How are you defining success this week? And what’s your score so far?

    1. Probably a few too many sherbs tonight Motts – rd 12 was last week? Still living in the past like most Blues fans!

      1. Remember this one Deano,
        Paul
2708 this week with hille and brown giving me 0’s, imagine if they had of played. Swanny, Podsi, Goddard, Hodge Malceski, NDS, Rioli and Jacky Riewoldt’s 216 BLOODY LEGEND

      2. No taking responsibility for the “typo” hey? Just a sly correction to the heading leaving readers wondering what substance my post is based on?

        1. Sorry mate, changed it when I saw the error and left myself in the editing screen rather than reading the comments.

Just assessing the carnage in the leagues I’m in – more than a few people will be very happy they’ve got a second chance at a captain next week.

          1. This has nothing to do with chess, Pakistan or backpacks but on the back of TWR’s story today I’ve been inspired to regale you with a sporting tale of my own.

Vitas Gerulaitis had a streak where he lost to Bjorn Borg something like 43 times in a row on the tennis pro circuit. The next time he played him he actually managed to get a win. A reporter asked him how it felt to finally beat Borg and he lowered his voice and said “let me tell you something: NO ONE beats Vitas Gerulaitis 44 times straight!”

          2. Gold – if only Leyton knew that story after finally triumphing over Rog last week for the first time since 2003 (9 consecutive losses I think), he might have been able to connect with the Aussie sporting public on a more plausable level.
Its a pity that those candid, real, humble responses are a thing of the past – just ask Dipper and Browny.

  3. Gotta be stoked by Cyril’s massive 3 points during the last quarter. This is an example of the joke the scoring system has become. Not expecting great things but he deserved at least 12 pts conservatively.

Note how the HS is now deleting the previous quarters’ scores when posting the new ones.

      1. After the job he did for me last week I couldn’t NOT give it to him again. But I may still take Cooney’s score.

      2. You can still change your ‘C’ can’t you Duck? You may want to go left-field if things are looking shaky after this week’s games. Motts may find himself in an awkward position (not the first time, I dare say) if Cooney scores 90-120. Hang in there, Duck.

  4. Superfooty.com vs SuperCoach.com

Buddy 158 (SF) vs 159 (SC)
Skipper 91 (SF) vs 87 (SC)

    Why are the scores different??

Most happy that i can reassess the Hodge captaincy decision and place Gods or GAJ captain next week.

I will define success as +2400 (coz that’s what i’ll need to win my league game)

    1. If you captained Hodge you’re screwed. You needed to VICE captain him if you wanted the option of taking his score or not.

      1. To be fair, I have been very pleased with Judd’s numbers this year, he has contributed a lot to my team since I grabbed him before Collingwood defeated Carlton earlier this year, but, given he is not the son of God, he can’t be J.C.

  7. 67/1/GAJ. My opponent this week scored 33 less than me last week, including my loss of Brown (he hasn’t got him) so I was a bit worried this week (kept Brown played Gumbles 🙁 ). Logged on to see he made Hodge captain this week instead of GAJ. Made me very happy! 🙂 On the downside I had a lazy 50 each way last week on Hodge for the Brownlow. 🙁

        1. Barlow mmmmm………….rythms with Brownlow?
Would reckon he’d have the Freo count covered now after tonight.
Even when he gets the hard tag by the best in the business (Ling/Jones) he scores mid 50s and 80s in his 3rd and 4th AFL matches. There’s no way he can win but there should (and I’m sure will be) investigations at every club as to how this bloke was not picked up earlier. He is different to any other successful mature age rookie draftee – think Broughton, Taylor, Anthony (althought the latter is almost comparable on stats) in that he has come in and been instantly ELITE and a match winner in a developing team.

          1. You’d think Essendon will be kicking themselves given that Barlow spent time @ Windy Hill in the off-season and they didn’t take him.
That said, there were knocks on Barlow’s game which he has ironed out after being drafted by Freo. He wasn’t the stand out player in the VFL last season.

        1. You won’t be finding me publishing my average any time soon. Having a shite year (only myself to blame) and will save most of my 6 trades left till the finals. If it wasn’t for this site, I’d be putting most of my time and energy into DT.

The fixturing of the split rd is almost as bad as the knee jerk reaction the Andrew/Adrian Circus has served up in relation the the Joey Johns League debacle last week.
    – no Sat arvo game this week but concurrent night games so you can’t watch both live;
    – no games in Vic next weekend (and I live in WA.)
Demetriou’s statement as to the “stupid comments at those stupid sportsmen’s nights” only highlights his self serving insulation in the AFL Ivory Tower and lack of connection with real life community footy clubs and associations who rely on these fundraising events to survive as they do not have a $1.7M salary to call on. Its curious how all of a sudden these events are “stupid” when it is playing contemporaries of our unelected leader who have been earning a livelihood from them for the past 25 years under his nose!
In no way am i condoning vilification of any kind however each individual situation needs to be assessed in context and on merit.
Am excited about the Socceroos’ chances tonight as there’s no way I can end up as low as last Mon am.

I look to have Duck covered which is very satisfying but some of the performances on the weekend have left a lot to be desired. Hodge and Pavlich weren’t good but Adam Cooney’s 56 takes the cake. And especially after I VC’d him expecting a big one. Yes, he wore Scott Selwood all day but other players get tagged and still manage more than that!

      Still to come
Paul (Malceski,. H.Shaw, Swan, Montagna, Hayes, Chapman) Vs
Motts (J.Hunt, Kennelly, Selwood, Gysberts, Goodes)

Mott i with the quality i have to come compared to you i think your underfeated run will come to a end this round

      1. Not sure I’d say you have me “covered”, Paul, but I admit a 30 point lead with an extra player scoring is looking shaky. Funny things can happen in footy, though, and at the end of the day, if I do lose, its been a hell of a 9 week opening to the season.

Is there anyone else out there not playing in a nuffy league that is still undefeated?

          1. I just happen to play you PA when you had your best round of 2500 and i only just lost by like 15 points

  18. 1165/12/Goddard

    1. Nice work – I wimped out last minute in getting him and went with Goodes instead! My other option was B Harvey. Both Harvey and Buddy scored 150+ – not looking good for my choice!

        1. I also brought in Goodes this week but have had uddy since Round 3. This is the first time ive given him the captaincy however, and with the added expectancy of beating Godard and GAJ’s scores, he didnt fail to impress.

    1. 4 kicks=16 points,5 handballs = 10 points, 1 mark=6 points, 4 tackles = 16 points and 1 free kick = 4 points for a total of 52 points? Have I done me sums wrong? Or have I missed something here? Hardball gets not counted or something like that?

      0

      1. the points are weighted as effective and innefective, whether theryre short or long kicks, to a contest, contested and uncontested possies and stuff like that. Unless you can get the full 56 scoring ways, it’s impossible to calculate- leave it to the pros haha

  18. 1165/12/Goddard

Was planning an upgrade of Trengove into Pendles to boost my score but i may rethink this strategy and opt to save some cash for a Kreuz into Sandi. Gotta think it through a bit more during the week.

  20. 1097/10/Goddard
Not bad but chasing my opponent who is sitting on 1410/12/GAJ!
Shattered about Krooz and the lacklustre first half Blues.

  21. 1083/10/GAJ.

Not too plussed – neither up nor down.

But very happy Rockliff is still performing.
