Who to trade…Who not to…

The decision if i should wait and do nothing this week…and face the risk of another loss.

He has gone down in price.
Get rid of big injured BROWN and bring him in.
What do you reckon?

Getting rid of Naitanui will be at the top of mine. That and what to do about JB. Facing Duck in my primary league this week so whatever I do I won’t be broadcasting it on here.

JB and Maguire in my thoughts … points is the aim of my game, sitting 3rd and 200 behind our leader – low on trades, so’s the leader but her team’s real nice. but it’s still only half way in the season..
want to trade Carzz + Maguire for Swan – but that leaves B Sheppard on the ground down back for another few weeks.
The sensible thing is Maguire + Sheppard = Enright
Have Rockliff to cover for JB so will sit tight there.. already have Pav, and happy elsewhere up fwd) ..
The other sensible thing is to do nothing ..

I think it’s time to hold off and save the trades. Hopefully the bench can cover Higgins and Dids for the next couple of weeks.

Does anyone know how long Didak is out for??

I’m thinking of a straight swap trading dustin martin for Boomer Harvey, but then Boomer will be sitting on the bench? Is he to good to have as a back-up?

Yes, there must be other areas of your team you can look at.

Your right, that would be a waste of a trade considering I only have 5 left. Is tempting though!

What is the go with this week; Is it a ten day lockout, or a partial lockout?

My guess is a partial lockout but we will have to wait and see.

Guess!!! We have the right to know if it is a partial or full but even if it is a partial it wont help, eg. Trade out Brown to Chapman, you dont even know if chapman will play.

Didn’t we have a partial lockout near the start of the year? I am pretty sure that they said at the start of the year that this round would be a partial lockout as well.

It’s too early to think about trading, yet it’s already Tuesday. Without the benefit of research, I reckon I’ll be keeping Didak & Gia.

I’m thinking about holding Gia till Higgins comes back.

I have J Brown, Higgins and Didak in my forward line. Not happy with the donut. There needs to be something in place to prevent this. No AFL team would ever go in one short. Dids and Brown both pull out after lockout so there is no way to prevent it. This needs to be looked at.

Yes there is you have emergencies on your bench for a reason… in case of a late withdrawl, sure they might not be the same calibre as a J Brown or Dids but do you think Bris and Coll replaced them with a a player of similar standard.
It is our job to ensure that we have coverage in case this happens… Brown Dog has been dodgy for weeks so it was no surprise to see him miss, Higgins wasn’t named so was always going to miss and Didak is just plain unlucky and you have to roll with those punches.
There will be a week when you get the benefit of your opponent having a donut (hopefully).

Yes and both of my emergencies were used. But if an AFL side has 3 injuries they have replacements for all players. In Super Coach however you are only allowed 2. Its not very realistic. I still say it needs to be looked at.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Maverick June 15, 2010 at 11:47 am

That’s 3 emergencies across the whole ground for an AFL side. Supercoach has 8 emergencies across the whole ground. I think it’s not a bad system, but i like the idea of having a supplementery rookie list. If you get an LTI you could promote a rookie. The rookie list would have a seperate salary cap and you can only have 4 one for each area of the ground.

Possibile trade out Brown – Chapman & Nic Nat – someone better.

Dont have $$$ to do both & will Brown come back & play like the first 5 rounds?

Haven’t got many trades left under my sleeve but NicNat is worrying me, watching him play on the weekend he looked like a lost child in a shopping center trying to find they mum, he doesn’t have a clue on where to position himself. As for browndawng I think it depends on your current bench coverage, if you can cover for him and not cope a duck egg then hold onto him like I’m going to do, but if you don’t then get rid of him, the same applies to Goose.

PA

Most of the Eagles guys looked like that on the weekend because that’s what happens when players doubt their team mates’ ability to hit a target therefore hedge defensively for the turnover and are often caught in “no man’s land” with the game “happenning” around you. If you watch Coxy he was also caught out positionally several times but no one is comparing him with K Hunt.
Nic Nat was never going to return consistent SC scoring in his second year – it took Cox and Sandi 5+ years to get to that stage – but he will give you the odd 100+ along with the 40s.

True Deano, but it’s getting near the “pointy end”, this is when we look at getting rid of the deadwood, as for NicNat my main concern with him is that Woosha might rest him for a while because of they current ladder position and his form.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Reply

Deano June 15, 2010 at 5:14 pm

IMO his only rest will be next weekend in the split rd as we have no other ruckman and Woosh will be loathe to put Coxy under that stress given his groin issues.
As a matter of principle, Woosh has shown that he doesn’t “rest” players for the sake of it unless injured as this conflicts with his “pride in performance” mantra (eg: end of last year)
His future tenure with the club will also hinge on his ability to get the players finishing the season well.

if you have some cash trade nicnat for kepler bradley.. keplers price will rise up alot cause of his average.. its over 100 and that means in finals you can do a direct trade to cox.

There you go PA – a readymade solution to your NicNat problem. You might even be able to direct trade Kepler to Sandi for the finals if you haven’t got him.

For starters I don’t have the cash and many trades left to do this. Secondly I wouldn’t bring Vessels into my side cos he is a idiotic numbnut DoucheBag.

Providing that KP maintains the sort of average that allows you to make a direct swap to Cox.
But in that case you are making a sideways trade and if KP can maintain a similar score to what Cox is getting then why bother making the second trade?

Agree with PA…KP is a dodgy recruit @ best and @ worst a lazy “idiotic numbnut DoucheBag”.

For those of you who have had Natanui from the start, what’s your take on him? Are you satisfied with his output or were you expecting more from a 2nd year, 2nd ruckman?

Cam- formerly known as Cameron June 15, 2010 at 1:16 pm

i’ve had him from the start, hoping he would go up in price to upgrade him, but ive been pretty dsappointed. now, i knoe its only his second year, but i must admit i was expecting a bit more from him. Ive had tippett and nic nat from the start, so its been very low scoring and inconsistent lol. im gonna keep him tho, too cheap to waste a trade on, but next year i will get 2 premium rucks from the start, and play an extra rookie to cover it…

all in all, hes been very inconsistent, but, im sticking with him, as i have done so with tippett.

Had NicNat from the start also, his avg 75ppg which isn’t too bad for a ruckman but as I’ve said above it might be time he had a break to recharge the batteries ( for how long?, that is the ?).

Remember he has also been played in a ruck rover type role to help cover the loss of Kerr, Selwood, Masten, Shuey, Swift. No excuse for the insipid performance last week but try taking Foley, Cotchin, Tuck, Martin, Cousins out of the Tigers midfield at once and see how they go?

Nic Nat is a jet and once he learns to balance his hard ball gets with positional awareness for link availability he will consistently score 100+. Hopefully for my SC it is during rds 19-22 this year!

I’m actually more concerned at my cognitive inability to render Cam’s original post effectively. Can HGL put this down to post sleep-deprivation-poor-sporting-result depression?
