Be very wary of taking Pierro first up fellow punters, he may very well smash them but surely the odds are too prohibitive. In the last 10 years only 2 Golden Slipper winners have won first up from a spell as written about in this story…

By the way if you want an early speculative bet on the Melbourne Cup have a little bit each way on a Lloyd Williams horse called Tanby, currently $71 with Sportingbet. Ran a good 2nd in the Geelong cup last year (behind Dunaden) before winning the Bendigo Cup.
Ran a slashing race (2nd up) last Saturday and I suspect come the first Tuesday in November he’ll be there abouts when the whips are cracking. Lloyd lives for trying to win Melbourne Cups and I suspect this guy has been set for it along time ago.
