  1. Hi,
Should I start someone like Hamling so I can loophole McIntosh’ 120 or should I just forget his score and lock a rookie who has been named?

  2. Average start so far, salvaged somewhat by having McIntosh on the field
    224/3
    Martin, Cripps & McIntosh

  3. For all our worrying about the defensive line, I got 3 from 3 tons out of last night’s game (Simpson, Rance and McIntosh). Thanks to Dusty and Cripps, my overall isn’t as good though.

  6. G’day everyone!!

My start was the same as DJ above – 224/3 (Martin, Cripps & McIntosh).

Cripps was very one paced, but Carlton didn’t use him on a lot of occasions. Given he can take a grab / kick a goal playing forward, I still think he is firmly in Malthouse’s plans – so need to panic about him just yet.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but can I get a few thoughts on who is the best forward rookie to replace Lambert on the FWD bench. I already have Gray / Bartel / Dusty / Swan / Salem / M Clark (Hogan / ?), and have $156,500. Options would be:

Lonie $117.3K – not sure if he will survive the cut today, very slight, but great user of the ball. Can score very well
T Lamb $117.3K More physically ready than Lonie but inconsistent, will probably only play 4 – 5 games before Darling is ready
McGrath $117.3K Have only seen him a few times, looked OK, but there are lots trying to get into that small Brisbane forward line
Tarrant $144.7K Injury prone, and surely he goes when Hansen comes back
A Saad $151.1K Pretty good JS, but not a great scorer, and I’m not sure I should have $151K on my forward bench

I’m leaning towards Lonie or McGrath, but would love any thoughts or insights. Thanks.

  7. Need advice supercoaches….Given that M11 is pretty much a useless spot, is it worth bringing in a non-playing DPP like McKenzie to loophole in McIntosh? Having 120 sitting on the bench gives me the irrits.

  8. 423/5/(Fyfe)

Poor from Martin and Cripps but Taylor and mcintosh proving to make my backline extremely solid this season

  9. 385/5/Gaz/Fyfe
Seems like the reasonable start up scores are the blokes who had McIntosh on the field, and to a lesser extent, Hunt. Looks like a few of us had the Dusty/Cripps double flop to keep it interesting. I had the triple flop of Simon White (coming off a good preseason of attacking footy) tagging Dusty in a lose lose situation if ever there was one. Managed to get 200 out of McIntosh and Yarren, but gonna need some blinders over the weekend.

  10. FYI Motts,

It seems as if the symbols only appear if you actually hit “click to edit” comment. They then stay on until you refresh the page or change threads. I left this page open for 10 minutes and they were there the whole time until I refreshed. Don’t know whether this helps in any way?
PS Yep, just edited and they reappeared!!

  12. 186/2/Mason Cox*

McIntosh & Lids done & dusted leaving me some more team tinkering time.

    D. Esky/Heater/Newnes/KK/Oxley/McIntosh – Saad/Goddard
    M. Jesus/Dependlebury/Fyfe/Parker/Danger/Anderson/Heeney/Ellis-Yolman – Smith/Miller/Lambert
    R. Ryder/Bellchamber – Mason
    F. Gray/Lids/Goddard/Swanlow/Salem/Clarke – Hogan/Lamb

In case someone can spot the glaring obvious that i am missing.

  14. Main team (Harbour Heroes) 1372/14/ Taylor Hunt. Yes, seriously, T Hunt.
Scttl team (Neale & Swallow) 1083/12. With Parker (vc) knocked out going gray
Dad’s team (Hawk Heroes) 799/8/Sidebottom. Another bad luck captain option.

Any Afl fantasy/dreamteam 971/12/ablett vc. Can’t captain loophole. Oops.

  15. 1303 / 14 / Pendles
Lids and Dusty really dragging that score down. Plus Sidebottom and Parker had decent scores from three qtrs of play before injury struck. And I’ll be sweating on Lids at the tribunal. Looks like corrective trades will be made early. Have said it before…….even with all the research, you still need that ounce of luck once the season starts.

  23. 2028 Gray (c)
Burgoyne and Mitch Clark to come.
Took a break last couple years form SC. Think I’ve had my fun in Rd1. Can only go downhill from here.
Good to see SCT going from strength to strength.

  24. 1931 / 20 / JPK

Joelwood and Clark to come. Lots to think about from this round. Mixture of good news stories and head scratching. Could’ve been a lot more if I fielded the right rookies. Lotsa points sitting on my bench.

  25. 1892/Fyfe (over pendles) Duckwood and Clark to come. Be happy if I scrape to 2000 (and with the way the premiums have gone this weekend, it could be bad news for Duckwood!!)

Hibberd stinking up the rear … can’t complain about 68 from Goodes I suppose. Shaw also questionable. The collingwood rookies looking like poor Def choices I’m thinking?
Cripps poor in the mids and I left Vandenberg score on the bench. Touk Miller may be a poor choice as well?
Rucks with Goldy and Nic Nat I can live with … especially this year with the score system!!
Forwards need some serious work with unforgivable scores by Goddard and Dusty and poor choice by me playing Salem over Hogan. McGrath a nice last minute trade in when Lamb named emergency.

Feel very frazzled this weekend!! I’m a “leaguey” in Brisvegas and doing the NRL SC up here, so trying to stay on top of my cash teams here as well as trying to get the latest news for the AFL with late subs etc etc has made it very hard!! I’m not easily able to see the final teams named and the subs etc … and generally relying on the AFL teams listing site which seems very slow at updating!! Hitting refresh every minute or so and not seeing subs come up until about 15 minutes from start time is very poor on the AFL behalf … IMO.

Hence I am relying on this fantastic site and general community sharing and many thanks to all for putting up with my “who’s the sub” or “team lists” posts at times!! … Credit to you all!! …

Also running the Missus team and joining the SCTTL team for the first time this year has added to the “panic” with late team listings etc etc (I missed taking JPK as captain VC and Saad on bench … damn!!) … but gee still a bit of a rush!

Again, a big thank you to all that run the site and to the community in general … looking forward to a good season!!

P.S Mottsy, do I send the lawyers bills to you for my impending divorce??? (i keep assuring the missus that “I could win the $50K …” don’t think she is falling for it anymore!!!)

    Night all!!

  26. 1975 – Sloane baby Sloane (c). M Clark & Big Roughy to play. Happy I’ll be cracking 2K given the p$ss poor performances of Dusty, Goddard and even Ryder to a degree. Also had Lumumba and the hyped up Newnes turn in some ordinary numbers. Could be worse I s’pose!

  27. 1786/20/Pendles

    Clark and Selwood to go.

Not the start i hoped for……

It’s far from beyond repair though, the main problem is points on the bench. like Vandenberg and Heeney, whilst playing Touk Miller and Cripps.

One or two corrective trades and better best 22 selection, and i’m confident i’ll be competitive.

  28. 1794 / 19 / Pendles

Smartest thing I did was drop Maric to Bellchambers (never thought I’d say that) 😉 Freed up more cash dropping Goldstein to McEvoy. I want to sit out the whole ruck situation a little, till they bottom out. Sidebottom out up to six weeks. Deledio could face suspension. Have to make corrective trades if that’s the case. Luckily have enough cash on the side plus rookies performed well. Ride out this early storm……

  29. 1949/20/T Hunt. Mitch Clark and Jimmy Bartel to come.

With the ruck score system disaster, a dearth of dpp’s and some rookie (and premo) issues I am expecting high 21’s. I think that will be competitive.

No rocky or sidey to worry about injury either.

  30. 1958/20/Fyfe. Selwood and Clarke to go.

Happy to crack 2000 in round 1. Hopefully will go over 2100 which seems like a competitive score.

Some PODs paid off and others didn’t. Biggest failure was Boak. He just can’t handle a tag.

  31. Listening to everyone’s ruck gripes it’s got me seriously considering getting rid of Maric for a fwd of the same price. I’d then have a mid pricer ruck combo of TBC and Lycett. That move will dominate my thinking this week.

  32. 2090/Fyfe

Very happy with Gray, Goldie, Fyfe, Dangers, Bonts, Pendles & Simpson all raising the bat. Special mention to McIntosh, Vandenberg, Heeney, Saad &
Ellis-Yolmen on their 1st SC game.

Plenty of upside with….Shaw, Selwood, Martin & Goodard all to improve in R2

  33. 1967/Gazza
    Plenty of room for improvement
Positives-my last minute decision to go Simpson instead of Hibberd paid off.other positives were Vanderberg,Heeney,Wines,Bonts, Gray, Mcintosh,CEY,and Saad
Negatives-last minute decision to ditch Swanny, and leaving Mcintosh on the pine while Oxley was on the field. Other negatives were Lumumba,Newnes,Johnson,Suckling,Cripps,Marric,And Dustbin

  34. 2094/Heppell

    Positives
    – 10 out of 22 scored tons first up including TEX, brodie smith, bonts, swan, mcintosh fyfe and gray all putting up big ones.
    – No injuries

    Negatives
    – 7 out of 22 scores below 60 (KK,mckenzie, hibberd, cripps, martin, salem and daniher)
    – didnt pick hogan or vandenberg. so i will have to spend a couple of trades getting these boys in before their price skyrockets
