  3. This is assuming klinger plays otherwise ill trade him to someone like NCN and edwards could become pope maybe if edwards bats at number 6 but wait and see on team lists i guess. This is the team i have planned out till at least round 8 to have 4 DGW players from each team each week but still not to sure on it overall

Lynn, willey (c), denly, klinger, bryant
    Bench- ingram, ludeman

    Carey
    Bench-philippe

Tye, khan, j.richardson, ur rahman, pattinson
    Bench-shinwari, j.edwards

    1. Hard to fault Matty as you have slot of similar player to my team and you set up well for Round 1 and going forward with DGW players.
Klinger if not named to Henriques an option. Not totally sold on Bryant either.

      1. Yea i had henriques initially but ive never been keen on him in t20 even at his price now. He kinda reminds me of ferguson..more of a longer format style batter but we will see. Im keeping an eye on inglis who could potentially open if klinger isnt there. Yea people are 50/50 on bryant bit i think he will play and i love the way he bats so ill back him in…hes basically a cheaper version of mccullum

  5. Hey J, I think Cartwright is a risky pick not knowing where he will bat in the Scorchers lineup from 4-6. At 90k I think there are better options in your tab list. Also I would only start with 1 of the 2 Hobart players listed as keepers and I would go with the 12k cheaper Wade as he is the likely keeper so more points are on offer with him for dismissals as a keeper.
I think replacing McDermott to one of your watch list players might be the way to go.
I like the idea of 3 keepers in the team and the rest of the team with W/K’s and your bowling is line up solid.
    Good Luck J!

    1. Thanks for the great suggestions Death Adder! I am also a bit hesitant on Cartwright. Want to keep $100000 spare.
Positives – Plays as bit of an anchor. Probably bat 3/4. Probably plays nearly every match compared to the scorchers bowlers who will be rotated due to depth.
Negatives – Low strike rate? Probably won’t bowl.
Like McDermott a lot. Plays at the Gabba first up and preparation for the double game in round 3.

    2. A lot really does depend on the team selections. Not sure when they release the XIs.
Another question is if a batsman that costs, say $160000 and scores a duck. How much will their price reduce?
      Best of luck Death Adder!

  6. What a surprise to jump on SCT & see all this BBL activity, big thumbs up to all ๐Ÿ™‚

    Team : Cattaโ€™s Clan

Bat : Lynn, Wiley, Denly, Buttler, McCullum,
    Bench – Henriques / Merlo

    W/K : Wade

    Whatโ€™s your thoughts TDA?

    1. Great selections Catta with the only worries consisting of J Bird and J Merlo. An option could be J Bird to S Lammichane and then move Lamichhane to the bench for J Pattinson. M Wade could be traded to J Phillipe thus increasing your remaining salary to 70,000 allowing Merlo to be traded to C Ingram in preparation for RD2.

      1. Love it, TDA

I do like the form Wade has shown in recent months, but that extra $$$$ will come in handy!

Merlo just a cash grab, cheapest option for bench only

        1

        1. Thanks. I think the best plan regarding Wade would be to start Ingram for the first 2 rounds and then trade him to Wade in RD3 capitalising on his double. By not starting Wade this could allow Buttler to move over to the WK spot allowing Ingram/Henriques to start or Phillipe moved to the WK bench bringing Ludeman on.

            1. Cheers, TDA

Thanks again Adam for your solid feed back.

Iโ€™ve ended up changing Buttler to starting keeper, Wade as B5, changed Ludeman to Phillipe & with the extra $$$$ changed Henriques to Ingram for R2 on the bench

Iโ€™m confident in Wade, heโ€™s had a extremely solid start to his season in the JLT series

              1

              0
              1. Does that mean you will still have Merlo and Bird on the bench. I would prioritise a better bench over starting Wade as there should not be a large differential between Wade,Ludeman, Ingram and Henriques.

I don’t know what your trade plans are for RD2 but if you want Wade desperately you can trade McCullum to him instead of waiting until rd3. Also since you have 4 heat players you will either have to hold 1 until rd4 or trade them in RD3 which is why I’m highlighting the need for a good bench as it will make your planning and trading a lot more easier.

                1

                0
                1. No both Bird & Merlo gone, Adam!

Looking at having huge start with 18 scorers in R1, keeping 4 Heat players for starters & benching Pattinson & trading the other 3 for R2 & 3

Lynn, Wiley, Denly, McCullum, Wade ( bench Ingram & Sutherland )

                  Buttler ( bench Philippe )

Tye, Khan, Behrendorff, Ur Rahman, Pattinson ( bench Lamichhane & Edwards )

Read a post tonight from Mick Lewis on FB, apparently young Lamichhane is impressing everyone at the stars!

                    1. Cheers TDA,

Seriously thinking Nabi in for Denly, as Adam has mentioned Denly can come in R2 until he takes off for national duties in R7

                      Nabi was great last year!

                  1. Cannot wait to watch him as I’ve yet to see any of his matches or highlights. An absolute shame he is only here for the first 4 rounds and the end of the tournament but hopefully he can have a great performance to ensure repeat appearances in the coming seasons.

He just turned 18 in August and had already played in the IPL before his 18th and by the sounds of it will have a similar career trajectory to R Khan.

Whilst the level of competition would be poor in the Nepal T20 league he has currently taken 5 wickets for 38 runs from 8 overs including 1 maiden in his past 2 matches in this week. Including the other T20 competitions he has been playing in since the end of October he has taken 17 wickets from his past 10 matches.

In regards to your team, great structure and selections and good luck for this format.

  7. Very happy with my current lineup and there hasn’t been much variation over the past fortnight with the only concern regarding the severity of Klinger’s injury.

    Bat: C Lynn, D Willey, M Nabi, B McCullum, M Klinger, (B Dunk, J Phillipe)

    WK: J Buttler, (T Ludeman)

    Bowl: R Khan, J Archer, N Coulter Nile, J Behrendorff, M Ur Rahman, (M Henriques, S Lamichhane)

    Remaining salary: 19,300

Plan to bring in Denly, Ingram, Laughlin in RD2 for Lynn, McCullum and Ur Rahman if the funds permit.

  9. Hey Sean without knowing your bank it makes it a bit trickier to analyse team.
First thoughts are to swap Sandhu to Berendorff and bank 8k as well as Berendorff having 2 games in Round 1 so double points are on offer. Not sold on Jewell or Sanga as bench options so J. Edwards with DPP @$42k could replace 1 and you could swing Philippe up to the batters bench and bring in Ludeman to your W-K bench.

Also not sure if Qadir will get a game for the Scorchers or bowl 4 overs with their strong bowling attack so Ingram who has a DGW in Round 2 could replace him for 9k or another option is the cheaper Henriques, but personally I prefer Ingram.

  11. Quite a good set up Xavier.Denly has been named in England Test Squad today so not sure what implications that will have for him.
My only real concern about your Team is Turner who comes in at 5. So you could swing Coulter-Nile to Batters for Turner and bring in a value pick Behrendorff as a Bowler.

  12. After a bit more thought and after listening to BBLFreehitpod #6 I think you should keep Lehmann and offload Ferguson as the strikers have DGW in round 2. Max Bryant likely to open is another good cheap bench option @$42k.

With the Sixers and Hurricanes having a DGW in Round 3 it might pay to bring in a Sixers player if Denly does not play. Also the Sixers do not have a Bye for the whole tournament so just pick a player that you would like in your side for the whole tournament. The guys from BBLfreehitpod are keen on Daniel Sams and are starting with him.

    0

    1. Really like him as an option as Thunder’s bowling attack is spin heavy and Sandhu and Watson are the only other pace options until Jordan arrives in rd7. Also should have an increased opportunity with the bat as from memory he only scored 8 runs in last year’s tournament.

Also Denly will leave for the English Test series in RD7 when Buttler and Root also head back and I think this should allow the Sixers to sign an international replacement player for the remainder of the tournament,

    1. Like the majority of the selections except for Root and Maddinson. Maddinson currently suffered an injury and will be out for the next 4-6 weeks and Root is 1 too many Thunder batsmen. Also bring Pattinson on for his DGW which would mean replacing Richardson.

Therefore an option could be Out: Richardson, Root and Maddinson and In: Ludeman (via J Edwards), M Nabi and J Denly.

  15. I am new to this BBL supercoach and playing this for very 1st time, i would appreciate if anyone can explain the rules is it similar to AFL supercoach i.e. 2 trades per week etc….if not let me know where can I find this info….also what do you mean by DGW?

Anyways my team as it stands….

    Batsmen:
C Lynn, J Denly, B McCullum, M Wade, C Ingram (M Henriques, M Klinger – is he fit to play? saw couple comments in this thread saying he is injured and in doubt to play RD1??)

    Wicket Keepers:
    J Butler (T Ludeman)

    Bowlers:
    R Khan, D Willey, J Archer, J Behrendoff, M Ur Rahman (S Lamichhane, J Edwards)

    Remaining Salary: $4,900

Please rate my team and would appreciate for some helpful tips to consider moving forward….

    Cheers,
    Raj

    1. 3 trades per week and DGW stands for double game week where a team has 2 games (eg Brisbane and Perth in Rd1).

Love the WK and bowling lineup with great selections in every spot whether on field or on the bench. An option could be Henriques and Wade out for Coulter-Nile and Dunk.

        Just tweaked my team

got rid of McCullum, Klinger (if he plays he is in) and Henriques
        Added N Coulter-Nile, J Pattinson and B Dunk

        Remaining Salary: $29,900

        1. I don’t mind the changes but would rather find a way to keep McCullum but be cautious of starting 4 Heat players as a plan will need to be implemented to combat that.

I highly recommend to any newcomers of bbl fantasy formats to devise a plan for the first 3-5 weeks regarding trading to either capitalise on the double game weeks or ensuring a solid line up due to the very short turnaround between rounds.

          1

          0
  16. Raj 1st off your team is solid.
You get 3 trades at the end of each round where you want to bring in players that have a Double Game Week or Round which is basically what DGW means as double points are on offer because that team plays twice so they score in both games in the Round.
You want to also use your 3 trades to trade out players that have the Bye in their next round. Hope that helps.

  17. Hi all,

    Current side:
Bravo, Lynn, Denly, McCullum, Henriques, (Harvey, Merlo)

Khan, Willey, Watson, Behrendorff, Ur Rahman, (Lamichhane, Edwards)

    Thoughts? 16k in bank

    1. Great to see someone starting with Bravo but a bit worried about the batting bench. If you wish to upgrade it an option could be Out: Watson, Harvey, Merlo, In: Coulter-Nile, Dunk and Ludeman.

      1

      0
      1. Thanks for the feedback, agree that the bench is thin. Not a huge fan of Coulter-Nile’s, I think he leaks a lot of runs and he bats lower down the order, hence why, despite a greater price, I am leaning towards Watson. Are there any other players around NCN price that you could recommend??

        0

        0
        1. Also because adding in Coulter-Nile would mean that I have three Scorchers bowlers (Willey, Behrendorff, NCN) and even though they have the DGW, I’m not too sold on that structure…

          0

          0
        2. I think B Laughlin and D Sams are the best picks in the 120,000 to 140,000 price range or S O’Keefe, C Ingram or M Wade from the 100,000 to 120,000 price range.

          2

          0
          1. Perfect!

After a few tweaks, team is as follows:

Bravo, Lynn, Denly, McCullum, Wade, (Ludeman, Inglis)
            Buttler, (Dunk)
Khan, Willey, Coulter-Nile, Ur Rahman, Henriques, (Lamichhane, J. Edwards)

Improved the benches now, only big question mark for mine now is Wade. Would love to get Watto back in, but need to find another 32k from somewhere….

            Thanks heaps for your help

            1

            0
            1. You could drop Inglis to Phillipe freeing up 20,000 of your required 32,000 and the remaining 12,000 could be gathered by trading Denly to Arhcer allowing Watson to come back in and Denly would be able to be traded in for Lynn in rd2.

              2

              0
  18. Hi Adam thanks for your help does your bench come in if someone does not play do you need to put emergency on them or is it just for juggling your squad from round to round sorry may seem simple but a newby to the whole thing emery Xmas to all

    1

    0
    1. Yes they do cover if someone doesn’t play but the lowest score is taken as it is an automatic emergency. The reason why I have continually stressed the importance of bench depth is

      A. Generate cash to help fund trades and means you are not heavily reliant on trading in and out DGW players to generate money

      B. Makes trading a lot of easier plus providing sufficient cover if you are unable to get your desired players or any late withdrawals/weather conditions/international commitments etc or trades incompleted due to the time constraints

      C. Allows you to keep several players during their Bye while strengthening the rest of your team (eg start Henriques on the bowling bench and bring him on for RD3 for his double whilst pushing R Khan to the bench for his bye in RD3 instead of trading him which will allow you to target the upcoming DGW players without having to worry about bringing the player back in the next week)

      D. Also helps if you are continually switching DPP’s or trading using DPP’s due to the aforementioned reasons above.

      4

  19. Considering going all out on the double game weeks especially with the Scorchers having such a stacked team.

Bat: Lynn, Agar, Denly, McCullum, Klinger (Bryant, Ingram)

    WK: Wade (Peirson)

Bowl: Khan, MMarsh, Archer, NCN, Cartwright (Lamishane, Edwards)

    0

    0
    1. But the problem with the Scorchers having a stacked team primarily in the bowling department is the adverse effect it has on the batsmen if the bowlers get a team out cheaply which leaves them a low score to chase thus less points which will affect the likes of Cartwright, Klinger, Marsh, Agar, etc. Also it will require a lot of planning to efficiently manage the other upcoming rounds ensuring a solid on field lineup.

      Therefore an option could be
      Out: Pierson, Agar, Cartwright, Bryant,
In: Ludeman, Behrendorff, Ur Rahman, Henriques

  20. Hi all,

Thanks for some of the help yesterday. Currently my team looks like:

Bravo, Lynn, Denly, McCullum, Wade, (Ludeman, Phillipe)
    Buttler, (Dunk)
Khan, Willey, Coulter-Nile, Ur Rahman, Henriques, (Lamichhane, J. Edwards)

    Cash left: 50k

Not sold on Wade at all, Coulter-Nile I have question marks over as well. Would love to get Watson or a Maxwell/Archer type in to the team, had Harvey and Merlo (both 42k) in as well and a recent Herald Sun article suggests that they will both be seeing reasonable amounts of game time. Is anyone going with these two??

    Thanks in advance

    1. Wade is in form and therefore be a more popular selection and more likely to get points from catches being the keeper. McDermott is still a very decent batsman if u want a less popular option. Im waiting till rd3 to trade carey to one of them for their double so ill get a couple rounds to look at them at least. Id lean towards wade if u wanna start with one but really depends who u like cause both could do well

    1. Coulter Nile from B followed closely by Sams and Faulkner. Botha from A but i might be a bit biased as he is one of my favourite players in the competition. He’s a great fielder and an economical bowler but his opportunities with the bat will decrease with his new team.

  25. My approach is pretty obvious….

Lynn, Agar, Coulter-Nile, McCullum, Klinger, (Lehman) (Phillipe)
    Carey (Ludeman)
Tye, Willey, Cutting, Behendorf, Swepson, (Lamichhane) (J. Edwards)

    $13,800 left over.

Not at all sure on the best cows/bench. Prefer to stick to players from the 6rs, Thunder, Hurricanes, and Adelaide, but not locked into that.

    1. An unorthodox strategy which should net you an advantage for RD1 but could potentially disadvantage you for upcoming rounds due to the 6 scorchers as you will not be able to capitalise on the other DGW in RD2-3/etc.

      An option could be
      Out: B Cutting, M Swepson, A Agar, A Carey
      In: M Nabi, M Ur Rahman, R Khan/J Denly/J Archer, J Buttler

      1

      0
      1. Thanks Adam!

I’m not clear why I would want to bring in M. Nabi, since he is a Renegade and does not get a DGW for a long time….?

        1

        0
        1. All rounder who bowls 4 overs and bats in the top 6. Is very economical which means he will normally get an economy rate bonus as well as having a high dot ball percentage.

He only played 7 games last season but is here for the full tournament this season and will benefit from Finch and Harris being on international duties as well as the other injuries for the Renegades in conjunction with Hodge’s retirement and M Short moving to the Strikers.

He scored less than 50SC points in 2/7 games last year which both occurred when he didn’t ball 4 overs and the only one under 30 occurred in the 1 match he didn’t take a wicket. Also he had limited opportunities with the bat last season only making around 80-90 runs from 3 innings. When he batted last season he averaged 105 Sc points (low of 74 and a high of 125,2/3 100+).

Also should be a POD due to majority of teams starting R Khan/D Short/J Denly/ J Archer due to their early doubles and will be a season long hold as they don’t have a bye until RD13.

    1. Very hard to split as both are seasoned and astute veterans in the format who will likely both figure in the top 5-10 averages due to their game being so supercoach friendly. Would start Nabi and aim to bring in Bravo between RD4-RD7 which will coincide when Maxwell, Stoinis, Zampa will likely leave for international duties (ODI’S) in mid January.

    1. Bravo as Stoinis has recently suffered an injury which I think will limit him to just batting which will greatly diminish his value.

  27. Alright here we go with draft #1:

Lynn, Willey (C), Coulter-Nile, McCullum, Ingram (Ludeman, Phillipe)
    Wade (Dunk)
Tye, Khan, Neser, Cutting, Behrendorf (Henriques, J.Edwards)

Not sold on Neser but like his double game week in Rd 2.

    1. Great selections on field and on the bench and I love the captaincy selection of D Willey as I’m looking to do the same.

      Only improvements could be:
      Out: M Neser, B Cutting
In: J Denly (via NCN), M Ur Rahman
      if funds permit.

      1. I had Denley but was worried he might not bowl as much as advertised. I need to read up on Ur Rahman, I know nothing about him!

        1. The Sixers played the Thunder in a trial match last night and Denly took 3 wickets and made around a dozen runs. Both teams were near full strength.

Ur Rahman is a 17 yr old Afghani spinner who has taken 49 wickets from 46 matches with an economy rate of 6.91 and he took 14 wickets from 11 matches in the IPL this season.

Mujeeb played on the weekend for a local QLD club against C Lynn and he finished with figures of 1/16 (Lynn LBW) from 4 overs with 8 wides.

Also in the recent 10 over competition in the UAE he has taken 6 wickets for 151 runs in 16 overs.

  28. Hey Guys,

I am also entering the BBL super coach comp for the first time this year. I have been reading people’s picks and have incorporated them into my team, however I have a couple unique picks that I haven’t seen people include. Just wondering if they are ok or a serious blunder. My team is as follows:

    Batsmen:
    J Root, J Denly, J Burns, B McCullum, C Ingram (Bench: C Ferguson, J Sangha)

    Keeper:
    J Buttler (Bench: T Ludeman)

    Bowlers:
    R Khan (vc), D Willey (c), N Coulter-Nile, J Richardson, J Pattinson (Bench: M Henriques, S Lamichhane)

    Cash Leftover: $72,700

My decision to go with Burns is banking on a Lynn failure and Burn’s consistency will net me more points even though he bats lower down the order, in addition due to the double bye I am hoping that may drive down the price of heat players going forward. Is my logic sound or is this a blunder, again first time playing so not sure.

I am hoping Root plays well to keep for long term/when he is needed for international duties. I am concerned I may have a few to many Thunder players this early on.

I have Ingram in conjunction with Khan from the strikers which will flow well into next round since they have the double header. I can rotate heat/scorcher players out for a couple more strikers next round if needed. Also have a couple of Sixers for round 3, although that isn’t the most pressing issue.

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks guys.

  29. Hey everyone,
Warning that there is likely rain/thunderstorms for the heat canes match on the gold coast. Could really throw a spanner in the works.

    1. Same as I have. Worst case you still get one match from them. And all but Lynn are cheap. Considering of there is a 6er I’d rather have the Ur Rahman….

      1. Sorry, Thunder in place of Ur Rahman. Worry the Canes and 6ers could be all the way rained out. Doesn’t seem likely but would I feel dumb with < 11 players.

  30. Geez this is a harder than SC AFL, so many things to consider and is very different to AFL SC I feel…..anyways i have come up with this team which I am quietly happy with, but I would really appreciate for some feedback / thoughts on this team….

    BATSMEN:
    D Short, C Lynn, M Nabi, M Klinger, M Bryant (M Henriques, B Dunk)

    WICKETKEEPERS:
    J Butler (T Ludeman)

    BOWLERS:
    R Khan, D Willey (C), D Sams, J Behrendorff, M Ur Rahman (S Lamichhane, J Edwards)

    Salary Remaining: $3,200

My thoughts on some of the players I have selected above,

M Klinger (still a ? if he is fit to play or NOT – can anybody shed some light into his fitness and if he is going to play?)

D Short – he was the best batsmen in last years tournament, correct if I am wrong – even though he is slightly out of form, I have picked him purely because of his potential to go big again in this tournament – well this could backfire big time though……

D Sams – have got no idea about this player, however based on couple of comments I have read in this thread I personally feel he could be a good POD…

Batting is slightly week, however I am planning to move C Lynn, M Ur Rahman after RD 1…..will work out a plan for who to bring in after RD 1, hopefully I can figure something out before RD 2….

I am not so sure about the salary remaining – which seems very low, so I was thinking to swap J Butler to M Wade? what do you guys think ?

    Cheers,
    Raj
