Should I make the Bench Trade of Trengove->Rohan, then R2 Nic Nat->Cox to partner Sandi in my ruck?

How about Gysberts instead of Rohan?

Rohan is DPP, but Gysberts is cheap cheap cheap.

I have to bring in Goodes this week. But who to trade for…? With him being a DPP, the options are a plenty. Last 5 games – 113, 62, 27, 103, 81. BE: 59. Started the year $600k+, now $396k
Downgrade/ sideways:
J Brown – seriously misfiring. BE 140
D Wells – Super inconsistant, had a good patch but got downhill and now injured with a groin. BE 140
L Ball – Have we seen the best of him? BE 102
Upgrades:
Gumby – Probably has peaked, but at least is playing. BE 82
Duncan – Named as Emerg again. BE 44
D Martin – Despite speculation of million dollar contracts, seems to be nearing his 1st year limit. BE 59

Thoughts?

Im going to trade out Martin, he price isn’t going to rise any time soon if he only obtains his average. I’m keeping my faith in Brown,

So i reckon either:
Ball, Wells or Martin.

Either Brown or Wells. I’d go Brown if I could cover Wells’ injury.

Anyone know how long he’s out?

PS – I’m not expecting Motts to offer any advice this week, I’m up against the Maulers this week.

I got plenty of advice for you, Sneaky.

Get rid of Wells – the guy has never lived up to his potential. Smack yourself in the head for ever bringing him in and then press the T next to his name.

He’s made 90k for me and performed above expectations, until recently.

So maybe just a minor concussion and then trade.

harvey is suffering from the weight of the team on his back. BE 132
ROK is not travelling great either at the moment, but will probably go gangbusters again after the break. BE 141
I like Goodes – see below.
Roughie has come back into form, and the hawks are at least talking it up in the media. Altho, Roughie usually has a few good games and then disappoints. Last year, I think he got a 171 or something and then averaged around 80 or so.

Got any inside info on Marcus Davies? Will he play often? Does he have any skill?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Reply

Motts May 27, 2010 at 5:59 pm

OK first of all there’s no guarantees he’s going to play.
Second of all – do you know how hard it is to break into the Carlton midfield? Its easier to get out of a Barry Hall headlock. With names like McLean, Hadley, Walker and Grigg all to select from I seriously doubt MD is going to get a run.

To give you some info on him though: he’s a quick midfielder/defender who possesses great power and endurance, as well as sounds skills by hand and foot. He performed well as a key defender for Tasmania at last year’s U-18 championships. Works hard and is prepared to run and carry the ball.

Mottsy’s trades this week:
Out: Nason, In: Greenwood – made $15k but more importantly gained a D/M DPP
Out: Ziebell, In: Cooney

Then subbed Gilbee out of my midfield to bolster my backline and brought Cooney into my midfield by subbing him off the bench for Greenwood.

Backline now looks like this:
Hodge, Goddard, Enright, Gilbee, Waters, Hunt, Webberley with Silvagni and Kennelly cooling their feet.

Midfield looks like:
Ablett, Selwood, Gibbs, Cooney, ROK, Barlow with Greenwood and Basti getting splinters.

Just sitting back with a glass of red admiring the boys. And how damn clever I am.

Am now in the single digits for trades so that’s it until finals.

Will keep an eye on Jordan Gysberts (Pick 11 in 2009 draft), Melbourne rates him highly. If he performs I will end up downgrading Dustin Martin to get him, giving me $600,000 with 12 trades to go.

I’d go Goodes and bank the remaining cash for LTI and finals trading. Taking Chappy with only 7 left is risky given his hammy and Bomber’s likelihood of giving him a break in the last 4 rds.

Know what you’re saying 4s, but surely you can wait a couple weeks on Partridge, he hasn’t played a game all year and his price won’t change until his played 3 games in a row. You’re better off with Goodesy imo, he should kill it against the Hawks this week.

4s
I acknowledge your strategy is to have multiple points of difference however, similar to your decision to play Jaench in front of jPod not once but twice, there are a couple of entrenched questions that need to be asked when considering this trade. IMHO they are:
- whilst Petrie has a sound long term average he is historically an inconsistent scorer and is coming off an LTI; and
- Armstrong’s job security is problematic given he was dropped after the Richmond game and hence may cause you more “dead weight” problems heading into the serious part of the season.
Good luck (PS: suggest you play jPod this week as J is still banished.)

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Deano May 27, 2010 at 10:35 pm

Without seeing your bench its difficult however IMHO consider these:
- plan to get Godds in your mids as a DPP for HedgeHog (maybe when Barlow tops out);
- instead of Petrie try Goodes particularly now when he is $200K off (and a DPP with ROK);
- Motts loves the feel of big Cox; and
- oh yeah that’s right (sorry – lost my train of thought there) try to get the Massive in as a keeper soon as his price is escalating.
Remember if you’re out of the overall, the important point is that SC finals are played in the last 4 H&A rds therefore you want to have at least 4 trades going in for “rests” or injuries and premiums playing.

Brown to Goodes is sideways and you’ll kick yourself if the former comes good as he has his whole career;
Fisher for me as the Saints’ draw in the last 4 rds is markedly easier than the Dogs’ and this is when SC finals are played.

Do u have any one on ur bench to cover Kennelly? And dont stress about Brown he will come good imo. The midseason break is comin up and i think he will be refreshed for the secondhalf of the year. Im in the same position as you im keepin brown and i have players on the bench to replace Kennelly.

I think his only real chance of playing again is with injury/rest policy and therefore not consistent given they’ve picked the Colonel over him this week. Pity given his 44 BE, DPP and potential however I plan to upgrade him to someone like Neon if he comes good closer to the vinegar stroke as I’ve chewed up too many trades to use him as a CC but at least have significant bench coverage.

I was thinking of downgrading Duncan to McNeil DPP (F/M) even if he doesn’t a game this year at $83,400 he can be switched to and from the midfield and the forward line when the time is right. Then will the extra cash I’m upgrading Martin to Marc and then my midfield will be complete for the rest of the season (barring injuries of course).

When you do DPP you still have to have coverage on the bench you’re transferring to otherwise its defeating the purpose. I don’t see the value in having a DPP that’s not playing and hoping that your bench balance/selection decisions/injuries/lack of trades left will enable you to have on field coverage.
My strategy has been to trade in a DPP premium at each line for either short term injury/”rest” periods as well as having good bench coverage at D8/M7/F8.

The way l look at it is Deano, you only have bench coverage for 1 player in 3 of your 4 positions in your team. So 5 of your players are non-scoring, even if they get a game during that round, their score isn’t going to count (unless you have a cash-cow,then that’s a different story). Currently 1 have DPP’s in each of my positions ( expect for my rucks) so i can interchange players for the expected bench coverage for that given week.

Hams is rookie listed so it’ll be worth your while trading him for Shephard from WC, who looks like he’ll play most games and could be an option for a nice upgrade come finals time.
Rohan is a good option for your mids bench for the same reason.

Was Jordie McKenzie dropped for poor form? He didn’t get a ‘rested’ near his name? Yet another trade I will be forced to burn up next week :-( . Leaves me with no cover in the mids.
