Punters Club – Burls

Written by Motts on October 17 2014

Burls’ first bet for tomorrow is a multi:

Newcastle race 2 number 1 – Bridge Of Sighs (WIN) into
Caulfield r1 number 2 – Azkadallia (WIN) into
Randwick r1 number 11 – Tempt Me Not (PLACE) into
Caulfield r4 number 13 – Crafty (PLACE)

$25 @ Dividend

Burls’ second bet is a $25 quinella in the last at Caulfield:

R10 – 3 Anatina and 4 Cradle Me

(This is very unusual betting for Burls. Normally he loves a roughie. All of these bets look quite realistic! He must be trying to get a return for the club for the first time ever.)

Schwarzwalder has been in touch and given me the directions for his $25 worth of bonus bets.

None of you will be surprised to learn its a European soccer multi:

Spain Primera Division
Real Madrid -1 (Handicap), 1.44
Barcelona -1 (Handicap), 1.25

Germany Bundesliga
Bayern Munich -2 (Handicap), 1.70

Italian Serie A
Roma, 1.30
Juventus, 1.44 (both just to win)

$25 bonus bet @ $5.73 (I stuffed up and put this on as a Bonus Bet instead of as a Group Bet. Because of that I’ll put the Caulfield Cup trifecta on as a Group Bet (meaning we retain our initial stake if we win).

Caulfield Cup Group Bet

After looking at the votes and considering the horses that have been scratched – Dandino and Bande – I’ve boxed the following horses in a trifecta:

1 – Admire Rakti

8 – Hawkspur

9 – Junoob

11 – Who Shot Thebarman

13 – Stipulate

15 – Lucia Valentina

$25 bought us 11.9%. If any more get scratched that percentage will go up.

  1. Trying to keep things simple with my bonus bet. Sticking with some of the top sides in a few leagues to have some big wins. Those five are playing against sides on the opposite side of the table.
Plus here are a few tips for the Bundesliga:

** Bayern Munich (Handicap -2), 1.70 – Practically a lock each week, always hard to beat. 1st vs last this week as they play Bremen at home. Last season they won both games with 5-2 and 7-0! Expecting another big win, hence the ‘Handicap -2’ bet. Especially with a few national players disappointing in recent Euro qualifiers, they should come out ready to play.

** Mainz (or draw, Double Chance), 1.37 – Sitting sixth and unbeaten after the first seven rounds, they should prove too strong for Augsburg at home. Taking the double chance just to be safe.

** Hoffenheim (or draw, Double Chance), 1.50 – Surprise packet of the season till now. Like Mainz, they are unbeaten and are currently sitting 2nd behind Munich. Hamburg are coming off an impressive win against Dortmund (at odds of 10-1), just not sure they can back it up. Again, taking the double chance just to be safe.

** Freiburg vs Wolfsburg DRAW, 3.50 – All three of Freiburg’s home games have ended in draws this season. They seem to defend better at home, making it difficult for the opposition to score. Wolfsburg never really live up to expectations. They’ll start as favorties here but I’m fairly confident that Freiburg will make it hard for them……..has DRAW written all over it.

As for the horses, my old man gave me the good word about Bande…………and an hour later it had been scratched………think I’m better off sticking with the soccer bets 😉 Good luck Burls!!

  3. Hi Guys.

After a few beers last night in India I decided not to send my tips through as I did not want to be accountable if they lost.

Rightly so that is what Occurred.

Caulfield Race 2 No 9 Staviva, Run Home well after missing the start worth a follow 4th
Caulfield Race 6 No 6 Girl Guide, Let me down 2 weeks running Catkins was the concern, passed Catkins in the Straight running down the leader, but just did not get there 2nd
Race 7 No 9 Sign Off, 3rd is about all I can say for that run
Race 9 No 11 Who shot the Barman, not worth a cracker.
Randwick Race 4 No 2 Kuro Winner Winner Chicken Dinner and did it easy.
Doomben Race 4 No 1 Hi Son did not see the race but came 3rd.
Morphetville Race 4 No 1 Eclar Samba, had a great run although the leader shot out by 15 length, on the turn Eclar had Run in Down but beaten down the outside then the thing 15 length in front kick again passed my spaz horse, useless run 3rd. Any decent horse would have won.
Morphetville Race 5 No 4 Differing Fortunes, this was the 70/1 shot, jumped well sat nicely in 5th Jockey up each way fingers crossed turned into the straight appeared to have a easy run, but certainly justified its 70/1 never gave a kick and finished stone motherless last.

So in all I am happy I did not put them up otherwise I would have some unhappy guys on the site today.

I hope some of you guys had some luck on the GG today.

  4. Wouldn’t you know it? We got booted out of that soccer Multi in the last leg. Juventus could only manage a draw against lowly Sassuolo. Othetwise the other four teams won by three goals or more……..bugger! Sorry guys…….

  5. By now, you should all be painfully aware that we didn’t manage to add to the bank balance over the weekend with Burls, Schwarzy and our Group Bet all going down.

    Ouch.

Up this week will be one of the two new blokes to join the Punters Club this season: Bonsai!

  6. In the 1st test between the Aussies and Pakistan I reckon Pakistan at $5.50 are good value with the Draw at $3.70 a good bet as well with both teams able to bat long periods in Tests.
The Aussies are far too short at $1.70 considering they don’t play spin or swing bowling well. Also their best batsman in Clarke only made 5&10 in the warm up match against Pakistan A is a concern. The Aussies might also play a couple of debutants.
Pakistan will be frustrating dropping catches and missing chances but at the odds are worth a small punt on.

  7. I think we might be home and we will be able to count our cash tomorrow night Mutts.
You should have won enough Mutts to have a bet or try on the flexi trifectas myself and OMG have put on the cup for the punters club that Motts will have up tomorrow at some stage.
