R6 We Have Lift Off

by Duck on May 4, 2012

Still haven’t been able to get the perfect 9 and this week doesn’t look like it will be any easier to tip. Hoping for an SC win after a few disappointing losses.

Let’s get the progress scores up and see how we’re all faring.

Great start to round 6:
Pendles with the big C: scores 145/290
Clarke (100) and Lake (86) punching above their weight
3/476

Very happy. All 4 magpie players topped 100 pts. Plus pendlebury as captain. Don’t think I have had 600 pts in the bank after 1 game before,

*Cloke- had me worried for the first half… Thankful he lifted, was hoping for more than 82 though.
* Pendles, I knew I shoulda made him captain! Friday night captain hoodoo? Where?
* Very happy with Heath Shaw.

Gg, the Friday night captain rule doesn’t apply to GAJ or Pendles. It’s footnoted in the rule book.

Real Team – 100/1/Duckwood VS Deano (bet you wish you had the C on Pendles right now ;) )

SCTTL – 548/4/Pendles

Happy I made Pendles captain in my SCTTL but a bit worried about going Kennedy over him for GAJ to save cash in my real team.

How good is Marty Clarke. Everyone’s talking up Giles and Bugg as the best bargains of the year but Clarke is right up there and might even find a spot at D7 come finals time.

Massively screwed up panic trading Shaw to Rance just to avoid my first donut of the year. It was literally last second. So much so that got stuck with Rance on the bench. Also screwed up my bye plan. #palmtoface

Maybe bringing Dollhouse into my SCTTL in RD2 wasn’t quiet the stroke of genius I first thought but still think he’ll be ok for a while.

Mixed bag fish.

+1 on Clarke. Looks the most Keeper-like in my backline at the mo.

+1 on Shaw Panic Button. If it makes you feel better, that week I got Carrazzo in, who’s subsequently been turned into Suckling. Don’t even get me started on the bye plan #palmtoface

-1 on Dahlhaus

With GAJ peddling away on the exercise bike, had to bring in Pendles (for Carrots) to take on the perma-captain role until the chosen one returns. And he did not disappoint. Sidebum continues to amaze. Boyd was a lowlight however with a paltry 82.

Got the jump on Bender Rovers in the LOEC1, as he chose Swan Captain #swanisnotexemptfromthefridaynightcaptainrule

Off Topic…

Just happened to notice the Demons’ remaining fixture…

They should close their eye, go to sleep for 7 weeks, wake up after the Rd 12 bye and start the season all over again…

Next 6: Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney (SCG), Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood

BYE

Next 11: GWS, Bris (G), Rich, Freo (Home), Port (Home), Nth, GCS (Home), StK, GWS, Adel (Home), Freo (PS)

(Shaw, Clarke, Lake)
The 4 includes a fwd doughnut.

At the moment i’m wishing i traded Sidebum into the team rather than Lewis but it’s one only game and i’ll back Lewis in the long run.

My opponent in LoEC (Steve) is already on 680 thanks to Pendles (c), Swan, Cloke, Clarke and Lake. That will take the whole weekend to hopefully pull back.

Brought Pendles in but didn’t put the C on. Hope I don’t regret it.

LoEC1 opponent has a strange set up:
- Judd on field MID with C on him, picks up the E from Shiel = OK
- Collects VC from Pendlebury (290) as a fall back = WIN
- A Hall on field FWD, picks up E from Hampton = OK
- Shaw’s 120 rotting the pine with E on Sam Darley, Smedts on field = FAIL

Even still, a very close match up!

601 / 4 Pendles as C.
Pendles, Shaw, Clarke & Lake have gave me a great start in LoEC v Motts, however it will be close.

Over the moon with Pendles as C after last week’s disaster of trading Stanton in for GAJ & Stanton stinking it up as VC, only to be trumped by Goddard stinking it up even more as C. Twas the worst weekend since the missus monopolized lounge tv with a sex and the city marathon weekend!. However Cisse’s 2 wonder goals for the toon on thurs morning hinted at better times ahead.

Leo, all 3 goals were absolute pearlers. The nutmeg prior to Suarez’s goal v Stoke and then to finish like that was top drawer. Crouch has always had a great touch on him for a bloke who is 6 foot 7′ & that goal was spectactular. Cisse, Ben Arfa and Cabaye have all scored a few belters for Newcastle this season. Ben Arfa for me has been the most exciting player in the second half of the EPL season.
After your 8th hatrick and 68th?? goal of the season, surely you fancy playing in the EPL next season? Chelsea or Man City would build a team around you.

Brought Lewis in fwd with ablett money and kept the $$$$$!
. Maybe should have been sidearse. But it was bar enough having the amount of pies players I already have!
My opponent traded ablett for J Kennedy and made him skipper.. Will have to see.

His the top side. Whilst I’m second. Hopefully get back ontop. Only thing is my only on field ruck is giles.. While he has giles and longer

Regular: 608/5/Smurf
Everyone raised their bat to the crowd which was great, was just under 10k short of bringing Beams in for Milera so I didn’t trade this week. Went with the Krooz missile ahead of Giles in their head to head. Would be nice if the good scoring continues.

SCTTL 2: 601/4/Pendlebury/14th
I have 16 similars & only 6 uniques in my battle against Shaw Bet 448/4/Smurf/5th.

HGL + 153 pts v SB
Pendlebury 290 – Smurf
Smurf – Beams 137
Morris – Fisher
JMac – Greene
Milera – Coniglio
Roo – Kennedy
Who will win? Me – Thumbs Up. Him – Thumbs Down.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 2 Thumb down 6

Very please one week in with my Fyfe to Beams trade

With all the carnage that we’ve had the last few rounds and the forced side to side trades will Clarke, Lake ( and Bugg) be fighting for the B6/7 positions at seasons end I wonder!

Kept Gaz..He was on the bike and felt great he twitted and running today…Fingers crossed he plays next week

Mummy – Roughy was second forced trade….With the plan at turning Roughy to my F5 and bringing possibly Mummy back in later on….My opponent had Krooz so I was going to play with a doughnut until late Friday’s announcement. But 1-2 after 3 I need a win so no risks taken..Don’t love that trade though…Lets see how I feel about it tonight after Hawks – Saints game…

Heater was my fourth player very happy with his comeback…

started well yesterday with my few pies and dogs players, but the 4 that just played were pretty hopeless.

Bartel (94) was good, but dissapointing he got subbed off
Magner (58) not to bad, would have liked a bit more
Adkcock (64) very disappointed would have liked a lot more
Rockliff (70) traded him in this week, very disappointing debut hopefully bounces back big next week

The Reds were pretty stiff but to be honest I think they shot themselves in the foot waiting 60 minutes in to have decent crack. Despite the result might be a good shot in the arm for Carroll going forward though.

Main Team
1114/12/Murphy (Donut from Joelwood)

I am more interested in my SCTTL team matchup against Motts
Squirelly Wrath
1044/8/Stanton
My POD’s are Scotland, Murphy, Greene, Kennedy and Ellis
Motts: +119 and Murphy (X2)
I’m thinking that Scotland will pick up the +119 (and then some hopefully) which means that # rookies will need to make up whatever total Murphy makes….. I think I am not going to make it…Murph will smash out 200 easy against the hats.

934/10/Murphy (Includes a Selwood sized donut)

Ryan O’Keefe on debut didn’t set the world on fire with his 83. Was looking okay at half time on 52. Shattered I didn’t pick up Johnson instead and pocket the extra 50K. He was always going to smash Melbourne single-handedly. Have had O’Keefe in my team a fair bit over the last few years and he has rarely let me down. Just had to go with him, his huge score ceiling, and his MASSIVE POD factor in only 1.49% of teams. Hopefully Johnson spuds it up against Adelaide and Collingwood in the next two weeks to make up for it.

Team: JuNioR MaFiA
1329/12/Murphy

The Good: After a slow start Pavlich (148pts) carried the Dockers on his back to win the match. The Suns have an exciting list (Bennell, Swallow, Horsley, Prestia, Caddy) and once these younger blokes fill out & gain the stamina to compete over 4Q’s against top 8 teams ….theyre gonna surprise alotta people.
Pendlebury’s 145pts still hasnt convinced me if it was a good idea to trade him in for GAJ. Had to make a play to win league games before i fell way behind & went against everything i believed in. Im hoping it pays off.
Chappy (122pts) was back to his best, S.Thompson is a possession machine (119pts) & Dangerfield (122pts) continues to impress me…..the change of coach and position has finally tapped into the talent & potential we all knew he had. Lakey (91pts) & M.Clarke (100pts) are proving to be the bargain backmen of 2012.

The Bad: Ross Lyon’s decision to use Duffield in a more defensive role has given me 55pts, Porps (66pts) had a promising start before fading away in the second half.

The Ugly: Goodesy (110pts) smashes out 5 goals against the Crows before suffering a hamstring injury in the 4th Q. Dont know how bad it is but im crossing my fingers and praying its a one or two weeker & not a month long injury.

Scotland, Waters, Deledio, HMac, Dusty, Giles, JMac, A.Kennedy and Bugg to take the field along with Smurph as El Capitano.

I just got home (we had a cheeky night out on the town) and now I would have been in better spirits about out loss BUT came home to see my shitty, crap, crappiest crap SC side’s scores. Then I hear Fisher is injured, McEvoy injured. NDS tagged to obliteration. We were busy having a good ole gassbag and gossip, so I missed those at the game, well Fisher anyway. I was wondering what Saad and Kosi were actually doing out there. Had also been at work all day so had no info at all.

Just about Gutted.

Play nice with me next Monday Motts, I’m freakin’ fragile. Bar is looking like a good option already and the game is a whole week away. I’m ready to sing the song with you, I’m not a sore loser.

That said, being the sooky girl I am I’ll leave you with this emoticon

Kozi was taking great marks and never looked like missing. He really did look good.
Only saw bits of the game when Saad came on, but saw him do a couple of good things. Handy player for the Saints and good SC potential. Saad and Milera were good pick ups this season. Getting hungry players with second tier experience is better than our recent luck with recycled players such as Polo, Peake, Lovett, the two Geelong small forwards etc.

I like Peake. Think I may be the only one who does LOL (but not in terms of Supercoach) I understand he is not getting games due to the youth policy. If Ross had played more younger players we would be a much better side #FURL poor Watters is left to pick up the pieces, I think he is doing a great job working with what he’s got. Looking forward to watching Siposs, Steven, Stanley, Milera, Saad and others develop. Maybe this year we are going to have to take 2 steps back in order to move forward. The young guys sure have some amazing talent to mentor them. The window is shut but we have solid building blocks there. What will the future hold?

Peake try’s hard but just does not have a great footy brain and makes poor decisions for me.
Could’nt agree more, at seasons end, you watch the horse trading begin. He will keep all the reasonably young ones i.e. <24, all the guns (roo, NDS, Montagna, Lenny, Godd, Fisher, Big Boy McEvoy) as well as keeping good club men such as Kozi, Milne & Gilbert etc. Any midrange players such as Polo, Ray, Blake, Clarke, Peake etc need to be shipped out & replaced by talented youth + promising players we can snare with the new freedom of movement law.

Welcome PAVLICH!
Was gonna kill someone at half time but like a champion he came through with a match winning performance!!

The suns don’t need to respect freo because freo didn’t respect them.
If it wasn’t for the injuries during the game they would have beat them.

Pendles as vice

Dusty, Lids, hombsch, bugg, kennedy, giles, mcintosh and pfieffer to come.
Ellis sub to cover bock, shiel sub to cover selwood.

So might still crack over 2000.

Dilema, Bock to who. Was thinking duffman but after yesterday not happy.
Thinking Johnson or Broughton

T/up Broughton
T/dn Johnson

Or any other suggestions?

Is it just me or are there more injuries this year than last, I have lost count of the number of hammies and season enders and we are only six rounds into the season. I think it is going to be last man standing in SC finals..

1697 / 14 (Pendles)
Lids, D.Martin, Morris, Cox, Giles, Kennedy, Greene & Bugg to bring it home.
Motts to come home strong in LoEC1 with Cotchin as C and Kreuzer, Murphy & Gibbs all going to score big, but fingers crossed not more than 800 between them.
Hale responding to the pat on the back during the week worked!

Any early predictions on how long Goodes is out for? Gutted, only just getting team back together.

Brogan just went off with what looks like a broken wrist / arm so Giles moving into the ruck should help his scores.
With O’Halpin? & Phil Davis joining him up forward he was no longer the only main tall option so Brogan going down save him from having a low score.

Whole team scoring tons aside from Lake (91) and Tippett (42)

Selwood playing would have been nice to but young Debon Smith is going ok as my emergency.

Would be headed for a big score if only I didn’t have a doughnut in the rucks due to Sandi, Big O and Redden all out.

EVERYTHING is going wrong for me this round. Will score poorly for the 2nd week in a row.

Think it’s the SC gods teaching me a lesson for trading out GAJ.

ONly thing that can make me happy would be an upset North win and Martin, Deledio and Swallow to each score 150+. If Murphy was to kick 10 last quarter goals that would be good too.

1587 with only Deledio, Martin and Swallow to go.

Will be the worst result i’ve ever had and i’m ashamed of myself.

Here’s hoping my three to come at least get tons and i can sneak up to 1900.

Murphy as captain was probably my biggest let down as was seeing Smith score a ton after i’d traded him out.
