My team: 373/3/will cop 3 zeros. Decided to take a gamble with trades this week.
Steven Morris became Sam Shaw
Finally gave up on Aaron Hall, he became Arryn Siposs
Dustin Martin became Matthew Priddis
Cash on hand $218k – 11 trades left

SCTTL: also 373/3/zero zeros to come
Trades this week:
A. Kennedy to Sam Gibson
Steven Morris to Sam Shaw
James Magner to Matthew Priddis
Cash on hand: $309, 200 – 9 trades left

Consisdering next week upgrading Mohr, downgrading Porplezia to Crozier, upgrading Milera to Sidebottom. I’d be pretty happy with my team then, but would only leave me with 6 trades, it would read:

Deledio, Goddard, Scotland, Shaw, Clarke, Fisher, Bugg
(Ellis, Sam Shaw)

Ablett, Pendlebury, Priddis, Selwood, Hayes, Shiel
(Sam Gibson, Devon Smith)

Cox, Maric
(Redden, A.Phillips)

Franklin, Nick Riewoldt, Pavlich, Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Saad, Zorko
(Crozier, A. Hall)

Got probably 5 out of my top 7 captain choices out this week, and 8′of my best premiums out, so thinking of going all or nothing, not putting the ‘C’ on GAJ or Buddy and picking a POD captain…

Thumbs up- Deledio (vs GWS)
Thumbs down- Dangerfield (vs Saints)

After FURL’s success in tagging Lids last week i suspect GWS will do the same.

Heard Scotty Watters on 5AA radio tonight & although when asked if Jones will be going to either S.Thompson, Danger or Sloane, he would not reveal which one, however i had a feeling that he has plans for Danger.

Put the C on GAJ as he will be an angry man & could score big for you.

365/2/Cox
I’m considering Cox’s 132 as captain material.

Andrew Carrazzo is looking good for an upgrade after Rd13, although I would’ve liked a lower score to get that price around $400k.

In other news, Yarran (30) will be the price of a rookie soon enough, and a great proposition for next season.

I made the mistake of trading him in this week :/ his break even was 70, thought he would make it, named in forward pocket, and was a thing in the paper today saying about how Carlton’s small forwards have a great record playing at subi and combing for something like 30 of there last 70 goals at subi, so thought why not? Now I know why not :/ took the risk thinking it may pay off, as you can see it obviously didn’t :/ Hopefully might over the next few weeks but doubt it.

Valiant effort from your boys Mottsy. Some amazing decisions from Ratts to leave out Hampson (you need those talls at Subi) and keeping Robbo as a permanent forward instead of running him through the mids to help Juddy.

Some extended circle work from our guys in the first half topping off the bye week then the umpires tried their best to even up the game in Q3 before class prevailed in the end.

I think I’m going to use the loophole for the first time. There’s a pretty fair chance GAJ will go bigger than Mr. 20 from the Gold and Blue though, so I’m a little unsure. 132 is still pretty good though, isn’t it?! (yes, yes, it’s no NicNat)

Anyone else thinking about using Cox’s good game tonight-
If you did VC him, let us know if you’re keeping his score

Wait till he’s on the bubble, didn’t play very well in NAB cup and he plays similar to a lot of other players in the Kangas side. We remember what happened to Richardson last year and Scott isn’t very rookie friendly. Too much risk getting him in before seeing him in an AFL game you might end up wasting three trades with: in Didak (injured), in Gibson (who only plays 1-2 games maybe), in another rookie.

Plus Gibson will probably be sub so ul save a donut for like 20 points.

Something NQR about Juddy this year. Obviously the lack of support doesn’t help but this time last year he was carrying the Blues through pack after pack almost every week. Think I’ll stick with top of the pops for the midfield and take a punt in the backline or rucks.

477/4/Gaj or 610/4/priddis traded in Nic Nat for Giles at the last minute, so happy about that , wish I had of made him captain but there was so much talk on here on how consistent he was with his scoring (as in always scores nears his ave.) Hopefully just having the one doughnut this week but I hold mi confidence on redden playing. 131 for Priddis score is right on Gaj ave so I will probably take that.

I noticed in the Sun today that in their Top 5 players for the match that Carrots and Scotto came in 4th and 5th. Not bad for 2 blokes who were questionable going in. The bloke who shits me tho is Joseph. I swear he’s got some photos of Ratts in a compromising position. What the hell was that chip across the ground that got intercepted and resulted in a goal?!? My dead grandmother (RIP Ethel) could have told him you always head down the line from that position!!

I second that. Was planning a backline upgrade a little further down the track but I also have Pendles in my sights. Having to wait a bit longer for him could be the perfect opportunity to pick up Carrots. Wouldn’t have a bar of him in previous years, or the start of this year for that matter, but he has definitely taken another step and will look very juicy after RD14 at about 430k. Although Fisher could be even cheaper??

Welcome back Scotland!! Unfortunately Reversed the Horse >> Priddis trade, only to run out of time to trade somelese for the mop. Currently sitting on 2 donuts. I’ll get canned for this, but seriously considering going Morris >> Mr Drummond for $90k. Obviously has health concerns, however his scoring has been pretty good this year. In 7 games, apart from one subbed out 30, and a 64 against the GWS (not sure if he got subbed out), the rest of his scores have been pretty consistent between 83 and 119. Saves a donut, and could become a handy D6/7 POD. As long as he stays on the park.

If your wife’s team is close to top 1000 dazz then maybe consider Cotchin or Maric to stand out and maybe gain some more points the leaders who most will pick GAJ, but if you think it’s to risky and play it safe with GAJ, he is the most reliable but as we all discovered last week it’s not a guaranteed 130+

Last nights game got me thinking, and thought I might do a quick poll on this, who do you think got the better deal now in the ‘Judd Trade’? Eagles got Kennedy and Masten, Carlton got Judd and Armfield. But it think we should bring Kreuzer and Nic Nat into this equation my reasons being, eagles wanted the number 1 pick but got 3 instead (Masten) if they had number one they would have most likely got Kreuzer, which makes me think the following year they would have been unlikely to draft Nic Nat due to already having Cox and Kreuzer. So who do you think got a better trio in the end?

Hahaha yes Deano I think he does, gotta admit though when the trade first happened I was pretty disappointed we lost a brownlow medalist, and missed out on the chance to get the next up and coming ruckman and in return we got some no name forward and a midfielder that did nothing….

But a few years later Kennedy has really turned into that big key forward we needed and goes very well with Lynch, Darling and the rest of our forwards. Masten took a bit of time but has now developed into a good midfielder to go with a group of other young kids like Selwood, Gaff, Shuey, etc and then there is Nic Nat, I think that is self explanatory, the scary thing is how good he already is, and the amount of potential he still has

The only guys who have got the vest in the 22 that will be playing tomorrow prior to this weekend are Levi Greenwood and Kieran Harper (twice). You’d have to say Gibson or Harper would be the favourite for the vest, but I’m tossing up whether to trade Didak for Gibbo this week, so I hope he doesn’t.

Who makes way for S. Shaw (113k, 74 avg, -77 BE)? 9 trades left.

Options are…
- Lake (425k, 81 avg, 137 BE, current D5)
- Hargrave (355k, 74 avg, 119 BE, D6)
- Ellis (230k, 51 avg, 26 BE, D7)
- Smedts (172k, 38 avg, 32 BE, D8)
- Boumann (113k, 24 avg, 22 BE, D9, hasn’t had a run in weeks)
- no-one, because I need all the trades I have (DEF 4 prems, 2 mids, 3 rooks; MID 6P+2R, RUC 1P+3R, FWD 3P+2M+4R, so I figure I can live on 6 trades before LTIs).

If Lake or Hargrave go now, I’d want another DEF trade later on to bring in a fifth premium. If any of the others go, I can probably live with Lake and Hargrave at D5 and D6 and save another trade for injury.

Lake, Hargrave and Ellis all have good JS. Smedts may get another run and I would be surprised to see much more of Bouman again this season. Looks like you have no defensive bench which is a worry. People seem to think Shaw has good JS so given this I would let Bouman go.

Alternatively consider saving this trade and try to swing Smedts into the forward line.

Quick poll though, wanted to get rid of Giles.

Thumbs up for mcevoy…..

Depends on how many trades you have left. If I had a lot of trades, Giles would my last upgrade considering his average of 94 will be better than anyone else you need to upgrade. Also I heard his calf is only a one week thing. But if you must Goldy is a bargain at his price, low BE and playing the hapless Gold Coast this week.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

I wouldn’t trade in Mcevoy just yet, never to sure about trading in injured plays straight away, wait until they have at least played a few games as we saw with Didak last week injuries can come back, Consider goldy who is playing great as the number 1 ruck with no Hmac, but not sure how his scores will be when he comes back. Or take the donut this week and upgrade to someone like Nic Nat next week who is consistent or another higher valued premium if you have the cash. Or keep Giles for now as I hear it may be a one week thing. Personally I’d keep him, and wait till next week and look at nic Nat or another premium

I’d take priddis’ score if I was you, You already have a guaranteed 135 as your captain score, sure GAJ might get 150 but i think you’d feel better missing out on some points that way, then if GAJ only scored 115 and you had the chance to get the extra guaranteed points from priddis, not sure if what I just typed made much sense but I hope it did haha :)

Great finish to the game, but as you say GG, far to many easy misses from 10 metres cost us. Milney was the worst culprit, but yep, Roo & Kozi also had shockers. Crows missed a few easy ones as well mind.

Shame he did not have Nic Nat in the team (with VC), however got to think he could be a chance for the $1000 as some good POD’s.

A great round 12 team, he should do well this round while most of us have 3-6 donuts, only question is how did he go last week and how will he go next week with so many players out? from a quick look over I counted roughly 14 players not available for him next week? but if he scored around 1600 last week, scores 2100+ this week and maybe 1300 next week his tactic overall for the bye rounds could pay off.

and like Andy B said the number of PODs could give him a real shot at being up in the rankings this round, saw a team a few rounds ago that was full of PODs that most wouldn’t have picked, but with a bit of luck they all played extremely well and scored high on the same round and he got 3rd for the round

I think this team is purely aimed at winning Round 12 benno. I’d say he would’ve made the team at the start of the year preparing the lineup to solely win this round and take home the $1000 cash. Mind you, it is a far better looking team than mine at the moment so I’d say his overall ranking would be fairly good.

Just the one Donut (Sexton). Late inclusion?? Deano is giving me a run for my money in the LOEC1. Its:

Me: iMullet, Mohr, Drummond, Ruffhead, Birchall, Bradbert, Boyd
vs
Deano: Ellis, Devon, Zorko, Sizzle, Lake +206

Should be close.

1201/12 + 2 donuts/NicNat (vc)

Be freakin’ stocked if I could manage 2000. Up against Motts in our LoEC league and looking like it’s going to be a close one. I’ve got one extra donut but was hoping NicNat’s day out could cover that.

Comes down to Lake + 194 for Motts VS Horsley, Zorko & Roughie.

What do you guys reckon?

Thumbs up – Motts too strong and holds on.
Thumbs down – Fish brings it home with a huge last quarter and runs over the top.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 4 Thumb down 5

Reply

Fishtopher June 16, 2012 at 6:47 pm

So the thumbs have gone my way early at 3-2. Sexton in for Motts could be a clincher unfortunately. Even a sub effected 20 could get him across the line.

Can someone just confirm, when Sexton comes in for Chappy (C) the captaincy goes to VC not Sexton yeah?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

benno June 16, 2012 at 6:58 pm

it should go to your VC fish, that’s the point of the VC is if your captain is a late widthdrawl you get your VC’s score, so I’m 99% sure you will get your VC and not sexton as your captain score.

I don’t have Treloar but when I saw this it made me think of Devon Smith, lots of people, including me traded him out when he had his high breakeven, once that went out of his system he has now gone on to make another $100K

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Except Devon was priced at around $220-230k and had way more upside for risk. Treloar at around $340k is not going to get you much more. Another $50k at best? Not worth the risk of him spudding it up imo.

Tried to add this to my last comment but didnt save: I don’t think treloar can make that much more maybe 40K tops? But you would need to wait a few weeks to get his score out of his system, if you think it’s worth waiting for that extra bit of cash, keep him, otherwise trade him out now, downgrade to a rookie like Gibson or Crozier is what I would do

Good stuff MJ. Glad that Boomer Harvey score came up for you MJ as you were not sure after you traded him in. The only other site i look at was all over Boomer this week, however his low range when tagged & his age – 34, put me off.
Good article this morning on afl.com.au saying that teams stopping North tag / limit both Wells & Boomer – and although GC stopped Wells, Boomer got away. I am personally staying away from Boomer as yesterday will re-enforce him getting tagged every other week, however i suspect lots will be jumping on him a week to late. Boomer will be a good POD, however Goodes, Danger or Beams etc when they bottom out for me.

Zorko’s average for the last three is 95 so if he gets that with 120 from RoughNut then Lake needs to be under 76. Considering Lake has scored less than 90 in 5 out of 9 games I don’t think I am without a shot.

Tough slog in the 1st half but we always had control in my opinion, the big boys come out to play in the 2nd 1/2 though Fish. Silk Burgoyne had it on a string most of the game, Cyril was just his normal majestic self, Buddy although he was held well by Goose in the 1st half he killed it in the 2nd 1/2, Roughie looked solid all day, Mitchell just soldered on like the champ that he is & all the boys down back had a much much better 2nd half to stick fat when it counted.

Overall there frikken kicking at goal was average again but with the conditions I’m happy to overlook that this week with the 10 goal win & 4 premiership points.

A few times this season, i have questioned players end scores, ( just quietly to myself ). But now maybe it’s time to vent! How did Maric score 140+? I watched the whole game closely, and as much as he has improved this season and been fantastic, there is no way he outscored Deledio or Cotchin!!! Throw in a D.Martin 98, and i’m stumped. He was hardly sighted!!!

Does any agree? Or am i preaching? I have Martin and Deledio, so will take their scores. But how does this happen? I am sure with my inexperience of AFL and Supercoach that there is someone out there who will understand my slight frustration?

By the way, my vent started when Pavlich scored 140+ against GC, and he didn’t do much in my eyes. Then kicks 6 goals against Richmond last week and scores 90+. Go figure.

And while i’m still here, why can’t supercoach have live scores tracking like Dreamteam? Fanfootys scores just change all the time with supercoach.

Having said all this, i’m enjoying my virgin season in supercoach and AFL.

Rant over, hope i haven’t offended any supercoaches vs dreamteam.

Pav’s scores v GC & Richmond certainly appear strange on the surface. However GC score was greatly inflated due to him stepping up & also kicking a crucial goal in the last qtr when the game was in the balance. I watched the last two qtrs of that game & thought he would be lucky to get a ton (even with the late goal & more tackles etc near the end).
From what i read on here, although he kicked 6 goals i am sure Pav’s efficiency was something around 53% for the Richmond game which would have hurt him. I was also surprised, but still reasonable happy with his points on the day.
I personally think, don’t get wound up with what you cannot control & the GC & Richmond games show that there are swings & roundabouts with things averaging themselves out. As long as players are not docked points for subjective things like having a mullet, dodgy mo etc, that is good enough for me.

In terms of live supercoach scores, although PA mentioned that foxsports??website (refer back a couple of weeks) provide updated scores, HS are slowly ensuring they have a monopoly on providing this service. So unless you pay HS money (via Digital Pass etc) it is hard to see the instant score change when GAJ racks up another possie. From a marketing point of view, you cannot blame HS for doing what they are doing – they are not a charity & print media losing money. HS have created a need for a service by building up 350,000 SC users who have a thirst for information & who would not normally pay for on-line access to let’s face it a very ordinary newspaper (they are not alone in the poor quality of Australia’s ‘generic & vanilla’ press, but let’s not get into that).

Still can’t help but think that there will be a mass exodus next year away from supercoach to dreamteam, honestly think that HS have lshot themselves in the foot , to think that there is 350,000+ entries in SC this year and the person that comes 2nd gets zip! Even if you paid 5 bucks per entry they would still have well over a million bucks to hand back in prizes next year and that’s not including any advertising space they get paid for.food for thought I would think

Virtual Sports have always maintained that the games will continue to be free. From the point of view of the Herald Sun, people playing their game for free, still ensures added traffic to the website and, with the advent in Australia of the pay wall, extra money.

I think the other thing that you have to understand is that, realistically, there are at most, a few thousand people who have a genuine chance of winning the game. Most of my mates could not care less about their overall ranking. They want a quick, easy-to-play game that allows them to win a league and/or head-to-head match-ups over each other. Their main prize? Bragging rights. It is the minority (such as myself) that go the other way, generally not caring about leagues, but striving for the overall win. If you started to charge money, even a nominal amount, their would be a mass exodus of people away from SuperCoach and to free fantasy football games, that still give them the opportunity to beat their mates.

good reply AndyB.

I agree with the mass exodus happening. This is the first time i have been in supercoach, and coming to Australia and not knowing a great deal about footy, my mates got me onto fantasy football.
But none of them have ever played supercoach, been Dreamteamers since day one. They told me to stay away form supercoach, but i enjoy it and they take it a lot more seriously than i do.
They have said that the point scoring system is not as good and too many players get inflated scores, as i stated above.
Now i did rant, but im not complaining or giving up. Its just a fun free game to pass the time, and i find myself watching the footy a lot. But if my mates have said this, and they are in the know, how many more people will feel this way? Anyway, its all good with me, and Aussie rules is a cracking game!!!

Anyone watch the GWS vs Richmond game and notice how little Maric did to get 146 SC points? It is a joke, nothing that he did influenced the match THAT much, he didn’t get THAT many possessions. These are his stats:

- 16 disposals, 12 kicks and 4 handballs (10 contested possessions)
- Disp. Efficiency … 56%
- 4 marks, 1 constested
- 6 tackles
- 0 Clearances
- 2 Frees For, 1 Free Against
- 5 Inside 50′s, 1 Rebound 50
- 0 Goals, 0 Behinds, 0 Goal Assists
- 146 SC points

Now compare this to Deledio:

- 30 disposals, 19 kicks and 11 handballs (18 contested possessions)
- Disp. Efficiency … 60%
- 3 marks, 0 constested
- 2 tackles
- 6 Clearances
- 3 Frees For, 0 Free Against
- 4 Inside 50′s, 3 Rebound 50
- 1 Goals, 1 Behinds, 0 Goal Assists
- 132 SC points

Deledio was clearly the better player (on paper, AND when watching the game). He influenced the game much more, and I can’t see where the big IVAN is getting his points from compared to Lids. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Mulletman, but I hate it when these things happen!

Don, a critical point / stat missed in your argument is Hit Outs:-
Maric 34 and Lids 2 (surprising he had any).
Don’t disagree that Lids was more effective & had more of an influence on the Tigers winning the game. However, if you have a ruckman who not only picks up decent hit out quantities (i.e. 34) which is their bread & butter + are more than serviceable around the ground they will score big (i.e. Nic Nat, Jacobs & Maric). Not saying it is fair on the Maric v Lids influence issue, but just the way it is.

Also hit outs to advantage. Watching the game I reckon a lot his HO were to advantage and had score involvements. Gold for SC. also the wet conditions meant there were less disposals which the HObeven more valuable.

I was watching Goldy last night in the Suns/Roos game cos I brought him in for Turftoe. I thought he would of got at least 120+ then I see he’d just manged an even ton, robbed.
I can’t defend the SC scoring anymore and with not knowing “live scores” without having to pay for it means I’ll only be playing DT next year and onwards. I’m over the scoring inconsistency and the HS “Greedwall” is the icing on the cake.

Dont forget it depends on the score of the game.

Say deledio got all his touches when Richmond were up by 3 goals and Maric got all his when it was only 1 goal he will get more points.

Same with clangers, if you turn it over when the game is close you lose more points. Still think Deledio was more important.

What should we do with Adam Treloar?

Up until Round 10 he played 7 games with an average of 81, a low score of 53 and a peak of 115, with a consistency rating of 20.9. He had risen $ 243 100 in value. His 5 and 3 round averages were 84.2 and 90.7.

Then he pops out with 7 in Round 12. Is this a blip, and can we afford to keep him?

Priced at around 350k, you’ve got to think Treloar has about reached his price ceiling. If he plays and returns to averaging in the high nineties, you might make an extra 50k or so, once his terrible round 12 blight has been washed out of the system. But of course, you’ve got to ask yourself – is it worth risking a potential massive price drop?

If you’ve got the trades, seriously consider getting rid of him.

But if you’ve got only a meagre portion of spare cash, a premium is out of reach for a straight swap.

So, unless you want to downgrade, here are your straight swap options.

All under 400k as of end of Round 11.
FORWARDS:

Fallen Semi-Guns:
Brent Harvey (North Melbourne)
Played well v Gold Coast last round, and averaged over 100 points in 2010 and 2011. Average has dropped to 84 and price has fallen over 150k. Old, cranky body, a proven champion on his way out. Do you trust his cranking bones to revive his SuperCoach scoring in the second half of 2012? If you do, put your trades where your thoughts are and bring him.

Travis Cloke (Collingwood)
Capable of some pretty stinking score, Travis has been plagued by rumours dealing with his future and that may have been cause of some pretty rotten Supercoach score. Two tons in his last two games – albeit against Melbourne and the Gold Coast – boasting a whopping one win between them in 2012 – makes you wonder, is he on the up, or just feasting on some fattening deserts before dieting on the main course once more. Big risk, possible big reward. Averages 88, can improve – but might give you some shockers and some sweet victories along the way.

I would advise against doing a straight swap for a midpricer (unless you have a reason to do so) – either downgrade or upgrade.

Midfielders:

So you’ve got Treloar sitting in the mids. What delights can we find in the middle to replace him?

Brock Mclean(Carlton): HAS THE BYE IN ROUND 13!
Almost a straight swap, Brocky is on the bubble, provides bang for your buck with a 3 round average of 103.3. With Carrots back, will Carlton experience a rennaissance; will Brocky continue his scoring his SuperCoach Scores?

We wonder, we wonder….

Defenders:

Matt Suckling (Hawthorn)
A pretty good defender in 2011, averaging 90, his average has dropped to 86 in 2012. Priced under 400k, so a possible pickup if you can afford him.

Sean Dempster (St Kilda)

Has increased his PPG by 20 points this year, averaging 85 points and has scored 3 tons. Only owned by 3% of all teams, so might be a god POD for you.

Anyway, hope I’ve helped you consider your options with Treloar. I didn’t put any Rucks in because there is nothing worth picking up under 400k; but if you have a 100k kitty, there are plenty of goodies. May I suggest Jonathon Griffin of the Dockers.
