  1. An option for your remaining trades could be:

    Rd18:
Out: G Logue and B Bewley
In: K Dunkley (via N Answerth) and I Hill (GWS fwd/mid)

Then at some stage the last 2 trades can be used to trade
    Out: D Clarke, ?
In: M Gawn (via W Setterfield and S Lycett), ?

? to ? free up the necessary 0 to 70,000 for M Gawn.

Will leave you with N Answerth as def cover, Setterfield covering the mids and Worpel covering the fwds/mids at F7 with Lycett for ruck cover.

Grabbing a fwd/mid dpp like I Hill allows B Crouch to be looped with J Worpel at M8 or Lycett and Worpel to be looped at F6.

    1. But a problem with my suggestion is it takes all 4 of your trades to get Gawn but you don’t have to sacrifice the likes of B Crouch, J Worpel, S Lycett, etc to execute it.

      1. I like the first trade Adam, if Logue doesnt play then thats some handy cash and still covers emergencies!

        1. I think using the reamining trades for it will be too risky come resting period/finals. Id still be happy to sacrifice worpel for gawn in the long run and the logue trade should provide just enough for that after the next round when Gawn drops more. I like your way of thinking for the dpp cover though!

  2. Thanks for putting it up schwarz, your a champion!
Argh its nerve racking that havent been able to get it quite right.
To think ive traded out Gawn, Cripps, Hurn, Whitfield, Kelly (2 weeks after getting him). Has been a lot of dumb luck contributed till now. But those sacrifices avoided several donuts as well!

  4. What about just holding your trades for this week at least. Gawns BE is high.

Sorry Adam I have to disagree with you on your above suggestion.

If I had only 4 trades left, I wouldn’t be using half of them on downgrades. One maybe?, both would be excess cover anyway and a complete waste of trades in my book.

If you really believe Gawn will out score Lycett by a considerable margin from here on in. I would consider downgrading Logue ( via Answerth) to Hill on the bubble next week and then trading Lycett straight to Gawn. this would give you M/F dpp, cover on all lines bar Ruck and two precious trades to use for the injuries that “will” happen.

Father Dougal had a great quote earlier in the year. ” Sometimes it’s better just to do nothing and wait for the best opportunity to present itself.”

What if Menegola comes back in and kills it? You can then sideways Worpel.

Keeping trades just gives you options.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

    1. Don’t like the idea of trading Lycett as he will be pivotal if an injury occurs to Grundy or Gawn and would be a great opportunity to capitalise on.

Regarding using 2 of the 4 trades on downgrades I’m surprised how they could be classified as a waste since getting rid of non playing rookies for playing rookies will provide more cover once tradeless if multiple injuries on 1 line occur. Also reduces the possibility of a donut or multiple donuts due to an increase in playing rookies and dpp switches.

      1. I hear you Adam.

I just feel in this instance “going for overall” Having to rely on cover as you have used all your trades as opposed to having a trade in hand is more beneficial.

Eg Fyfe goes down.. No trades means you are relying on cover at say 70 points. Having a trade means you can move him on for the Bont or Treloar and still have a chance at 120+ scores. Hopefully keeping pace with those ahead of you.

I’m also unsure if K.Dunkley and Bobby Hill have better JS than Logue or even Bewley ,who could both be recalled after Freo’s terrible run of form in recent weeks.

I guess there’s a heap of ways to approach this great game. 🙂

  5. Sorry to promote another SC site but E=mchammer SuperCoach scores have a thread regarding the top 20 teams for this round with all the squads provided and the ownership of the players currently in the top 20. This potentially could be interesting and beneficial in helping to execute a plan for your remaining trades.

        1. Not normally big on promoting other sites, but that’s some handy information that could prove vital to a Top5 or 10 finish to our Coaches (Jezzz and Chris also)……..
Best of luck to all three of you! If there’s anything you need to see here, feel free to ask. We’re here to help…..

  6. Was in your situation last year was ranked 16 at the time you gotta hold on tight to them trades as there are still 6 rounds left wouldn’t be using any Lux trades yet. Long term injuries could bite you in the ass

    1. Thanks Nateo, same also, was running well a few years ago and got burnt hard by lack of trades into finals and finished outside top 100. Lesson learnt (hopefully)

  7. If you’re ranked #10, I’m not sure how much us mere mortals will be able to help, but I basically agree with both of the sentiments expressed above: Gawn would be good to get in, but it would also be good to keep trades in hand for when injuries happen. I also agree with Adam that I wouldn’t want to get rid of Lycett in order to bring in Gawn – having ruck cover could be huge at this time of year.

  8. There seems to be a good chance that one of Logue/Bewley will get a recall, and maybe both. …extra cash generation.
If Gawn is the main priority, and the pts difference is 24ppg at the moment, it must be this week when you look at the projected price movements over the next three weeks. So that looks to be the decision for this week.
You would only need an extra $27.1k to do it, available from any downgrade to I Hill depending on who is selected. So the questions really is, is that double trade worth a possible extra 25ppg * 6 rounds, 150 pts. Also, it looks like Gawn will continue to be the lone ruck at Dees….will Lycett at Port ?

  9. I don’t particularly like the option of grabbing Gawn this week due to his astronomical breakeven but an option you could entertain assuming teams from last week are maintained for your current squad is:

Out: G Logue and B Crouch
In: M Gawn (via N Answerth , via J Worpel, via S Lycett) and I Hill

Would leave 2 trades, approx 30,000 left and Gawn this round whilst opening up a fwd/mid dpp cover through the use of W Setterfield (F7), I Hill (M11) and J Worpel (M8).

Remaining trades to be saved and prioritised for a possible def/ruck injury.
