,Gawn,Oliver and Hore, maybe somewhere near 1900 at rounds completion, might be around a par total

    0

    3
  29. 1506/14/Cunnington (*sigh not Cripps)

Got Gawn, Grundy, Hore and Satan Oliver left to play.

Not feeling very confident; can see Gawn and Grundy restricting each other to sub tons, unsure how Hore goes with Lever and May in and I don’t think Satan Oliver will be able to complete against the Pies’ engine room.

We’ll see, secretly hoping to sneak to 1900~ though.

  30. 1542/15/JKelly
First week I’ve missed a decent C or VC score – makes such a difference.
Well done to all those posting good scores

    4

    0
  31. 1806 , two more to go. Looking around 2000 and happy with that. Hope Gawn and Grundy dont neutralize each other too much.
Also It looks Cloudy, the predicted rain would add a spanner in the works. Who does better in the rain?
    TU Grundy
    TD Gawn

    6

  32. Hurn yeo, whitfield..I’ll wake up tomorrow and start again !! Could have traded whitfield, but always wanted Ryan after his r12 bye. Might scape 1600 if lucky.

    4

    0
    1. I feel your pain mate. At least your players are legitimate. I got done by Greene! Who’d have thunk?! I was warned by TDA and many others.
Still, I’ll take the pain this year and not try and trade my way to a decent score. LESSON LEARNED. Should get to 1800 so not a complete disaster and a better C choice than Kelly would have actually made it respectable.

      3

      0
      1. Greene is on my never again list and I’m guessing on yours too now !! I’d forgotten my danger c score is still to kick in, so I’m looking like better than 1700. Not a total disaster.

        0

        0
    2. We forget every year. Many teams use the byes to rest/tweak their players . Thats why Not having 20 in field is calling for trouble. Lady luck sometimes has a bye too.

      2

      0
      1. All true, but sometimes the best laid plans go astray. I had 16 onfield, so with these three that was 19 and my bye plans perfectly set. Am going to lose 9/10 leagues, so no point in burning any trades this week.
        I’m gonna kick butt rds13/14 though !!
Oops…shouldn’t have said that !! Reckon all the Gawndy holders are in trouble next week. If Rob is selected as he should, I may have 21 on field.

        2

        0
        1. Hoping ROB makes it one more week. Cannot see why he should be axed off his recent performances.

          0

          0
  33. 1642/15/Jelly
Grundy, Oliver and Baker to go
Might make 1900 but not holding much hope with Oliver leaving the track early yesterday with back issues

    2

    0
  34. While watching an imperious batting display from the Indians last night, I thought I’d look at what the best team up to the byes might have looked like. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I find this crap both interesting and therapeutic. So,

The following team would be leading the pack in overall SC scoring having made 0 trades after Rd11!

    DEF:
    Lloyd Hurn Ryan
    Hore Duursma Wilkie
    Clark Scrimshaw
    MID:
    Neale Cripps Cunnington
    Parker Taranto Liberatore
    Walsh Smith
    Atkins Stack Gibbons
    RUC:
    Grundy Gawn
    O’Brien
    FWD:
    T Kelly Boak Dunkley
    Rozee Miers Baker
    Drew Bines

    ITB: $145 200

Having a constant C on Grundy, E on Drew and subbing Scrimshaw in for Hore in Rd2, then reverting and putting the E on Scrimshaw, you could’ve gone on honeymoon for the next 8 weeks and come back to find yourself 275pts ahead of the pack on 25 554 pts at the completion of Rd11. Obviously this is a very simplistic version and doesn’t optimise onfield rookies for pts maximisation each and every week, but it does convey what is possible if you pick the right premos and rookies at the outset.

Not bad eh! So how many of these did you start with?

I had 5 premos, 1 midpricer and 10 rookies (counting O’Brien and Baker as I bought them in on their bubbles, given it’s unlikely you started them as they didn’t play Rd1)

The team has been selected in terms of onfield pts and max. cash generation from off and onfield rookies.

Can you tweak it to make it better?!

    6

    0
    1. Love it and you’ve managed a big kitty to leave for hypothetical upgrades through the byes too.

      2

      0
    2. Started with 8 of those, tells you how much I must have messed up the other 22 players.

      1

      0
  35. All Saints, I have started with the Llyod, Laird, Witherden , Williams .. thinking that was a solid def … Goes to show what half a season can bring…. to answer your question, I made a very bad choice of premiums to start with and spending all my trade trying to be competitive…
From that team, I Only picked
    Def: Llyod
    Mid : Cripps
    Ruck: G+G
I however nailed the Rookies except from Stack and Miers .

    3

    0
    1. Ooof, Witherden. Not the break-out many of expected. Pumped out several 90s but yet to crack the ton. Hmm.

      1

      0
    2. At least you got one! I started no DEFs but did get Lloyd pretty early.
Whitfield, ZWilliams, BSmith, DMoore were my non-rookies. Missed way too many games collectively.

      2

      0
      1. Allsaints..

        I like your thinking..

David Mundy a bit stiff to miss forward 😉

Also if you had started Finlayson down back this year, I feel you would of been pretty happy up to this point.

        3

        0
  36. 1466/Danger
Gawn, Grundy, Oliver, Brayshaw & Moore to go.
Will probably lose my main league game by 100 or so.
Corbett/Clark/Answerth didn’t help much, but at least 2 of their scores dropped out

    2

    0
  37. Greene is on my never again list and I’m guessing on yours too now !! I’d forgotten my danger c score is still to kick in, so I’m looking like better than 1700. Not a total disaster.

    2

    0
  38. 2006 with T Kelly

only got 18 on the field for round 13 and 14 though, soooo that could get messy.

    3

    0
  39. 1949/18 (Danger)with Answerth, Putridccelle and Rotham struggling. Wife’s team got 2171/19 (Cripps). Needed to have 20 players in my team to have that buffer of lower scoring rookies.

    2

    1
  40. 2025/Gawn

    24 players to choose from.

  41. 1930/Danger
Seems low, I did trade in Sicily and Ryan this week trying to help for a difficult round next week. Don’t have heeney, llyod and when they both ton up my week is crappy.
Not a terrible score and I’m in a strong position for remaining bye rounds
