R22 Is Complete

Written by Duck on August 25 2013

That’s it, you’re either an elated coach with a GF to play next week, or you’re scratching your head wondering what went wrong and printing off your final team of this year so you can reference it early in 2014 … or am i the only one that does that?

Which one are you?

  2. 2505/GAJ (3rd week in a row Argh!)

Won my league but disappointed as I was a Cotchin and GAJ (and a few other slight letdowns) away from a huge score!

  3. 2651 / Gaz. Won two cash leagues that I was left in, can’t believe this is the sake team (except for R Murphy coming in with 81) that gave me 2101 last week…

2 trades left so set for the GF, better captain choice and may even have got close to the overall this week.

1/2 Prelims won, oh well at least in one grand final next week, just hope there aren’t any surprises come team selection day.

  5. 2551/joelwood. Got 5 shots at the flag next week. 1 trade and 200k left.
Was angry at myself all weekend for bringing in Mackie (and murphy) over Enright based on his last three weeks. Mackie cost me another 60 odd points this week but has a chance to become a hero next week.

  6. 2453/Pendles

All sorts of rookie mistakes were made on Friday arvo leaving the C on Pendles. But seeing as the Dirty Kelsos are celebrating their highest score of the season I’m calling that particular maneuver the ‘reverse loophole’.

You know….The one where you take your eye off the ball for a second and the supercoach gods decide that they’ll mess with you all weekend, shift the goalposts a few times, make a few key players in the oppostion pull out and smile upon your team again around Sunday afternoon when all hope is drained from your being.

Minson is first picked next season, Rocky not far behind him and I don’t think I’ll be leaving Joelwood out in round one either. Just hope Ablett, Pendles and Griffen are all collectively affordable while I’m at it!

Have been sulking since round 16 and now finally have something worth sharing!

  7. 2505/GAJ,

5/5 Grand Finals await Catta’s Clan next week, including an exciting final chapter GF v my nemesis Bearded Burblers in LoEC1. Special mention to MJ this round, although I beat him by 176 in our prelim, it’s a bit of a bitter sweet victory. MJ had no luck from the start of the round & ended up playing with only 21 with Walker’s late withdrawal. Thanks for the battle MJ & I look forward to playing against you again under better circumstances in 2014.

Koray…………….let’s get ready to RUMBLE 😉

  9. 2537 / Selwood

Won both match ups i am still in so 2 x GF’s including the nuffy GF v Stubbsy in our SCT organised cash league. Speaking of the cash league, the standard has not dropped a bit. The main GF will be between Banjo (2533 win over Max’s Hird of Me 2388) and Fishmiers (2492 x MJ’s Such is Life 2329). Congrats to Banjo & Fish for getting to the GF and between them cleaning up the majority of the cash.

  10. Needed to finish with 342 from Minson, Griffen and Mayes… looked long odds… figured the 150+ score needed to come from Griff… and BAM 154 from Big Bad Willy! combined score 344! ha ha… the universe is a beautiful place… Boo Yah!
Now into the ice baths boys… Mad Monday can wait!

Broke through to easily record my highest score of the year. Absolutely stoked. I made it through to four grand finals, including the LoEC2 grand final and my main cash league GF. Does winning LoEC2 mean automatic admission into LoEC1 for 2014. I vote it should be 😉

  12. 2260/Cotch

Another year, another finals disaster. The SC gods said “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!”. And I didn’t. Crashed out of all 3 prelims.

Finals this year were once again marred with in game injuries, suspensions, late outs and red vests. This week Kroozer and Walker’s late outs meant a donut and accepting JJK’s 60. In desperation took the C of GAJ with the chance of one of Rocklift, Dusty or Cotch going large. Of course I chose Cotch.

Ranking also took a tumble to 103. Once again I’ll make the usual hollow promise to keep enough trades for finals next year! 😉

Very happy with that score but unhappy with my last two recruits.

    Walker – Late withdrawal
    Murphy – Concussed

    Will they play next week?

Needed 177 in the last quarter between Griff(C), Minson and Rob Murphy and largely thanks to Minno I scored 179 and got up by 3 points! Thought I was gone for all money thanks to a zero caused by Walker and Cotchin being subbed out but the boys stepped up when it counted!

  15. Geelong play Lions at 2.10 Melb time. Port play Carlton at 4.40 Melb time. Question, will the first game be finished before the 2nd game starts? – even 10 minute gap would do.

  16. 2220 / 21 / Pendles

Not as big as some of the monster scores above. But considering I’ve watched about six quarters of footy all year, no trades left plus a permanent donut in the backline, I’m bloody happy that I made it through to two GFs. Have had alot of luck go my way, hope it continues one more week. Plus looking forward to SC Finals. Whoever came up with that idea……..legend!

Won 4 of my 5 Prelims so pretty happy. The loss came in LoEC3 though so mighty disappointed about that. Still alive in SCT4 and overall of 252.

  18. 2321/gaj with a donut in the backline and a rookie covering another backline premium who was out.. basically all of my points of difference fired this week.

It was enough to win the prelim this week but im not confident that it will win next week. Only time will tell – stranger things have happened!

  19. 2228/GAJ – 2/5 Prelim wins

The wheels fell off early with Beams late withdrawal while carrying the VC, then Ball being subbed at 1/2 time on 80 pts.
Vardy gets Kneed in the head 5 mins in, Walkers late withdrawal, Cotch and Lids score nothing in a 120 pt thrashing of GWS, Hanley does bugger all and Hibberd has his worst game of the year, GAJ is killing me with the C all finals and I would have stuck the VC on Joelwood if I’d known about Beams in time..

Lost the one I really wanted by less than 60 pts…Bragging rights were huge in that League! and less than 200pts in the others…Not a happy camper

  20. I am all out. Lost 4 finals this week.

One of them by 11 points. Had two bench players who could have won me that one instead. 🙁

Got burned real bad by late injuries and suspensions. Scott D Thompson and Hartlett were the final straw. Ended up stuck with too many forwards and not enough bench backs.

  21. Well not embarrassed to post my Disaster of the Finals.

In 4 Prelims lost the lot.

    1839 / Lids.

The carnage of the year eventually took its toll on my Team.

Clisby, Thurlow, Hartlett, Heppell, No Shows for my Back line.
    Mids Survived the Drama.
Nicholls, Kroozer, Gawn, no show for my rucks.
Walker, Lewis, Rowe, Sinclair no show for my forwards.

Even if I had trades up my sleeve the carnage I had this week I could never have covered.

Been a great year with the boys and the Group.

Goodluck to all you boys who made it through to the finals, hopefully learn from the mistakes of this year and put a better showing in the year 2014.
