  2. Am keeping an eye out on Edwards for Richmond, not normally a huge scorer but had couple of massive games in NAB cup and looks like hes at it again (so far)

  3. 1003/10

Had Kreuzer, Gibbs, Martin and Newman play tonight, joining Griffin, Mundy, Fyfe, Cox, Heppell and Goddard from last week. Averaging 100 per player at this stage, would like a bit more, but not a terrible score. Very pleased with Gibbs and Kreuzers games. Martin quiet in the second. Took a punt on Newman, disappointed but will hold onto him for another week at least. Still got my VC loophole, going to try it on JPK.

  4. 968/10/Ablett

Very happy with my two late inclusions of Deledio 116 and Maric 112. I got what I expected from Martin 85, and did anyone CAPTAIN GIBBS 150!!!!

About time things are going right after Dangerlessfield last week.

  5. 672 / 7 / JPK

Dangerfield, Heppell (still don’t know how he only managed 73), Goddard and Cox last week.
Cotch, Martin and Gibbs tonight which was a bit better.
A lot of rookies to come though…

  6. 665/7/JPK

Solid enough I guess and while I’ve still got guns to come I haven’t had one rookie play yet so, unlike plenty of Tiger supporters in the next week, I’ll keep my powder dry for now.

Think Currie not getting named might have done me a big favour. Forced me to abandon the Leuenberger plan and restructure to bring in the Mighty Mullet. Looked really good tonight and could have gone a lot bigger than 112.

Gibbsy! 150 oughta put a smile on our collective faces. Deledio did well with 116, and Martin nearly made his SC Gold projection with 85. After the carnage of ;last weekend, very happy with this game.

  8. I thought Martin played well tonight. He was a little quiet in the third qtr but I suspect he spent much of the quarter up forward. Maybe they are managing his load to run out games? Anyway I was pleased that he looked interested for the entire game and continued to make contests when possible.

Only a couple of calls left to make now, the most important involves the rucks:

    – Park Leuenberger on the pine for Blicavs Rd1 OR trade for Zac Smith OR find coin for Goldstein?

  10. 746/7/Pendles ….Gibbs Cotchin and the Kruze pulled me out of the mire from last week, got a heap of mid tier players in the middle that I want to step up on the weekend, expect that either Sydney or Brisbane lions to be on top of the ladder by rounds end.

  13. Was up doing some last minute changes to my team due to certain rookies possibly not being selected. Have question marks over Terlich, Kane Mitchell, Stevens and Dwyer (he’s only a bench player though). Got rid of Colquhoun by popping Goodes back into the back line and dumping Terlich on the bench. Brought in Stevens, but could revert him back to Toumpas. With Neade being named I dropped Spangher. If Kane Mitchell gets the boot I’ll change him to Wines. Very glad I kept some money up my sleeve with the rolling lockouts for round one, has allowed me to fine tune without compromising my premo’s.

    Team as it stands
Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Goodes, Pittard, Stevenson (*E -L.Brown, *E -Terlich)
Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Cotchin, Stevens, K.Mitchell, Viney, O’Meara (Vlastuin, Crouch)
Maric, Jacobs (Blicavs, Daw) -least with both rucks having played I know I don’t need my emergencies
Franklin, Cox, Zorko, Bartel, Karnezis, Macaffer (*E -Neade, *E- Dwyer)
    $104k left

Thinking of a last-minute Captaincy change. Someone talk me out of it..

Currently have Ablett, thumbs up keep him..
    Thumbs down change to Swannie..

  14. 817 / 8 / GAJ

Gibbs turned things around big time for my team. Just need to get off to a godo start this season. Was 65,000th or something last year after round two before ending up top 2000ish. Sidenote – currently top 500 in A-League fantasy 🙂

Keen to see finalised Sunday teams later today. Lots of rookies floating around on extended benches that need to cement their spot by offering a few hot cross buns to their coaches for brekkie this morning.

  15. 766/8/Swan (although tempted to promote JPK)

Had Gibbs and Cotchin last night. Very tidy.
Goddard and Danger let me down last week.
Looking forward to seeing if having three Lions in my side will pay off.
    Come on rookies!

  16. 514/5/ablett. Dangerfield has let me down. Goddard didn’t help much either. Thank God for Gibbs. No rookies have played yet, so I am expecting more trouble.

  19. In my backline:

    Hanley, thumbs up

    or

    Hartlett, thumbs down.

I already have 3 other Lions players: Zorko, Rocky, Karnezis

If I add Hanley, would 4 Lions be too many?

    Thoughts welcomed

  20. 501/5/GAJ …. Unless I have a last minute change of heart.

Gibbs 150, brings things back to parity after Goddard & Heppell underwhelmed, and, Massive & Fyfe gave two reasonable scores.
Hopefully things continue to improve for me and the pies can get the chocolates on sunday.

  22. Hey guys just wondering who would be the better pick out of Redden and Rich
Rich saves me 70k but money is not a real factor, just means more left for the first trades. I only around 550k which is why I’d go Redden.

    PLEASE HELP

  23. Massive dilemma so would appreciate some advice.

    T/U – Swan and B Hill / K Mitchell
    T/D – Jelwood and O Wines / K Stevens

Would love to fit Swan in alongside Ablett and Pendles already, but worried about Hill’s JS and Mitchell’s output re: efficiency.

Is the T/D a safer option?

  24. Is Mitchell worth picking or possibly spend the extra 60k and get Kobe Stevens??

    Stevens – thumbs up

    Mitchell – thumbs down

  25. Final decision I need to make is what to do with leuey. I’ve only got two options available:

Thumbs up- keep leuey, play blicavs this week in the hope leuey comes back next week

Thumbs down- swap leuey for longer and then waste a trade when leuey comes back which, if I do this option, hopefully isn’t next week.

    Big call

  26. 1020/9/jpk captain
Very solid start hoping for around 2200 this weekend
Which will be a great start. I figured JPK is a lock as captaib for me as he had ripping form in the pre season and should keep that going

  28. Confused as to what to do with my backline? Is there any decent rookies? Thus far I have:

Goddard, Gibbs, Goodes, Pittard, Stevenson, Frost (Vlastuin, Terlich)

Would really like to trade Frost/Terlich for someone that’s playing Round 1 if possible.. are there any other decent option out there? Any help much appreciated – thanks guys.

  32. 1034/11/Gazza… still tempted to pop the gold vest over Swan..
Stepping away from the edge…. 😀

Only one I really feel let down by so far is Zorko. Maybe also choosing Karnezis over Siposs. I must be stupid! But still a risk that I chose to do and can only blame myself.. I wish I had learnt from last year that preseason form is not the be all and end all, (2012 Deledio anyone?)

Depending how bad his hammy is, Stevens might become Toumpas (who I had until yesterday. Psyched myself out with having both Viney and Toumpas).

Two great scores from Rockliff 122 & B Goodes 113. Karnezis 60 was bad enough, but Zorko’s 64 wasn’t appreciated too much at my end. I might trade him out depending on how much he is likely to drop in value with a view to bringing him back when he is cheaper.
Mummy, Hanneberry, JPK, Gary & the Jaegerbomb on debut.
Here’s hoping Gary goes nuts tonight.

    Now

Think that 2150 is a realistic aim with the following to play:

    Stevenson

    Swan, Pendlebury, Wines, Mitchell

    Franklin, Bartel, Watts, Varcoe

Can’t believe I pulled JPK for Dangerfield at the last minute. Shocking call. PK looked lost yesterday as well, but so did most of the Lions.

Pittard, Stevenson, Wines, Swan and Pendlebury to come.

Happy with Sumner (82) as a nice POD cheapie ($217k).

This is why I hate how early SC is available to the public each year because come R1 it seems you’ve had every POD possible in your team at some stage, and, of course, the ones that have blinders in R1 sadly didn’t make the final cut because you’re too afraid the gamble won’t come off. My gut instinct seems to always come back and laugh at me in the face when it comes to the game of Supercoach (e.g. Mayne [120], Pearce [130], Barlow [144], Walker [137], Liberatore [130], and, to top it off last night, Geary pulls out an amazing 144. All of these PODs were in my team at some stage of the pre season! #gearsaregrinding)

Great coaching night, JPK 147, Mummy 116 & Hannebery 85 got things going great guns before Jaeger & Gary brought home the fireworks.
Have Pittard, K. Mitchell, Viney, Macaffer, Heater & Pendles in play today, so it’ll be a bit of a challenge, but have Varcoe and big Buddy to finish up tomorrow.
Then it’ll be time to consider Zorko’s future. Barring injury I am strongly considering selling him this week whilst he has value and bringing him back after his price drops (hopefully a lot). If it fits, am thinking of turning him & Hannebery into Swanlow & Watts, although I like Hanna as a pod.
Finally, the mighty pies play today and I can gather with my other thieving, drug-addled, centrelink receiving, housing commission living Collingwood supporters and scream at the top of my lungs GOOOOO PIES!!!!!!

Really happy with my coaching efforts thus far but most of my guns have played. Even with conservative estimates I should be happy come Monday night. If the Por rookies have a day out then it could be a spectacular round 1.

T/D – Hold him (I have no doubt that he’ll get at least a debut this season)

does anyone know the highest supercoach score for a first game rookie?

surely there wouldnt be too many 120+ scores for a first gamer?

  73. I traded out Hartlett and M.Jones for Dwyer and Birchall this morning. Unfortunately, I wasn’t on to check the Port v Melbourne subs so K.Mitchell played on field.

Hartlett scored very well, so perhaps I made a mistake trading him out; time will tell.

1960/19/GAJ. Birchall, Bartel and Blicavs yet to come.

I think we know the clear runners for the rising star after that effort from Wines & Viney. Best Debuts Ive seen i think.

  76. First year playing Supercoach, but I’ve joined a few mates league and I don’t really know what a good score is.

I’m spewing that I left Vlastuin, but I’ve got 2044 from 19, got Swan, Macaffer and Bartel to go. Is 2000 a solid score?

  79. Thankyou to all for the thumbs up on Wines over K Mitchell, well worth the extra coin. Thank god for certain rookies and Ablett this week. Some poor performances from the premiums. Chose Zorko over Rockcliff, and then there is Le Cras and Nick Lower to deal with. Hmmm where to begin!

  80. Hi all – want to gauge how I’m travelling this week, reckon I’m in for a good result even though I captained massive which was a bad call in hindsight.

18/2037 with peddles, macaffer, bartel and roughie to come. 2500 out of the question?

  82. Have been devo’d for last 24 hours that I swapped out ablett for Maloney at last minute to free up cash. However, looks like having peddles as captain might ease my pain 🙂 I also decided to go koby Stevens instead of ollie wines which may be my first trade for 2013.

  83. well looks like in the swan vs pendlebury battle, round one goes to pendles on a points decision.

Macaffer in F6 will need to be an early upgrade requirement as he will not be a big points scorer. If only there was some other options, I’m looking at you guys Mayes and Daniher.

2020/20/jpk with only blicavs and varcoe so maybe 2150.

    cheers

  84. Got no Hawks and Cats on the ground so ive finished up with 2237/JPK not to bad for round one and considering how some of my players went I was surprised to even get that high.

Very happy with: JPK, Mundy, Pendles, Gibbs, Griffin, Kreuzer, Goodes, Viney, Pittard, Rockliff

Disappointed with: Watts, Newman, Cox, Goddard, Heppell, Zorko, Karnezis, No GAJ, Mitchell (didn’t know he was sub and had him on field)

Rest of the team scored around what I expected or just slightly below. Going to stay put and not trade this week, I choose the players I did for a reason so I’m not going to get rid of them after just one ordinary game, hopefully next week is a better one.

Going to be a long season…

Franklin – Bartel – Varcoe to come. Hoping for at least 219 from the lot and a 2300+ week to begin the season. Few bench selection issues left points on the pine and Karnezis and Watts are on the edge

Happy considering De Boer (48), Zorko (64), Martin (61) and Karnezis (60) were disappointments. O’Meara on the field over Viney didn’t turn out so well, but can’t really complain otherwise.

Will be nice to kick back and watch Hawks smash the Cats tomorrow with my SC round now completed.

Can’t wait to commence league games!

  90. So far i’ve had 10 players score less than 65, can anybody else beat this? my offenders are Dangerfield, Ryder, Shuey, Newman, Zorko, Karnezis, Koby Stevens, Watts, Toumpas and Neade.

  91. 2095/20/JPK

Not too bad considering I’m carrying Watts and McCafe, and kept Wines on the bench for Kobi. Changed Watts to Grimes this morning, then changed him back again. FFS. Watts will get one more chance next week. And seems I’m there abouts even without the little champ. Although JPK and Pendles were admirable substitutes.

Hoping to crack the 2300 with big games from Joelwood and Bartel in a losing Cats side tomorrow 😆

    Roughead/Bartel & Bilcavs to play…hoping for 250 from these 3, to break 2300 for R1.

Awesome efforts by Gaz, JPK, Pendles & Gibbs all going huge in R1….& super rookie efforts by Wines/Viney & Goodes all doing fantastic! Although on the pine, I’m happy with Pittard/O`Meara/M Jones & Neade as bench cover…. but Pittard may get a gig in R2 in front of Stevenson!!!

    Need a lift in R2 from………… Dangers/Zorko/Heppell/Karnezis & Macaffer!

  96. 2034/19/GAJ

The Good: Ablett’s domination of the Saints in the final quarter (178pts) just confirms his superstar & permacaptain status, Malthouse finally unleashes Gibbs into the midfield with massive results (150pts), Eagle’s Josh Kennedy was a risky FWD pick that came up trumps (109pts) & Viney was a rookie revelation (117pts) in an otherwise poor Melbourne side.

The Bad: Expected Dyson Heppell to hit big SC numbers with 23 possies but his disposal efficiency was woeful (73pts), Can’t ask too much from L.Stevenson (66pts) & Macaffer was disappointing today (44pts) but will keep him for now knowing he’s capable of hitting consistent high SC scores (2010 avg 82.1pts)

The Ugly: Took a major punt by making Leuenberger my 2nd ruck & changing him to his understudy Billy Longer (55pts) instead of giving a nod to the untried Blivas. Was hoping he could bring some that NAB cup winning form as Lion’s lone ruck at a bargain bin price…. but alas no *wipes tear*

Have Buddy, Bartel & Selwood to come. Fingers crossed Blivas impresses all us supercoaches & Coach Scott…..would be nice to have a regular playing 3rd ruckmen on the bench 🙂

  101. Real life got in the way of my team selections today 🙁
Would have put Wines in for Mitchell had I known he was the sub and had Internet where I was. I’m really annoyed about that but nothing I could have done 🙁 might have to be my first trade to rectify early! Should probably wait until just before round three, yeah?

I’m sure I heard something briefly on the radio on my way out, about GAJ’s disposals in the first quarter only having 38% efficiency? Watching the replay I realise he did have 11 or 12 of them though! Glad I turned it off and when I looked later it was a pleasant surprise. If bittersweet being against my side.

    2091/20/Gary.
Have Buddy & Bartel to follow tomorrow.
    Don’t think I’ll make HGL’s ‘pass mark’ :/

  104. 2166/19/Swan

Selwood, Bartel and Duncan to come who can hopefully push me up to 2500. A little disappointed I lost 100 points by not captaining Ablett and starting Jones over Viney (2 50/50’s that went the wrong way). Very happy with my team though.

  105. 2141/21/GOD+Buddy left.

The Great: Gary Ablett Junior! Gibbs, B Goodes, Viney, Pittard and Wines!

The Good: Deledio, Maric, Fyfe, Cox Lecras(had to mention him after 91 of 3/4), Heath (late inclusion on my bench), O’meara

Pass…For Now: Goddard, Heppal, Karnezies, Martin.

On The Block: after just one round I find it very unlikely ill trade. BUT! The people I would consider are Watts, Dangerfield, Lecras(only due to injury), Zorko and Stevens(if injured)

Pretty happy with everyone’s efforts. Time will tell if my decision to pick deledio over Kennedy will pay off. Although if danger has another bad one it’ll be Danger to Kennedy/Pendles/Swan. Same with Zorko, could easily become Rockliff.

  106. 2089/19/GAJ.

Varcoe, Bartel & Franklin to come.

My four starting rookies in defence paid dividends in Round 1:
    Goodes 113, Pittard 93, Heath 70, Stevenson 66

Meant I avoided having either of Macaffer or Neade starting on the ground.

Goldstein may prove to be a brilliant POD (6.4% of teams) with 121. Glad I snagged him at such a bargain price! Let’s just hope Scott continues with the sole ruckman!

Buddy and Varcoe to come. Hopefully push 2300+.

Robinson getting knocked out hurt a lot (20), Petrie getting beat, Newman, Houli and Karnezis disappointing – altho when you take too many risks, it can come back and bite you.

Great job to GAJ, Mundy, Kreuz, Gibbs, Goodes, Mummy, Viney, Wines, Swan!!

Hawks have their best chance for a couple of years, but then I’ve thought that before, so we’ll see what the Mighty Cats can do.
