Rate Humperbird’s Team

Written by Motts on February 15 2011

I’ve been looking at quite a few of the teams that have been posted today but this particular one caught my eye. (1) Because Engeldick thinks its perfect and (2) because after looking at it, I actually can’t find too many faults with it (the lack of available cash is a problem but not a major one).

What does everybody else think?

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, J. Grimes, A. Otten, D. Heppell, S. McKernan (J. Toy, N. Duigan, P. Puopolo)

MID: S. Pendlebury, L. Hodge, B. Gibbs, L. Anthony, S. Higgins, D. Swallow (A. Gaff, D. Harris, S. Atley)

RUC: A. Sandilands, D. Jolly (M. Bailey, T. Derickx)

FWD: P. Chapman, A. Didak, N. Riewoldt, C. Rioli, P. Dangerfield, S. Day, A. Krakouer (T. Mzungu, I. Smith, I. Callinan)

CASH LEFT: $600

  1. Thanks Motts. If no-one comments, does that mean it is perfect?

Wonder if I can slap a patent on this squad.

  2. I think Didak is the only one that I would change…. But probably only because I hate Collingwood…. Alot.

So yes, that’d be a perfect 10 in my books.

  4. Too many rooks on the field for my likely. You haven’t use the DPP option too well either, only having one F/M and one D/M in the center line. Nice ruck combo, I give you a 7.5/10.

  6. Three points:
    No bench coverage in the rucks means globes in rds 6 & 7 at least (I presume a “perfect team” is going for overall glory);
No DPP in the midfield rookies; and
    No Hurn.

  8. I have a perfect 11 out of 10 but am not willing to share. I agree with PA , too many rookies on the field, and alot of money to be lost in your forward line

  9. my only issue with it would be that every week there will be a bye and the bench players aren’t great however that being said, the quality of the other may just be enough to cover the possible low score of the bench

  10. You’re all banking on Heppell, Toy, etc. to take starting spots in your side when they haven’t even played a game. I need to see more of Puopolo, Batchelor, Gaff, and McKernan before I am convinced and one swallow doesn’t make a summer although Mzungu looked like he belonged. The most impressive rookie from the first weekend in my opinion was Brodie Smith from Adelaide. He played senior football in the SANFL last year and I believe he will play alot of games this year as the Crows look for some run and carry.

  11. Round 6 the major concern for me there. Chappy, Rioli, Mzungu and Smith are all waving good. Missy can DPP only and that means no subs in FWDs.

Too risky for me. Although I’m currently running a 2-1-3 strategy in my mids. Go figure.

  12. Backs- one to many rookies I think especially with Otten coming off a LTI.

Mids- Higgins is very injury prone. Personally would put another rookie in as I think the midfield is the only place worth starting 2 or more rookies. But if you want him badly watch his preseason closely

    Rucks- rucks are great.

Forwards- watch Didak coming off a pec injury apparently not training strongly. KPP’s in this case Day tend to take a few years to score well and consistantly if at all eg. Hawkins and Watts. Also having 2 sets of 2 players from the same team in one line in this case Adelaide and Hawthorn is a bit of a risk

    Just some food for thought

  13. Anyone able to rate my team? My second go at SC and doing my hwork for once. IMO my forwards and backline is solid but i am exposed in midfiled in round 1 with two GC players and bye. Will Contin and Hibberd be starters in R1? Any 90-130k players that will be assured a round 1 start?

Backline: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Malceski, Adcock, Otten, Heppell (Toy, Duigan, Brodie Smith)
Mids: Swan, Selwood, L.Anthony, A. Krakouer, D. Harris, D.Swallow (Hibberd, Contin, Simpkin)
    Rucks: Sandi, Cox (Z.Smith, Derickx)
Forwards: Chapman, Franklin, Didak, Pavlich, S.Johnson, Dangerfield, Mzungu (B.Matera, S.McKernan, J.Lamb)

Also interested on whether people would prefer Boyd or Montagna to Selwood? Didak I’m also not sure on…
