I was giving a little thought to next season and the fact there will be a Bye, and how SC will work with the bye as I know Motts posted up the concept a little while ago and got me thinking. So assuming SC cuts you no slack with regards to the Bye and you get a doughnut for your players that have the Bye it makes sense to have a diverse split of players across all teams….. So, will I have GAJ when he’s playing for the GC when he’s prob going to be worth approx $750k?
My considerations:
- Will I have anyone else from Goldie? Probably not (that’s a +)
- Will he be able to maintain his ridiculous average/price? Probably not (that’s a -)
- Will he be half as good as he is with the Cats? Probably not (that’s a -)
- Will his team get smashed most weeks? Probably (that’s a -)
- If I get him, would I keep him all year and make him captain each week? Probably (that’s a +)
So will I have him….. undecided!
Any other considerations? What do you think, will you have him?

Right now, the only two blokes who have earned their 2011 guernseys with the Maulers are BJ and Hodge. As you’ve indicated, there are too many ?’s over GAJ right now for me to give you a definite yay or nay today.

How could anyone go Roo right now not knowing how he’s going to come back from the hammy? I’m not saying he’s out – Lord knows he was one of the first picked this year – I’m just saying that as of right now I can’t definitely say he’s in.

Rooey has till year end to prove himself again…. he was my first picked in the forward line this year…. and ‘may’ be again by year end if he can return to form/fitness.

Yeah, BJ and Hodgey are likely to be picked by every single coach next year. Don’t know what price he’ll be but if he’s sub $450K Daniel Harris is an automatic for me too. Great at the clearances and while Gold Coast are likely to struggle in year one i think it’ll be similar to Tuck this year at the Tiges .. someone has to pick up some points for them.

Do you think that Harris will outscore Jesus?

What were the knocks on Harris? Was it leg speed?

I didn’t pick up ablett this year and have been waiting for his price to drop now that it has I’m not sure if he’ll get back to his best. I’ll be weighing him up next year but price will be the issue

Was the SC salary cap raised this year, and if so, by how much?
Having a bye doesn’t change too much beyond having an enforced change every week which will add a little unpredictability to teams and therefore scores. The players that will be strongly affected are the ones that have too much reliance on one, or a couple of teams.
The bye will increase rotations so a knowledge of rookies, smokies etc will be more beneficial and sites like SCT will become more important as a font of valuable information. To that end, I think that consumers of sites like this will have a more pronounced advantage over the regular SC patron.
What I’d like to see next year -besides the pies going back to back- is extra trades for the week/year and a raised salary cap that is actually greater than the raise in player values that I expect to take place.

yes i do, goodes should be moved back into the midfield, which will bring his scores back up…he just needs to kick straight when hes in the forward lne then he’ll score over 100 consistently..

Players to watch over the next two weeks:
Andrew Strijk (WC)- DEF- $83,400
An excellent kick, and West Coast need that, so he should hold his spot. He is also a mature-age rookie, might be another great story of the year.
and
Kody Stevens (WC)- MID- $94,400
35 possesion, BOG performance for East Fremantle last week, so we’ll see how he goes. But West Coast can give afford to give the new kids a run, so he should also keep his spot.
These two players will be two of only a few downgrade oppurtunities left for the year so keep an eye on them.

The same way they do now.
By the end of trading, next season GC17 will have approx. 20 – 26 players from other clubs playing this season who will have their prices calculated as they do now for a traded player eg: Fev this year.
The balance will be a mixture of 2009 17yo draftees, 2010 National draftees, PS draftees and rookie draftees who will be priced according to the existing system with maybe some variance for the 2009 boys as this is the only anomoly to what all clubs currently have available.
