R8 Captains Poll

Written by Duck on May 17 2013

With Hawks, Gold Coast and Collingwood all playing back to back on Saturday you’ll need to be on your game if you plan on using anyone from those teams with the “VC > C” switcharoonie. Still, there’s plenty of options to pick someone from earlier games and roll them into a Sunday captain.

I can’t say too much on what I plan on doing, as I’m playing Motts this week, and he reads this site a bit.

Who gets the top job for you, and let us know your combinations if you’re playing that way.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

I haven’t listed EVERYONE that could be a possibility, but let us know who and why if you think someones been overlooked that’s a real chance to hit big this weekend.

  1. I think Lower will have something to prove on ablett this week after owning swallow last week

  5. Cox with the VC and will jump on Ablett if not happy with his score. An abundance of loophole skippers with no Gibbs, Shaw, Maric, Viney or Heath.

  7. Seriously considering Cox for the VC with his record against North Melbourne, but think that I will go:

    VC – Franklin
    C – Ablett

Just hoping Buddy gets to play the full game, unlike the last time that they met

  8. VC – GAJ into C-Cotchin using Maric as loophole
Cotchin on one leg against Melbourne will still score 140+

  9. Ablett – VC (Gibbs C)

    Pendles – Captain

for me this week due to timing of games…Nervous going the other way around..But in theory it should be the same thing really…..

  10. Gazza’s a lock for my classic team but in my draft I have Jobe, Dustin and Swanny.

Swanny has a poor record against Geelong so it’s between Dusty (in ripping form and versing the hapless Dees) and Jobe (who should rack them up against perennial underachievers Brisbane).

    T/U – Dusty as a smokey
T/D – Play it safe and go Jobe

  11. Would love to go Buddy as vc and GAJ as back-up captain but the timing just doesn’t really work. You’d have to make the decision based on Buddy’s 3/4 time score which is a little clunky.

After watching the way Lower and Picken tag-teamed on on Swallow last weekend and made his impact on the contest minimal i’d expect them to TRY and do the same thing on GAJ. It probably won’t work but you never know. So, with that in mind, i’m going to lock GAJ as in VC and pick a Sunday player as captain knowing Gibbs can get the C if GAJ does well. Thinking it’s between Walker (vs Port) and Cotch and Dusty (vs Dees). If i had Dangers i’d consider him against the Saints too.

Assuming GAJ will get 120+ and i’ll happily take his score.

  13. No has mention him just yet but I sure more than half of us have traded him in this week. Pretty Priddis scored 170 last year vs the Roos, could be a nice VC pod this week 😉

  14. Was thinking about using Cox as my VC but then again PA makes a great point Priddis could be a great choice, everyone would be bringing him in but how many would use him as the VC

Ablett will carry the C, tagger or no tagger he is that damn good he will find a way to get the ball.

Off subject Gibbs not back again hurts, i seem to be the only player in my leagues that have stuck by him and kept him on the pine. Should i follow suit or stick by him for another week.

    Trade Him (thumbs Up)
    Keep Him (thumbs down)

  15. The little Master for me
As im leaving tonight to go away for the weekend up the South Coast i wont be able to do the LoopHole so Gazza’s the safest bet. Although Buddy could kick 15…..

  16. Will be VCing Jab. If that doesn’t work out I’m really tempted to give Dusty a crack. Would have thought he would love a flat track but his record against the easy-beats isn’t actually that good. Probably better off going with Swanny, especially with Taylor Hunt out for the Cats and Ball back in to help with the grunt work for the Pies.

  17. With JPK being too strong for the Sweat Bandit and back in some good form last week could be a good POD.

  18. I have a feeling Stevie Johnson could go big against Collingwood considering Collingwood hardly tag and the form he has been in

  19. VC to Big Cox, if he duff’s it…….Jobe or Gazza to take the big (C) 2morrow.

Cox’s last 4 games v North have gone……….141. 215, 148 & 165, worth the VC in my opinion! 140+ or the bi (C) is moved on.

  20. I’m not xactly certain how to go with this. My two options are:

Jobe VC into Gaz C or – T/U
Gaz VC into Pendles (or depending on my second trade, Stevie J!) T/D
    Any thoughts?

My thoughts, Jobe against the hapless lions could light it up … and he’s due to pull out a big one … and, well Pendles or Stevie J could just do anything I guess … tough choice, especially with the probable tag on Gaj!!
