Random Observation

Written by Motts on March 19 2011

Don’t know about you but gee I get a giggle out of some of the pics of people who are our fans on FB. The bloke, Robert, ripping his shirt up to display his guts never fails to get a smile. Same goes for Wayne Wiedemann’s mullett.

Keep up the great work, team!

  1. Hahaha, with you there Motts.

    There was a bloke on there a few weeks back who had his profile pic of the “Barefooted fugitive”( hobo with dreadlocks from the paper ) James D’Zilva who stabbed a copper in Healesville. All because I think because he had the same surname. I used to know that hobo from School and was piss funny everytime I logged into your site.
    Was going to mention something then but may as well bring it up now. 😀

  2. That guy Telis lying there next to his dog in a pose that looks post-coitus is pretty funny too.

    (PS: Telis is a mate of mine – I would never take the piss like that out of one of our beloved fans)

  4. Been doing some serious SC thinking this afternoon and i’m starting to think to really push for overall glory this year, one will need to do a couple of like-for-like trades, gun for gun, to minimise scoring losses with byes. In SC we’ve always tisk tisked at those that burn trades on like-for-likes but this year i see it as essential.

    There’s plenty of examples where a canny trade at the right time will make that ‘gun position’ only cop one bye for the season rather than two.

    That said there is a 3 round window mid-year where a few teams are yet to have had a bye but Gold Coast (2nd bye Rnd 9) have had two. This golden option relates to Essendon (1st bye Rnd 10), Richmond (1st bye Rnd 11) and Port (1st bye Rnd 12).

    Three ways i can see this being of benefit:
    1) An Essendon, Richmond or Port rookie can be upgraded to a Gold Coast gun – namely G. Ablett (possibly Bock, Harbrow, Rischitelli and Brennan but i’m just going to talk about GAJ here)
    >>> eg. Heppell/Hibberd/Irons –> GAJ
    ….. while this is beneficial, what i’m talking about is limiting the times during the season that your guns are sitting on the pine so it doesn’t really factor into my analysis, but probably something that does hold Ess, Rich and Port rookies a little higher in my eyes.

    2) A Richmond or Port gun being traded before their bye to a well rested, two bye Gold Coast gun (GAJ)
    >>> Foley/Cotchin/Boak –> GAJ
    ….. highly beneficial as it lowers the times during the season that your guns are on the pine but there is a better option still

    3) An Essendon gun for a Gold Coast gun (GAJ)
    >>> Watson –> GAJ
    This i am calling the golden option. Essendon players are currently being shunned due to their Rnd 24 bye so a proven gun like Watson is relatively unique this season due to circumstance. Using this loophole (and we all love loopholes in SC) you could pick up a unique player and get ahead of the pack by missing two byes that alot of other teams will cop. We’re only talking the points difference between a F1-4 and a F7 type so it’s not huge but that could equate to 100ish points over the season and every little bit helps!! (FUCK … WHY AM I SHARING THIS PEARLER OF AN IDEA WITH THE WORLD!!)

    With this in mind i am seriously opening my mind to Watson as a contender for my team with the view of trading him into Ablett for Rnd 10 (somewhere along the way i’ll have to generate the extra cash i may require). Of course, the whole idea goes down the plug hole if Ablett misses some games in the back of the season.

  5. RANDOM OBSERVATION:
    Just saw the footage of Daniel Kerr belting a WAFL player in a pack and apparently he’s going to get away with it as the umpire missed it and in the WAFL they don’t allow reports off video.

    Bloody thug act if you ask me.

  6. The scary thing is that if you take a 10min walk around Adelaide you will soon notice that the Wayne Wiedemann mullett has never gone out of style…
