    ones on the chopping block
    – zorko- (64) apparently is injured
    – Roughy- disappointing 59 against a poor Geelong ruck outfit
    – hannerberry- (85) risky option, didn’t pay off
    – karnezis- (60) part of my mid pricers forward line, unsure about him but looked good in the NAB cup
    – Smith- (72) as #1 ruck option as Suns, thought he would flouish, willing to give him another crack though
    – varcoe (61) same as karnezis

Disappointing return today with Buddy & Varcoe, but happy enough with the start to the year.
Now to start tweaking the team for next week.

  3. 2,335/Swan..

    Roughead, Zorko & Dangefield pathetic.

Happy with Jacobs, Grimes, Hartlett, Gibbs, Goodes, Pittard, Swan, Pendles, JPK, Fyfe, Viney, Wines, Rockliff and even Jenkins.. Cox was ok but did expect more.

  5. Ended up on 2335ish… Depends on Bartel’s score.

Very happy with Swallow against the Pies… My only win with the POD’s.

Hanley only getting a reprimand is handy for sure and Zorko will bounce back.

Viney’s ton sitting on the bench won’t happen again… Teething problems but no early trades needed which is nice.

  6. happy with blicav for a first up game. he mistimed his jump a little in the ruck but he will learn. hope the cats give him a little more of a run cause he could be a handy chop out ruckman and maybe a third defender or forward.

dont know if I am happy with Varcoe and his 61. good he clear break even but we were all hoping for around 80.

finished with a slightly disappointing 2140.

  7. love to know how that fella that was on 2700 prior to this game.

really hope he had another blinder and gets close to that magically 3000 mark

  8. 2338/JPK. Happy with that. Lecra to Kennedy & Harlett to Watts looks the obvious. Really think Watts has no heart.

  9. Was going to downgrade Franklin – Zorko and upgrade Swan – Ablett but unfortunately I decided that 5 minutes into the WB v Bris game. #spewing.
Now doing my research, I have found that Franklin isnt good value for money, at 600k you would want 100+ pts regulary but he only scored that 10 times last year, if it wasn’t for his 200+ score last year he would be around the 500k mark 🙁

  10. Final score of 2226 with GAZZ as Captain.
Nine members of my paid league finished sub 2000 this week, including a 1387, so they definitely failed to follow SuperCoach Talk over the summer! Looks like I might be reaping the rewards this season! 😀

Ablett (178), Pendlebury (160), Gibbs (150), Wines (125) and Viney (117) were stand outs this week, earning themselves a big tick for round 1! Viney and Wines were very impressive for their first matches of AFL football against the big blokes!

Watts (48), Zorko (60), Roughead (58), Dangerfield (63), Shuey (56) and Karnesis (60) were quite a worry, and I’ll have my eye on them in the coming weeks! Watts and Roughead looked uninterested and lazy, so will be watching them closely in the coming weeks! #whatareyouguysdoing #notpaidforthat
Overall content with round one, and embarrassingly, this may actually be my greatest score ever as I was pretty abysmal last year!

Waiting on Friday; bring on round two!

i’m giving dangerfield, zorko, roughead a warning not much you can do with maccafer.
however rapt with Birchall today! I would’ve liked the extra 60 points with gaz as captain, and also viney on the field instead of stevens. Traded out goldstein for roughhead which was a poor choice, but bring on round 2!

  12. Pretty shizzen start to the year all round.

2174/JPK when it seems 2300 was a pass mark in a big scoring round 1. Lowly 3 tips and there was some game today that I didn’t really enjoy.

Rookies were a highlight (how bad would my score have been if it wasn’t for Wines, Viney, Goodes & Pittard) and most of my guns did their job. It was the punts where it all went wrong. Watts has to go and I’m thinking about downgrading Buddy for now to get the cash for Hartlett. Dangerfield better step up but I probably have to stick with him. If Rich doesn’t perform next week Mundy will be looking really good. Steven and Smith were just average but I’ll show some faith there for now.

If I found the magic lamp right now I’d happily waste a wish on another crack. As it is those extra trades might get burnt pretty quick.

  14. 2280/GAJ

Positives – Selwood, birchall, ablett captain, pendles, Gibbs, Maric, viney, wines and goodes (on bench)
Negatives – yarran, buddy, roughead, brown on field instead of goodes, Stevenson on field instead of pittard, karnezis and macaffer

    Although a decent first round!

    What to do with lecras?

    Thumbs up – trade

    Thumbs down – hold on

    Thanks

slightly disappointing day today but can’t complain too much. Was Hoping to crack 2500 with 156 needed from both Blicavs and Varcoe..

Possible trades next week could be Murphy to S.Mitchell depending on their games in round 2 and keeping my eye on Karnezis and Dusty. Karnezis, Varcoe and Heppell were the only disappointments.

Not happy, but that’s what happens when you get a glaring doughnut in the first round thanks to Heath Shaw’s late out. Dangerfield and Zorko on the chopping block.

Unhappy with Danger, Ryder and Buddy…Cost just under 2 mill for a return of 175……
Happy with rookies smashing tons….I dont feel like ive really missed any of them thus far ( although i felt i had at quarter time today lol) Forward line cheapies was looked at as a concern b4 the season and has turned out that way with really only Kennedy looking value for money….
After last year im just happy to escape the weekend injury free ( as he knocks on wood)

No GAJ, no worries! 🙄 Bah! I’ll bring him in later! Most things went to plan bar keeping Wines on the bench for Kobi, (a)pathetic Watts, and McCafe as F6. Zmith was ok but expect more.

Will turn Daw into Krooozer this week, and manoeuvre Cox into the forwards (to get McCafe onto the bench). Zmith may become Griffin the week after.

Chopping block – Watts, Daw (strategic reasons)
    Monitor – Kobi, Zmith

Bring on the end of the lockout!

All the usual Positives and Negatives. Went Dusty to Watts last minute and was not happy. Dusty got his usual 70-80 at halftime then ends up with 86.When will he turn it on? Watts you have 1 game to give me a ton or your getting the big red T.

Any thoughts on who to trade too? I think keep the same team for this week.

  22. 1 round in and alarm bells ringing everywhere. 2319 a respectful score but it’s a worry when your rookies outperform your premiums…

Zorko, Bennell, Heppell, Goddard, Bartel all sub-100 which is worrying. Step it up boys!

On a more positive note, think I might’ve found a ripper in Bradley Hill. 1st quarter was great, shame he got subbed though.

Had a decently good round but should have got in the 2500 with varcoe franklin scoring terrible and duffield scoring a bit average.
Went with a risk and chose sammy mitchell over jobe and it paid off. Very happy with some young guns and pendles and gazz and gibbs scoring over 140 each

Had Mitch Robinson and Kane Mitchell on field, going for league win so not to fussed but wish I had picked Mundy over 1 of my 5 600k+ players and not got Mitch Robinson. Thinking of getting rid of Robbo but the last two seasons the 50k winners have not traded untill round 3 so ill have to have a strong think. Could’ve got around 2300 if Mitchell and Robbo were right.

    Happy with my team overall.
Special thumbsup to Swan, Ablett, Gibbs, Wines & Pendles
Have to thank my other rookies as well.
    Now to the choping block
    1. Danger… Bad bad game, I’m gettng very nervous holding you. I hear you had the flu so may give you one more week.
    2. Ellis- For 300k a score of 35 doesnt even come close -Fired
    3. Zorko – You played injured, so I will forgive this game
    4. Franklin – For you that score is possible, next week it could be 200. Your the best Foward there is, so I’ll keep you, but no more scoring like that.
    5. Macaffer – Your only there because I don have anone better to replace you with. Pull up your socks.

  27. 2246/GAJ…………..only just happy with that start for R1.

Thanks Gaz, Pendles, Gibbs & JPK………….gr8 effort Goodes, Wines & Viney on debut…..awesome effort!

Several players on the chopping block!

Highlight over Easter ( I know, no1 bad dad 2013 ) Proud of my 8 year old son, he said to me after todays game………..I really hate the Cats dad……… I think it’s only that we haven’t frikken beaten them since he’s understood footy since the 2008 GF when he was 4!

Found this site in the pre-season, top analysis and tips, keep up the great work!

    Now to my vents:
    – Robinson’s noggin hurt.
    – Had Wines through the pre-season, only to change to Toumpas prior to Mel/PA match.
    – Nick Lower as a unique backfired badly. Similar sentiments for Houli and Lucas.

  30. 2277/Swan

    Top 5: Pendlebury (160) Gibbs (150) JPK (147) Swan (136) Wines (125)

Special mentions: Hartlett, Rockliff, Goodes, Jacobs, Deledio, Viney, Pittard

Won’t be trading this week, don’t feel the need to hit the panic button after one poor performance. Dangerfield and Franklin will keep their spots although Buddy looked lazy and uninterested today and will be on the chopping block with another effort like that in RD 2.
Viney on the bench was unlucky and no Ablett was plain stupid.
Hoping Blicavs, Rowe or Daw are named otherwise I’ll be in trouble in the rucks.

The countdown begins for Friday night!

  31. I’m happy For a round 1 score of 2249 considering that it is a long season and most of my 30 players got a game. Wasn’t really happy with zorko ryda goddard hepps duffield. Hill getting subbed was a bummer. Had an amazing 1st qtr. I also don’t have viney because I needed a mid/fwd link in my mids and chose neade. I want to keep kommer because I believe that the dons will consistently give him games. But if viney is going to continue to keep killing it I will be forced to make a trade.
Mid rookies are omeara wines hill kommer and neade. If I am to bring in viney who gets the chop? I suppose kommer? Like everyone I’m gonna have an itchy T finger. Gotta remain calm and stick to my game plan

  32. A nice even 2300 to start the season.

10,467th is an ok starting point to launch an attack for Overall Glory.
The site is obviously worth following when the SCT League of Extraordinary Coaches #1 starts off the season ranked 66th. We’ve got some talent around these parts!

  33. Fails – Heath shaw (with Terlich and Vlastuin on the bench because a) the backline looked safe & b) at the in laws all weekend and didn’t want to be glued to my phone.

    – having Viney on the bench and Toumpas on the field

    – my pods – Harry Taylor, Hawkins, Watts

    – buddy, danger, Goddard

Players like Blicavs, Varcoe, Karnezis etc are passable

    Overall 2020. Massive fail.

  34. Finished with 2414 and sure am happy with that. Ranked 1335 at the moment and aiming to push into that top 1000. Although not sure about the guy that claimed he had scored 2700 considering the highest score was 2622…… interesting.

  35. Score of 2457 and ranked 384. Pretty happy with that after being dirty with the likes of Dangerfield and Goddard after week 1. Gablett, Pendles, Swan, JPK, Rockliff, Gibbs and Grimes the standouts.

  37. 2251/GAJ Not too bad for a horribly long round 1.
Happy with Gibbs, GAJ, Pendles, JPK, Mundy, Rockliff.
rookies that performed above expectations Pittard, Goodes, Wines. Viney and O’Meara both unfortunately benched. (Had Mitchell and Hill on field – Hill’s first quarter looked promising)
Honourable mention to LeCras – cant take a trick. Have to decide should I keep or trade, unfortunately Fwd line really needs a replacement.
Would like to see more from Danger, Franklin, Goddard, Cox, Zorko.

    Bring on R2.

  38. 2241.
My entire foward line need to lift their game (possible exception in Cox though I was still expecting higher than a 96 with Nic Nat out). Especially happy with Gibbs, Goodes, Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin & Swan. Ruck devision were both solid with scores of 112 and 102.

As mentioned previously, I would have changed Kane Mitchell to Ollie Wines had I known he was going to play as the sub. Rolling lockouts= remember to keep a bloody ear out! Might have to go shopping with my $100k purse… Or do I wait a week or two. I personally don’t think it’s even worth waiting.. Honestly don’t know why I didn’t pick Wines in the first place, especially when I saw how good he was watching the live draft. So annoyed at myself more than any of my players.

How did our SCTTL’s fare? I got 1736 O_o but at least in the eight! (7th in SCTTL3)

  39. 2296/Gaz

Mitchell on field but very happy with Gaz, Pendles, Cotch, Rok, Gibbs, Rocky and my rookie selections.
Disappointed with scores from Longer, Karnesis, Zork (unlucky injury), Varcoe
Looking to trade Broughton … yes Broughton. I got stuck trying to pull off a five rookie back line but Vlastin then Terlich not named wrecked that plan (not much I could do by Saturday morning but hope for the best).
The good news is I left $200k in bank to fix the structure.

    Trading to be done.

  40. We got any lawyers in our midst? What do I need to do to be excused for laying Jeff Kennet on his self-servicing arrogant arse?

F#%k the curse! Geelong have the wood on us because they have more self belief when it matters. But now, because he is so pathetic and worried about being blamed for this he has called for Clarko’s head after one game. This does nothing but undermine what we are trying to do. I’ve backed him up for a long time because he helped make us an off-field success but no more.

Shut your mouth you f&%cking dinosaur and realise that the only people who give a shit about what you say are the journos who can get some cheap headlines out of it!

    Rant over.

  41. 2409/Gaz

The people I’m disappointed with are:
Goddard- probably still getting used to Essendons game plan, would have been good to have Hartlett though, that kid can play.
Zorko/Karnezis- hoping it was just a bad day for the lions. Not in any real danger of being traded.
Dangerfield- hoping the reports that he was playing with the flu are true, will probably have to hold him.
Lecras- great game but why did you have to get injured! That’s one trade gone already, I think Koby Stevens is also injured? So that’s two already.
Macaffer- scoring 44 as a F6 is probably a bit below what I was hoping for but I guess he costs the same as a rookie so can’t complain. Hopefully he regains his form from that year he averaged 80 odd but not too worried.

Everyone else I was pretty happy with, looking at a
    Lecras > Kennedy
    Stevens > Wines

People shouldn’t be panicking about their premiums just yet based on one round. You chose them to be keepers and you can’t judge them from the one week.

  42. my Forward Line is an absolute diagrace

  43. 2398/GAJ -Pretty happy all round. I should have had an extra 70 by having Wines on the field instead of the pine, but live-n-learn.

Those waiting for GAJ to drop in price – bad decision
Loving the tons form the rookies – but word of waring, don’t expect that every week.
specific to me – Loved Grimmes, my two less common rucks Goldy and Krooz delivered 125 and 114… couldn’t be happier. Selwood – I actually think i love another man, went to the game and he was unbelievable! Rockliff, what a fantastic effort, and still can’t quite understand why people took Zoko ahead of him, but maybe it’s just me who deosn’t like paying 500k for a second year rookie.

I can’t say I’m completely disappointed, just that hindsight is a bitch.
Picking my team however is only half the battle, I’ve made some bad choices here but the year is just starting.

  51. 2387/GAJ. I’m happy with my decision to stick with the regular as captain, and happy with a solid start. Only a couple of things annoying me.
    – Dane Zorko’s round 1 performance. But he will stay, and hopefully lift.
    – Starting Kane Mitchell ahead of Nick Kommer. Mitchell making 13 and Kommer ripping out 70 made me regret that.
All in all, I’m satisfied with a solid start. Bring on the head-to-head!

  54. Keep or trade Luke Shuey?

Thought he’d be such a massive POD with break out potential this year. Watched the game and past the first quarter no one from West Coast seemed to have a good game so I’m not panicked, and he managed to still rack up 6 tackles, which is a decent effort.

    Trade – Thumbs Up
    Keep – Thumbs Down
