  1. Just got home from the game. Was impressed that we didn’t bend over which we’ve done in the last few final quarters. The Pies had their feathers ruffled tonight and that’s enough for me right now. Took the Pies -25.5 as the first leg of my multi so in a sick way I’m kinda satisfied.

A bit disappointing from 2 of my big guns, Pendles and Gibbs, but it’s a long way to go.

  3. 575 / 5 / Swan.
Bit unhappy with Swans score as captain, but I guess there are a bunch of people in the same boat. Same goes for Gibbs. Glad I threw Curnow the jersey at the last minute over Harris. This guy is a BALL MAGNET.

Had duigan and curnow on bench with Gibbs and Murphy on the field. Should have been the other way round! If only I could get my hands on docs delorean.

  5. That Port spread bet’s looking a bit shakey now Motts. The Pies were obviously out for a walk in the park tonight without getting out of second gear. Big kudos to Curnlow and Duigan though from a SC perspective. Unfortunately for the Blues they just don’t have enough strength and presence in the back half and firepower and consistency up front. Gibbs and Murphy were once again very disappointing when the heat was on.
The big challenge for your mob is clearly in Rd 14.

  6. 417/4/Swan. Warnock killed me. Happy with Duigan pushing up the $$$ (but warming the bench). Here’s hoping my other big guns can pull out some big numbers.

  7. 446/5/Godds
Happy that my unique in Juddy scored reasonably well, Curnlow on the bench franked his price increase and Diges had a real crack in Q3 to show he has the fortitude to get in amongst the weeds. Unhappy that MM didn’t give Krak some meaningful time in the midfield although obviously most contenders have him as well as Gibbs.
Stoked that the CD boys didn’t fall for Swanny’s last Q garbage possies which will hopefully make his price a nice upgrade target after the Rd 7 bye.
Time to make up some ground this round on the Swan permacaptain leaders.

  8. 507/5/Pendles – Not a happy camper at this stage.
Pendles didn’t do a great deal, Murphy and Gibbs did bugger all. Happy with Krakwhore, happy with Hacksaw Nick Duigan and VERY happy with the “Hacksaw Nick Duigan” reference. Can’t remember which one of you came up with that but it’s gold.

Murphy,Warnock were shocking but playing pies i’ll let it go.
Pendles, oh well my bad run of captains continues 🙁

As soon as I traded Curnow in instead of Libba before the game I had that sickening feeling I’d made a big mistake. But the kid was good and obviously uses it well. Swan did a Goddard and squeezed a ton out of an average performance. Judd did his best, Gibbs didn’t. Gonna regret having Duigan on the bench.

  12. Curnow was impressive, one of the best scorers on the ground again. I am wondering now if he is a cow or a keeper. Might be the 2011 Blair?

BTW not much score yet, only have Swan and Krak on field with Swan as captian.

  13. 483/4/Swan
Brought Curnow in but benched him over Libba and Harris. I’m expecting similar scores from them anyway. Fairly happy with the score, but annoyed at my lack of boldness in switching captain from Goddard to Swan last minute.

I’d be interested to know Motts/all view on Bryce Gibbs. This is about the fifth ‘blockbuster’ he’s played in where he just can’t get the ball. And last night when he got it he fumbled, no doubt due to the intense pie pressure.

    Are our expectations too high?

Will he just be a good, not great player?

  16. 483/4/Swan

Dissapointed in Swan’s score, but then again most people either have him or Pendles as el capitano, so no harm done.

Decided last minute against bringing in Curnow (for Bewick). Saved the trade for some tasty down grade targets when Mzungu and friends come back. Short term loss for long-term gain.

In the LoEC, locked in a tough battle with Dragenblade (669/6/Swan).

Going to regret lots of things this week. Gut said Boyd stupid F#@king head said Pendles. Same head also had Hacksaw and Eddie K on the bench. Not out of the running yet but got a shart load of catchup to do.

  19. Yeah, I was just trying to remain positive so as not to spoil my weekend from now.

I’m pinning my hopes on McKernan being a sub. I know you’re reading this Craig David!!

Nonetheless, I’m sure Tippet will do a knee Q1 and McKernan will come on and kick a 5 goal haul and 150 points.

  20. 527/6/C Pendelbury. Pretty average effort from Pendelbury, Murphy and co. Only saving grace is my opposition had the same players.

  21. Glad I jumped on Curonw last night when he wasn’t named as a sub…. Fairly impressed now. Even happier there in no one on blues injury list to force him out…. I smell $400k…. But I prob should have put him on the field.

  23. foley, selwood, montagna and harris better play, as i had liberatore as emg and not curnow, going to go both but ended up going with Markovic as fwd emg, libba mid and duigan def. Should of had hacksaw in instead if maybe otten or lower! DOH!
    301/3/Goddard
    Juddy: 112
    Krak: 81
    Swan: 108
    RSVs:
Duigan: 95 or something like that
    Curnow: 92
Pretty happy with where I am at and especially Swan’s reasonably low score for his standards as all of my opponents had Swan as captain.

  24. that’s better, as in my comment i was really regretting going with libba emg and not curnow, but lucky libba isn’t sub

  25. last night, anyone watching on TV see at about 17.58 (to go) Hacksaw deliberately run one over the bounfary line, Collingwood player takes the free, Hacksaw smothers, goes to ground, 3 players scrambling for it and Hacksaw taps it over the boundary again and awarded another deliberate out of bounds! I was laughing my head off!

  28. I’m with you. Already have Libba, Harris, Krakouer, Swallow and Prestia. Didn’t want to lose Prestia for DPP swings but gonna hate watching Curnow’s price go throught the roof.

Does anyone know exactly what he’ll go up to next week?

  29. 705/7/Swan Not happy so far Had duigan and curnow sitting on the bench instead of Andy Otten and Harris hopin they can atleast match there scores and warnock let me down big time its not over yet but i might struggle to get 2100 the way ive started

  37. I hear you Motts. I resisted the temptation to make Swan or Judd the big C last night. Couldn’t cope having anything more riding on that game. Thought about Selwood but went with the Sandman. Changed from Sandi to God at the last minute (literally) …

  43. Solid trading, shocker on the team selection.

I went with a rookie switch (Bewick > Curnow) and saved the second trade. I nearly downgraded Higgins for him. With all the pain this round, that would have tipped me over.

  44. About…1343/14/Boyd.
Most likely be trading Curnow in regardless of his price rise [Should have traded for Boak!], Nevertheless his rise in price should be good even though i’m a 100k short.

Not so sure about Broughton or Otten anymore, but they might have both had a bad week.

  48. 1332/10/Swan, Bugger, got rid of Everitt, had Curnow and Duigan on the bench, Duigan would have been my second highest scoring backman so far and I left Harris in the midfield for Curnow, solid scores otherwise including tons from Sandi, Buddy and Pav.

Im happy but could have been better if i didnt have Conners in my team. Did he get Subbed tonight or is he just crap?? Is there anywhere i can see a list of played Subbed??

Big question is do i get Curnow next week and who i get for Conners after his massive price drop?? anyone has to be better than him. Fair enough it was wet but seriously does anyone have a favourable opinion why i should keep him??

  58. Still have Goddard, Grimes, Hurley, Heppell, Tappscott and Reiwoldt. So hopefully i can get 570 from those guys and a total of 2326, which ill be stoked. Always been a 1900-2100 scorer till this year. More research = Better scores.

Defence a shambles this week, but not too bad overall with Roo, Grimey, GOD and Tappy to play. In the firing line this week is Otten only.

Might have just snuck ahead of Dragenblade (1635/17/Swan). POD are Grimey (me) vs Heppell/Selwood. Ice men, how are yous travelling?

Traded out JP Kennedy for Gilbee for some DPP flexibility. Still got Godd, Heppell, Riewoldt, Tapscott, Chappers and Bartel so 2200 not out of the question. Already made 4 trades so have to stick with these boys for a bit. Very tight game in one league, he put Cross as Captain which could make the difference.

  72. Polec showing early signs of being the next band wagon to jump on. 50 SC pts in his debut quarter!

Tapscott returns 1pt for the quarter!! He is human after all!

Consistent with the “Return of the Spud” theme for Rd 3, Mitch Clark looks to have finally woken up. Add him to the list of comebacks; JP Kennedy, Everitt, H Shaw, Yarran (actually 111 not 11 as shown at random times on Fanfooty.), Brennan, Goodes, Foley, Gaff (61 starting sub!), Naitanui,

Continuing with Spud status; Johncock, Jolly, Otten, K Hunt, Bateman, Conca, Helbig, Astbury,

On the downward spiral; Delidio, J Reiwoldt, Newman, Dangerfield, Thomas, Warnock, Gibbs, M Murphy, ROK, Hurn,

Killing it; Hodge, Franklin, Fyfe, Thompson, Mundy, Blair, Boyd, Cross, Higgins, GAJ (Apollo – Sun God), R Murphy, Burgoyne, Cox, Goodes, Bolton!!, Priddis

  81. A tough weekend I reckon for many. Managed 1998 and I’ll take it too. I’ve had most of the gun rookies since pre season but every week I’ve gotten which to play and which to leave on pine wrong! Saying that loved Mattner this weekend and my $10 on Hey Jude for brownlow at $101 may be a master stroke. Ps how good was young Ranga Rohan in last quarter for the Swannies, got them over the line I reckon.

Choice of captain (Pendles) = FAIL (changed from Boyd at last minute)
Chossing Otten,Libba and Harris over Duigan,Curnow and Swallow = FAIL

Still scoring 2185 but getting beaten in main league by 105pts = EFFING FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d like to say that Broughton, Grimes & stevie J are in the gun but I don’t trade Premiums unless LTI but I do have to find some way to get Swannie,GAJ,Watson or Bartel into the line up.

Bad week without my best team on the field (damn last minute trades) and to top it off had my 1st loss, by one point, in my main league. Oh well, must now use the time off over the long break to get the Bender Rovers to hardern the f••• up!

Does anyone know if often was a sub for the crows yesterday?

Did awesome, maybe I will stick woth Foley for another week after all! Halfway through the round just before the Carlton and Richmond match I was already planning on trading him for Hodge or another premium! Bit with 109 on the board, no way am i trading him!
Who to trade? $243,900 in the bank.
Thinking Otten or Knights (who I had both on bench this week) Foley has cemented another week at least.
Arrrghhh, forgot hoe frustrating SuperCoach can be since last year!

  93. Let me in, I wanna start trading!

Are there any backmen (aside from Goddard) that can score 100?

Andy Otten, If I could buy anything for $185K you’d be in trouble.

    Varcoe is a rollercoaster.

Some smart trading over the lon break could

  94. I think the secret lies in contested possessions and efficiency %
According to AFL.com.au stats, which I don’t trust much, especially when you toggle different options the figures jump across columns!!!

    K H D M T U C DE% Clg
    11 17 28 1 6 16 10 86 2

    U = Unconstested
    C = Contested
    Clg = Clanger
    DE% = Effective Disposal Percentage

So, pretty high effectiveness, good few tackles and low clangers… together with 28 touches. I’d give that 100. Mind you, I couldn’t watch the game live so just going by stats suggests he contributed.

  96. 2125, pretty happy given how horribly everyone went.

Looking forward to the next three weeks, another round of rookies bursting and then multibyes separating the league win teams from the long term ones.

  99. 2081-Swan as captain.
Horror week. Considering dumping Knights and using some extra cash to upgrade. Otten killed me, and expected much bigger from Lids and Gibbs. My defence was miserable, and not having Rioli made it even worse.

Back to the drawing boards this week 🙁

  100. 2088 for the second time this year.

Dissapointed with the two players I brought in this week – Newman and Gibbs. They’ll bounce back though. Lids the same. Completey agree with whoever said Goddard will score 700 when he starts playing well!!

Few low scores overall (Tappy, Harris, Otten) with points sitting on the bench (Darling, Heppell, Duigan), but won 3 of 4 leagues. Well done Davo in SCT1.

  101. Don’t dump your Crows too quickly. It will be interesting to see what effect an early bye has on team/individual performances. Although I’m hating Otten tonight, I reckon the Crows will be back up again next week (Knights, Otten, McKernan et al) in the local derby.

If Adelaide’s “bye rebound” is anything to go by, Kangaroos will be sluggish next week. The Dockers could be in for a field day at home. I’m predicting big scores from Lower, Broughton, Pavlich, Sandilands et al. Hmmm, what to do about Richardson, Petrie et al?

  102. If you’re looking for a solid backman around 400-500k, I’d consider Enright. He has his bad days, but his extremley durable and his the go-to-man in the Cats defence. If you’re looking for a mid-pricer, Rob Murphy looks brilliant. Adcock got 130 something too. Lots of options there.

  104. Thanks for the advice! Might hold off his week. Richardson had huge wraps during the pre-season. ‘The next Barlow’ etc. I’d persist with him. Didn’t pick Petrie because I thought Zac Smith was a very good back-up. Surely is! Any news on Sandman’s eye injury?

  105. 2186 with swan captain and spuds of the likes of mckernan, deledio and knights to name a few..
have a couple of trade dilemmas.
    – who to swap simon buckley for?
    – is there still value in putting in curnow of tapscott? (decided to jsut opt with liba.. stupid me!)
    – Knights for tapscott as a potential trade? who will go up more?
    – Gaff for Curnow as a trade? curnow can still skyrocket.. right?

  106. 2,082. Disappointing, but I still managed to win 2 of 4 leagues. Had Cox as captain, but made some terrible bench decisions, like Foley and Duigan. Even managed to only select 2 emergencies (luckily all backman played).

1 huge question on Johncock. Terrible scores, and I’m really not sure whether to hold or trade. What do people think? A 41 and 71 for average of 56.

On another note, Motts, I won’t rub it in. I’ll take it as a lucky win. But I do have to make mention of your choice to trade Everitt for Newman. To put it bluntly, if you had of saved a trade, you would’ve won! 😉

  109. don’t think I’m stupid, but i think anyone with Matt Pavlich in their team should put him captain, 20 touches 7 marks 2 tackles and 4 goals 2 in round 10 last year against North Melbourne, which was at Subiaco.

  110. Alternatively TC you can put Swan captain as a long shot. He scored a respectable 190 last year against the Tiggers…
