R10 Captain Selection

Written by Duck on May 31 2013

I’ve been dabbling a bit with the VC > C fallback option the last few weeks, always relying on the backup after getting a less than impressive score from Dane or whoever else I’d had.

This week i’m tempted to just lock in GAJ from the outset, but part of me wants to flirt with danger and put the VC on GAJ, with an option to put Buddy under pressure to perform on Sunday. A risky move, but he looked the goods for at least a 1/2 of footy last week, and the Hawks are playing the Dees this Sunday …. he could kick 10?

For a straight out Captain, who are you going to rely on?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

  1. Mornin Mutley. You certainly found the best place to learn this game, and great great choice to follow Adelaide.

  2. Tempted to go Stevie J, but GAJ kicking flukey goals from 60m out with the wind going the wrong way is hard to go past…

Will put the VC on Swan, but don’t expect much.

  3. I am going vc ablett and buddy as backup. If I had to choose just one it would be gaj, but I dont have to.

Trying to think if I have managed to use the loophole yet. Think the answer is honestly no, its been gaj every week.

  4. Tossing up who the better option is on Saturday night. Stevie J or GAJ. Reckon they’ll both go large. Currently thinking I’ll have one of them as vc and Buddy as the backup on Sunday in case Stevie J or GAJ fail to fire which is unlikely.

  5. Can’t go past Gaz. This will be as close as we will ever get to the second coming of Jesus

  6. Putting the VC on Pendles, but not expecting him to go too big. C to go on “THE REASON” Steve J, he has a habit of mauling lower sides especially at home.

Historically Gaz does not pile on the numbers vs the Cats, last year he was tagged for the first 3 quarters then the tag went to Harbrow, he finished with 64 points in the 4th to total 110 for the game. 108 the year before, the Reason on the other hand avg’s 158 vs the Suns.

  7. First time in a long time that I can’t remember Ablett being involved in my captaincy, as he clashes with my number 1 option.

    VC: Swan.

He has been in poor form but he is a champ. Last four against Brisbane: 170, 122, 132, 138. Fully expect Raines to go to Pendlebury so Swan can run free and make the kind of statement that he likes to make.

    C: S Johnson.

He just rips the bad teams. Against the four worst teams running around right now:
Vs Gold Coast (both career games): 162, 155
Vs GWS (only career game): 156
Vs Melbourne (last two years): 199, 169
Vs Western Bulldogs (last three years): 147, 146, 103, 160

That’s a lot of very high scores!

  8. Cloke with the VC for mine. No Merrett in means that Patfull is going to be in for a long night!

  9. Going to put the VC on Danger, last two games against Freo he went 145 and 187. Then I have GAJ with the C.

  10. With Jobe Watson up against Sydney, I’m not confident putting the VC on anyone playing against the bloods. JPK burned me last week with the VC, so he’s not going to get it back.

Ablett might not go as high as he usually does, so I’ll put the VC on him (just over Bartel) and leave Nic Nat as back-up, based on his recent scores at Patersons and that Maric seems to be suffering somewhat.

A lot of VC+C options are playing each other this week. Jobe v JPK. Bartel v Gazza, Deledio & Martin v Priddis, Cox and Nic Nat.

Of course, Bryce Gibbs v GWS could be a left-field option.

  11. Going to to Ablett vice capt into Buddy capt

If Ablett pulls a decent one, then I’ll bring Viney onto the ground and make him capt

Otherwise betting on Buddy to smash the Dees. He looks like he is going to get it together soon. His 2nd half last week was a vast improvement

  12. Jobe VC and Gazza C.

My only concern though is will there be enough time between matches (3 hr difference between Gazza and Jobe’s matches) for this loophole to work?

  13. Rumours abound that Swanny might be having the night off. Resting, injured, disinterested???

Anyways. Mr Reliable – S.Pendles for VC.

Nic Nat for C against a mediocore Tiggers.

  14. Geez, as you start to load up your side it becomes tougher to decide on your Loop hole to Gaz,
    Watson Sydney Nah
    Murph GWS Maybe
    Buddy Dees Maybe
    Danger Freo Nah
    Cox or Nic Nat hmmmm

Well I stuck it last week for VC Buddy 85 points in the second half reckon this could be the week for the big fellow and I would be really pissed if I missed it.

  15. Bloody decisions, vc on plendles and c on ablettio

    However

T/U daisy>staker and terlich to s.johnson (leaves 420k in bank to roll out next few weeks)

T/D daisy + omeara > watson + johnson (leaves me with 11k and no staker)

Only need 5 premiums with 15trades left after first option

  16. VC on Pendulbury, much more consistant than Swan.
Jelwood, Cotchin, Priddis, JPK or maybe even Stevie J if Pendels stuffs it up, thoughts on who?

If pendels scores around 125+ ill take that

  17. I went swan over Pendles for the loophole. Should I take his 130, or chuck the C on Stevie J or Gaz Abs ( I’m think Stevie J out of those two)

    TU Take Swans 130
    TD Take a gamble!

  18. Does anyone think the Cats v Suns game might throw up some rain effected scores?

Currently have 119 from pendles as vc with God Junior as C but wondering if I should select a ‘fair weather’ captain or possibly even take pendles’ score?

Thumbs up – Stick with GOD Junior he will carve it up in the wet tonight under lights!
Thumbs down – pick another C from the likes of Buddy, Priddis or Cotchin

    Comment – Bank pendles’ 119
