Progress Scores – Rd2

Written by Schwarzwalder on March 30 2019

Grundy answers his SuperCoach critics with a 130+, as does Oliver, as does Dangerfield, as does Gawn. One week is a long time in SuperCoach……don’t go chasing pts! What’s your score looking like after the Saturday in Rd2?

  1. That’s better!

Oliver’ll probably score 120+ in a losing side tomorrow!

And Grundy’s not even fit yet;)

Taking Grundy’s VC (137) and I had the same captain combos as last week (VC- B Grundy, C- N Fyfe). Another great performance by D Moore and hopefully he can eventually post a 100+ to greatly help his cash generation to compensate for the non playing/ poor cash generating rookies.

With Greene’s non selection I will be fielding 8 rookies this round (X Duursma, J Clark, S Walsh, B Scott, C Constable, W Drew, W Setterfield and M Parker) so hopefully some of the poor Rd1 performing premiums (C Oliver, Z Merrett and J Darling) can have a performance similar to Grundy’s.

  3. 137/1/Bines
Bines had a ripper performance last week so I am backing him in again. Seeing how many times I can captain his this year.

For the Tech team it is 474/4/Grundy
Decided that the team didn’t want to be chasing all season to get him in so, start now.

  4. 230 with 2 players used, Grundy and Moore. Had VC on Grundy so will loophole to get his score as captain.

  5. 490/3 Grundy

Crisp a big night with a handy 123 as a POD and Moore as F4 with 93 the other 2 players along with Grundy tonight. Go Pies .

    1. Dustys like most workers in this great country , his hand will go up when its a simple task , but when you need the best people to bust a nut to get the tough jobs done , he’s the one hiding in the dunny

  6. 353/3/ VC Gawn, C McRae

Great start to the week Grundy bouncing back, how people traded him I don’t know.
Crisp was ok last week but was really dominant tonight, high priced POD.
Moore got some cheapies but I don’t care if he can stay fit for 7-10 weeks will prove to be a great selection

Also I’m a pies fan & am happy to see a good game unlike last weeks match which was hard to watch.

      1. Thanks PA.
I don’t usually post my progress score as it is like going the early crow but this round I might have finally gotten my captain choice right. It was my Achilles heel last season as I never seemed to nail it. Still it is a long weekend of Supercoach to go and I expect many many teams to pass me quickly.
Good luck PA and all who visit this amazing site.

  7. 137/1/Rocky into Danger.
The bad news is that Cunningham, Ridley and Hore are out in Def. Cunningham 4 wks, Ridley and Hore no JS with Hooker/May coming back.

TU Bite the bullet and bring in one of Wilkie or H Taylor (In my watchlist)
TD Cope a donut and wait until next round

  8. exact same as The Death Adder above 490/3 – or will be once Grundy’s score is doubled up, was reading early comments in the Game Chat thread…more than a few going the early Crow hey??…great to see Schwarzy give ’em some stick haha!

  9. Lol, rookie mistake. I checked my phone thinking all was fine realising I was fielding a donut in defence, which judging by the players I could fix up Saturday. But I hadn’t refreshed my phone, forgetting I was thinking on the PC at home. So I traded hore for Lockhart. Ah well one corrective (incorrective) trade down. An no donuts in defence so far.

  10. 5/504

Heeney a disappointment, but otherwise, pretty ecstatic. Two good scores from my mid pricers.

VC on Lloyd and I’ll think I’ll take his 124, don’t want to repeat my mistake last week of rolling the dice on a good captian score.

  11. 570/6 – Heeney and Mills let me down again – already thinking about trading them both for Sicily and Worpal.

    What do you reckon?

Grundy, Moore, Trelor and Laird were my other 4 – captain this week is Fyfe, Rocky VC

Interested in thoughts on trading above?? Thanks

    1. I’m a tigers supporter and would love to see Dusty fire but 2017 was his one great year. The other teams have adapted to his game style since then.
I think at best he is a m7 or m8 but more likely outside top 10.
To add to that Richmond isnt very SuperCoach friendly and will often score less SC points than opposing teams even when they win.

  12. 735/7/ Gawn VC & McRae C

Good start to most players M Crouch saved his game last night with a 30+ last quarter.

Can’t say the same for Heeney however I don’t think we should be trading him, he will still end up in the top 10 fwds IMO.

  13. 490/5 Rocky /macrae.
I really wanted to not run heeney as the guy everyone else had which I didn’t. But more midfield time and not being able to decide who to select instead of him made me take a cautious approach.
If Kelly backs up this week I’ll be sad, considering he was the most likely for me to take.

  14. So I have rocky as VC and Fyfe as C.
If I put Bines on field and make Gawn emergency, I can decide whether to captain Bines or not before WC kick off?

  15. 425/4/Vc grundy
Haven’t added Vc score ( bit frosty from last night)
    Grundy-Lloyd-Smith-Heeney
Worried about Heeney looks slow like he’s carrying an injury, but could of been just on of those nights for him, plus near everybody got him so no damage done score wise.

  16. 595 / 6 / V/C on Sloane. C on Cripps.

    Grundy
    Moore
    Sloane
    Brodie
    M Crouch
    Heeney

Heeney is playing hurt so I will forgive him this week.

M Crouch made a great comeback to nearly ton up,He also played hurt. So a good return really.

Sloane started great ( 40 point 1st Q ) ,thought he was up for a big one. I can’t really be upset with 105

Looking forward to ( a late starting ) Super Saturday.

    Quick thumbs.

T/U Stick with Cripps as C

T/D Take a punt on Rocky.

    Comment Danger.

    Cheers. 🙂

Have Lyons Goldie Scott. Walters and Jack scrimshaw. So who knows what I can end up with

    1. Rule of thumb so to speak is usually anything 125+, I took Cripps 126 last week and was satisfied with that.

      1. Yeah, I don’t want to be greedy but so many people will have Fyfe or Danger and I feel like I need to do something to remain competitive.

        1. Lock in B Grundy’s score. Fyfe could easily post his 1st sub 100 score against GC or even suffer an injury in the 1/2 half. As PA mentioned above always take anything over 120 to 125+. The only reason not to is if you expect your captain to score 30+ more than your VC (eg 150+) but it’s normally not worthwhile due to the greater likelihood of it being a unsuccessful selection.

  18. Im such an idiot. I thought West Coast played tomorrow so i had Danger loopholed as VC and now cant get the score! Don’t let me down Fyfe !

  19. 2070/19 (Grundy VC)

Fyfe, Libba and Collins left to play. Happy with my score but geez there are going to be some huge ones this week! Have no clue whether I’m tracking well or just par for the course.

  20. Down by 18 in my head to head league

Me : grundy vc and libba to play

    Opponent : Fyfe C

If libba scores 100 Fyfe needs 110 to win the game

Do I chuck the C on mcrae and hope for a 150?

You see, this is how I envisioned round 1 going for me. Very happy with most of my players this round. On track for over 2300!!

Stars: Grundy, Gawn, Danger, Oliver, Lloyd, Cripps, Kelly.

    Duds: Heeney.

  22. 1588/6 to go/ Rocky into Danger…nooo into Cogs.

Supercoach Gods are cruel. Was having dinner with a Carlton mate and his family. His mum and dad came down from Vic and love AFL too. At Half time Rocky is 80+, it is raining but I am confident and I give him plenty of banter bcoz Cripps his VC was lagging behind, then turned off my phone to be social….
40 mins or so later he gets out his bottle of Yamazaki Japanese single malt Whisky, with a big grin on his face. He whispers to me : “Great call on Rocky mate, thats a stroke of genius, he is killing it, you deserve a drink of the best, so do I , Nice one legend!!!”. Then he pulls out his 6 year old doddgy cigars he got from a trip to Cuba…His wife is in stiches, I think there is more, I think they are pregnant… Then,
I become suspiscious, I know he only gets that bottle out for special occasions so I dont think his smile is genuine, I sneak to the bathroom, turn on my phone , Rocky is stuck on 105. I rushed to move C from Sweet to Danger, Danger is locked out, I have Neale and Cogs left, I know Neale will be tagged, I hear my mate calling out loud where was I, I move the C on Cogs… The rest you know: Cogs 51.

Sorry I have to bore you with this story, it was just too funny, My mate had the last laugh bcoz he had moved his C from Cripps to Danger in the last minute before Geelong lock out. Needless to say we cleaned up the bloody bottle…. Only Supercoach gives you moments like that. Happy playing
Please share your bad captain call and lets have a laugh, maybe Schwarzie can get us a funny thread?

  24. Sigh… rookies, rookies, rookies and heeney.
Need jacmac (c) to put up a monster to have any hope of getting past 2200. Also have Neale and dunkly.

  25. Thanks Jeannott, you made our day. One week is a such a long time in Supercoach. My Bf (He is a veteran supercoach player) is one of the few people who rage traded Grundy out this week. He convinced himself that this year is not one for the rucks . Last week He had VC Grundy for C Oliver while I went VC Cripps for C Coniglio, He told me I was a girl who doesn’t understand supercoach, I was a rookie, Coniglio got 154 and Oliver, meh .
This week , reverse fortune, maybe not, He brought in Lycett for Grundy but put VC on Rockliff and was planning the C on Dangerfield. He was so so happy happy with Rockliff early score, he rang about everyone. Didn’t end well and like you he refused to take Rockliff’s score and got locked out last minute on Dangerfield and moved the Captain armband on to Coniglio. Lycett as you know got 167 to Coniglio 52. We didn’t have a bottle of whisky but our wall copped a bottle of Coopers and I got the silent treatment until this morning when I heard : Babe, quick ,come have a look, there is that idiot Frenchman you like on Supercoach talk who did the same thing as me, see, see. We are in a happy mood now and going out for brunch because of you. Thanks. Keep stuffing up.

    Ok 1698/ 5players yet to play/ Vc Cripps/C Sheed

      1. I didn’t use to play supercoach but I couldn’t escape it. They say you cannot beat them, join them right? except I think I am better at it. And every time I say Father Dougal said this or All Saints said that or Jeannott suggested this or Schwarzwalder posted that… he think they are all idiots.. Then he Captains Conoglio and I didn’t . He should’ve asked meeeee.

  26. LaBomba and OriginalForce, good idea to take to my mate. Brunch or Dinner or glass of whisky from the lowest scoring captain of the round, formidable. I will try next time to be more flexible. My rule is to take 120+ from my VC. Rules are there to be broken I will bring it down to 105, maybe 104?

    1. Sure, but I always chase 130. Danger, macrae, Grundy, Cripps Odds are OK. Either break even or gain lose 20-30 points. Usually gain provided you only use proven captain options and not Neale, dusty, Sloane types. JUST MY PERSONAL THING not suggesting anyone should do it.
But it’s only a little gain? How often do you wish your rookie scored 50 and not 30? It helps.

I hate Sunday’s especially when your team looks like it might be looking at a decent score.
I get that churning feeling of impending doom in my guts, wife keeps yelling at me because im to busy checking scores and totally ignoring her, and just adding the obligatory “yes dear” now and then.
And generally by the end of the round most of my players have let you down and you curse the damned supercoach gods.

    Bloody Supercoach.
Anyway today is going to be a good day,

    B.Scott-Sicily-Macrae-Libba-Fyfe-Mundy to go.

Good luck to all the Sunday hopefuls

    1. 1899/ 18/ Rocky into Macrae.

Thanks for sharing guys. I know the feelings. My wife thinks I spend way too much time on SuperCoach , researching, reading. She doesn’t understand why I couldn’t just set my captain and VC and forget. I have to often sneak in the dunny to check and it makes me feel like I am cheating on her. She thinks I need to go to the Doctors to see what is wrong with me guts. Her mum thinks I am addicted too which doesn’t help the situation. I Traded in Rocky bcoz I got greedy hoping Rocky would go ballistic on Carlton. Hope Macrae doesn’t let me down.

Not unhappy with this score as I feel it could have been much worse.
Goldy Heeeney Martin & Coniglio &Scott all had shockers
Rescued by Libba, Lycett in particular.
Beat my score of last week so I am am going okay overall I reckon.
