R23 Captain Selection

Written by Duck on August 30 2013

The wrong choice here could be the difference between a premiership and losing, it’s a big decision. With the Pies and GCS playing with an overlap on Sunday the usual Pie to GAJ is out the window.

Sydney v Hawks Friday night opens up some options with plenty of big name guys going all out for a massive game, but do you risk it?

The Cats take on Brisbane on Saturday afternoon, anyone with Selwood or Stevie J would no doubt be leaning towards one of those?

I’m up in the air at the moment … what are you thinking? Playing a VC to C option – what is it?

  1. Normally Ablett against GWS would be a no-brainer but he’s only averaged 85 over the last three weeks. That is obviously far too low to take out a Grand Final and have bragging rights over your mates during the summer break. JPK has a good record against the Hawks, has been a headache for most coaches since Rd 14. The Hawks will probably win on Friday but will any of them go large with SC points? With Pendles/Swanny overlapping with the Bald Master, a decision needs to be made which could ultimately decide your GF. I’m betting on the Geelong boys to thump Brisbane down at Kardinia Park……may even take Stevie J over Selwood for VC. If they don’t score me 140+, I’m pretty sure Griffen will against the Dees……he is definitely my back-up.

  3. Captain, Vice, Captain, Vice….arggggggggg!

Here’s a few to ponder over, for those not sure of the stats!

JPK, over his last 4 home & away games v Hawks…143, 126, 173 & 124 ave 141.5, he loves playing against his old club, not including his 96 in the 2012 GF
Pendles, over his last 4 home & away games v North…160, 86, 160 & 162, ave 142, pretty healthy indeed & seems to thrive in games v the Kangers
Gazza, his only 3 games v GWS have gone 160, 126 & 125 ave 137, solid v the witches hats….this could be the 3 votes he needs for another charlie, so I expect him to go “HUGE” this time around
    Swanny, over his last 4 home & away games v North…136, 132, 152 & 127 ave 136.7 very consistent as usual & would be a solid choice
J Selwood, over his last 4 home & away games v Brisbane…135, 114, 78 & 175 ave 125.5 but has enjoyed some huge games at the Cattery in 2013..mmmm!
Stevie J, over his last 4 home & away games v Brisbane…120, 65, 69 & 67 ave 80.25, this surprised me but this could be the game he goes “BANG”

Good luck coaches…..as its a hard choice this week, but I may roll the dice on JPK (vc) into Gazza!

Subject to change Bearded Burblers 😉
