Goodes finishing with 24 will bring his price wayyyyy down in a few weeks! Christenson getting 51 will drop him a little bit in coming weeks too!

The fact that it was in crunch time when the game was on the line gives him some extra i think but yeah i definitely agree that that is a little ridiculous

Ok 81 might be slightly overs and a few players at the top end of scoring were probably robbed of a few points, but that is exactly what makes SC better than DT. Points are a lot more weighted towards what a player does to actually influence a game rather than just stats.

so where does it say in the point scoring system, that a player can score a ridiculous amount of points because he can kick a possible match winning goal?

2 weeks ago, Green from the Lions kicked 3 in the last quarter as a sub. How many points did he score? not 81. And Polkinghorne kicked the long torp to win the game. How many points? not 81

rant over

Supercoach has 53 seperate scoring components plus scaling for influence whereas Dreamteam has the raw 6 and no scaling.
Eg: in DT a kick out on the full in the last minute of the last quarter will score 3 pts whereas in SC it will score about -11 points; a contested mark in def 50 is worth more in SC than an uncontested 15m mark on the flank whereas in DT they are scored the same; a smother to save a goal is scored between 5-10 points in SC but is worth nothing in DT.

If you don’t like it then just do DT.

Rant over.

He did Yiorgy, but it was from those four kicks. No marks. No tackles. Nothing else, so that 54 was still pretty good.

You don’t rate the Swans, Under?

We have improved, no doubt about it. We just have two problems:

1. Without Goodes (take out tonight, his first game back in 6-odd weeks so would naturally be rusty), our forward line struggles to kick goals. Reid is out of form and Walsh just isn’t up to AFL standards yet. But give them both time, the more game time they get the better they will become.
It has been our midfields that have been kicking out goals, with the likes of Jack, Kennedy, Jetta etc kicking handfuls of goals each week. This makes opposition midfielders more accountable, and takes some pressure off our young and developing forwards.

2. We clearly have a problem playing at the MCG. And you can’t win a Premiership without winning there. Since 2007, we have a 3-1-13 record at the MCG. I admit, this is a problem. However, who says that this can’t change with our new, more free-flowing style of football?

If, sorry, when we fix two areas, then YES, I believe we will be genuine contenders!

P.S. “One ‘big’ win”? Which one? The one against Hawthorn in Tassie? or Essendon in Melbourne? Or the reigning Premiers?

I’ll put them able to take it up to Hawthorn, Essendon and West Coast.

but I’d be worried if they face Adelaide or Collingwood.

A solid night without anything outstanding.

386/4/Swan

Chapman, Selwood, O’Keefe and Mumford all scoring between 93 – 101.
Couldn’t watch the game, but sounds like big Mummy’s back is giving him grief again. Still knocks out a 97.

Licking my lips at the thought of Dayne Zorko > Adam Goodes being a sideways trade dollar-wise in a few weeks and Alan Christensen being a value pick up next season.

Mummy looked in big trouble during the last quarter with his back in an innocuous ruck battle with West after being on 85 at three quarter time.

I was looking at him in a couple of weeks time when his price had depreciated but definately not now.

What is worse about these bye rounds is we might have 6 next year if the AFL go to two byes a team next year which it looks like it will. 9 donuts on ground this week.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Reply

jimbo June 23, 2012 at 1:14 pm

I don’t see why the AFL cannot just introduce two split rounds, that means only four weeks of the fixture there is less than the normal 9 games played instead of 6. And for us at least we have every team playing every week albeit we have two partial lockouts and every team gets there two breaks. It works out for broadcasting better as well as we all know Channel 7 are idiots and trying to navigate 6 bye rounds would be impossible for them.

I think also two subs would just ruin SC and the AFL, more injuries more resting, should have four bench, with one sub who only comes on if there is an injury and the teams have to name them.

Predictor got me back up by 64 now (thanks FURL, thanks Jobe, no thanks NicNat but you get a pass after last week) but I’m not confident. Thompson will have a day out against the Roos and one of Treloar or Smith could easily have a big day against the Dees.
