Round 6 Post Mortem

Written by Duck on May 1 2011

That’s 3 weeks worth of byes out of the way and we’ll all be ready to get back into our league games from this week onwards. What’s the lay of the land with you and your boys after the round?

  1. It’s a little premmie but I already know what my score is………….CRAP!!!!!!!!. Thank god this wasn’t a H2H round. Final score will be lucky to hit 1800. I am sitting on 1495 with Pendles, Krak, Boyd and Libba to go. I banked Massive on the VC then went to watch my Dons have a training run at Etihad at midday.

Well i was expecting a poor round but i always held hope of making the 2k’s. Can’t remember the last time i was under 2000 but at least most are in the same boat. Some big decisions over the next few weeks!!

  3. 2 doughnuts and only 5 players to break the tonne.
Ditched Krakouer and whats he do? 119.
I would have to be the worst trader in the history of supercoach.

  4. 1827, Worst score ever in 3 years of playing Supercoach and I can only blame myself. Will be trading out deadwood within the next 4 weeks along with milking some cows once downgrade options appear (Thompson why didn’t I get you ).

  5. 1955 with no donuts so slightly upset.

Will drop from my overall of 5119.

Am thinking Duigan and another player out (from either mids or backs)——— Duffield and Hibberd

On a lighter note i am in the semi’s for my Knock-out bye comp

  6. 1879 – the best thing about that round is that its now over.

    A few observations:
    1) So happy with myself for resisting the temptation to ship Krakouer off.
    2) Have also given myself a sprained shoulder from patting myself on the back so much after drafting L Thompson into the side.
    3) Cox’s 131 was the Maulers’ highest individual score for the round – great decision leaving him as Captain.
    4) McGlynn finally stood up
    5) Goddard could spend the game getting a calf massage and still score 100.
    6) Chris Knights – thank-you.

We all know the boys that have let us all down, but I’m staying positive in this post coz I just won a greenback on the punt and I’m feeling great!

Very happy with the timing of my Duigan > L Thompson trade and that I didn’t pull the trigger on Krakouer > J Reiwoldt.

I don’t get it. I worked my score out on calculator and i got 2027. Did gaff get the points for j.selwood instead of pendlebury because i had gaff and pendlebury both emergencies????? Someone please help im worried right now! :S

As with motts, happy that I did not trade out Krakouer or Knights but instead chose to upgrade Richardson to JRoo. Cox’s 131 was an ideal vc choice. Slightly disappointed that I chose to go Hibberd over Thompson but may get him in this week for Duigan.

Bring on the league head to head games next week. The Bender Rovers face a couple of tough matches but am confident with the form they’ve shown throughout the bye rounds.

  11. 1888. ! Donut (Missy)

Heads will need to roll this week (I’m looking at you Duigan/Gibbs) but will go in feeling confidant as all of the premiums that were on the bench will come back in and they had better smash it and the others that played this week (Goodes/N Roo) or I may need to buy another monitor. Also have sore shoulder as Otten provided me with Thompson and Richardson gave me J Roo. Was the only good thing about this round.

  12. 2027/Swan

A little dissapointed to drop below 2100 for the first time, but in the context of the round, I’ll take it! Lost 23 points on mysterious Massive loophole stuff-up, but no biggie.

Positives: L.Thompson – GUN! (in for Otten), Goldstein, Massive, WoodKrak (buys himself at least 2 more weeks), Lids, Darling, GC boys.

Negatives: Goodesy, Roo, Bee Gees, Jack, Swan (only cos I put the big C on him)

    In the gun: Doi-gan

    Gooonnnne: Ward (helllloooo, Chappy!)

Looking forward to resuming hostilities in the LoEC this week!

  14. 2060, n.reiwoltd needs to lift or his getting the a$$, bachelor and matera played like k hunt and it hurt, can’t wait to have ky full team next week, hopefully didn’t fall too far out of top 2000

  15. Lake and hodge great upgrade targets in 2-3 weeks time motts, they’ll come good second half of the year, they have too!

  16. 1973.
I knew there was a reason I kept Krakouer!
*Note: a few under-performing premiums to keep an eye on in the coming weeks, whose prices will reach tastily low levels… Lake and Didak to name a few.

  17. 1737 with one doughnut. A horrible, horrible score.

duigan, gibbs, atley, goodes, z.smith, n. reiwoldt, tapsoctt and matera all totally killed my score.

so, so glad it’s not a league week.

  18. 1932, which will drop my average to 2170 so pissed off, good points for the week are-

Thompson trade in for Otten, could have waited longer for Otten to go up but cant complain too much as Thomo is going to be a nice cash cow.

Yarran into J Riewoldt couldnt resist.

Getting all the guns back on the field next week I’m over these multi bye rounds, over the next 4-6 weeks I will cash in some cash cows to make a hard charge after the next multi bye rounds.

On the betting side lost my 5 leg multi because the Dons won by too much so I cracked it and plonked all I had left in my betting account on the Pies just to win, so $300 at $1.13 equals $39 profit I’ll take that.

  19. 2010 – just have to hope everyone else did as bad! Will definitely send me out of the top 500 though 🙁
Riewoldt and Gibbs have got to go, unless Gibbs starts to get a run in the midfield!

  20. 1989 … thought i had a shocker but it seems everybody else is in the same boat .. will keep patient over trading out nick roo, adam goodes and gibbs, not doing great now but will be surprised if they are not in the top 7 forwards and defenders respectively at the end of the year ..
    better weeks lie ahead

  21. Worst result ever, had Grundy, Lower, Broughton, Enright, Selwood, Pavlich, Sandi, Johnson, Heppell, Rioli and Higgins on the pine though.

  22. How can Goodes’ B/E be 186?! (Or did you mean -186…can’t be that!). His last three scores are 47, 100 & 133. They don’t count the BYE rounds, (week off donut), as a score do they??

  23. Scored 2016, which is better then poke in the eye with a pointy stick.

I’m really happy with my trade decisions over the past two weeks:

    1. I traded out krackouer last week and decided some other dung pile (who I am too embariised to even mention by name) was a better choice than JRoo. So I missed out on JRoo’s 136 + 109

    2. I got rid of Otten but decided against L Thompson as I was worried about his Job Security with Phil Davis and Mark Stevens coming back soon. And then Davis goes off with a serious shoulder injury…and L Thompson pulls a 126 from some dark area between his legs…

    3. Got rif of Foley two weeks ago only to watch him collect 108 + 143

I warn you all I’m thinking of trading Duigan this week…

  24. 1803. (From 21)
My lowest score for the last two seaons. My team is going for the league win so doesn’t really matter (Duffman, Broughton, Lower, Selwood, Duncan, Sandilands, Pavlich and Franklin missing) but still not too happy. With all the hype surrounding getting rid of Krakouer (they even had a whole article dedicated to trading him in the HS on Friday), I decided to stay with him, however I didn’t believe he would get picked so left him on the bench and didn’t even put the ‘E’ on him. Had work Friday night and came back to see my man Yarran a late withdrawl and Krak somehow in! 119 sitting on the bench without being an emergency.
My 2nd highest scorer was the cheapest guy in my team, says a lot, it was L. Thompson from Adelaide. Great choice to get rid of Otten for him.
Will be upgrading Duigan as I think he’s too fat and juicy now and he’ll stay around that price now and will bring in either Johncock or Deledio, maybe someone else.
My decision to not pick Gibbs is starting to pay off. Was shattered I didn’t pick him after his 3 tonnes in a row in the first three weeks but his inconsistency is starting to show now.
Can’t wait to get back to the H2H games this week!

Krakouer and Pendlebury came through and pushed me past 2k!

Might have to ride the Gibbs, Goodes and N Riewoldt train until the end… They have to come good eventually!

Nice to have Rockliff and Foley both scoring consistently now. Not sure what Grundy’s status is right at the moment… hope it’s not too serious! Enright is waiting in the wings just in case…

    Can’t believe I went up 3690 places to 12197.
R Murphy (112) justified his selection.
Swan (104) confirms sticking with Cox at VC was definitely the right move.
BumKrak goes to Krak-a-Jack (119) but had him on the pine!
Broughton, Pavlich, Sandilands, Franklin, Selwood, Higgins, Lower, Krakouer all to come back next week. Only Swan out with the Collingwood bye.

Lesson from this week, don’t listen to mid week speculation about who might be playing. Don’t bother trying to guess who the subs will be. Just pick your best team and ride the bumps.

  28. The bye is the anus & the sub rule is the dildo that f**ks us all…..sum may hav the lube of the DPP….but either way it still hurts.
Bet everyone’s glad this rounds over….bet most peeps will be waitin till port adelaide bye 2 show off their teams due to the fact that many will hav full sides (cuz face it…who really has a power player on their team? maybe max just the one).
stoked that pickin up j.riewoldt & L.thompson paid off…..not glad that i left krak arse on the pine & put matera on.

even with a weakish score of 2069….still broke thru to 42 from 160

dont really hav a strategy in terms of stayin within the pack 4 overall win but interested 2 know wat other coaches thoughts/advice is.
good luck 2 all u other coaches….may all ur trades be wise trades 🙂

  29. Wow, went up from 5,088 to 3,306 in the overall comp with a sub 2000 score! Only lost 29 points on the overall leader too.
    That was unexpected!

  30. WOW! I went up 7,385 spots to 6,668. 4 weeks ago I was ranked 41k!! The LoEC went up 8 spots as well to 78. Well done lads!

  32. Under 2000 for the first time in 4 years. 1932 which after sipping a few bourbons forgot about my side’s score. Felt a bit like the poor ole Power, but still feel happy to be overall ranked in top 115. Oh well bring on this week for both my side’s supercoach and Power and I know the Power have been knocked from pillar to post but something the late Jack Oatey once said about Port Adelaide (Motts will know who he is) which I never forget said “Don’t ever underestimate Port Adelaide”, well I have a funny feeling they might cause an upset this Friday night against the Hawks. They always go alright at AAMI against ’em. If I’m wrong lads I’ll be the first to say.

Should we trade this week – NRoo, Duigan, Gibbs?

  34. Scored sub 2000 (1986) but also went up in the overall ranking to 2866 from about 4000… there must have been some real carnage at the top this week. I saw at these last two bye weeks as an opportunity to make some ground… but it seems the juggling act never ends – I have both swan and pendles out this week coming.

  35. 1900 on the nose, pretty poor result. Rueing the day I left krak on the bench with T. Walker, B. Matera, L. Tapscott, N. Riewoldt, A. Didak on the field.

On Didak, he has been a massive failure, my biggest faulter of this year by far. Was hoping he might have made a bit of cash up in the last 3 weeks but has only gone further downhill. Trading him off ASAP.

  36. Swan’s 198 B/E after losing his 163 from Rd 4 going into the Geelong game should make him very tasty come Rd 9/10 for us original non-believers.

  37. Isaac Smith, Richardson and Pederson all made the best players in the VFL over the weekend. Pederson also kicked 3 so hopefully they are grooming him for a swingman type role to release Petrie for ruck backup or replace Hansen/Wright/McMahon etc.

  38. Does anyone think the NVolt > Chappy trade is worth it.
Will have to downgrade Duigan to Thompson to get Chappy
Or would it be better to upgrade Merrett to anyone i like. Not sure who would be the best pick. Anyone got any ideas??

  39. 1966 🙁
Not to bad compared to others in my leagues, had some people avg’ing
    2200 get 1600!!!
Duigan is out this week, BE of 86. Made me 160k. Happy with that.
    L.Thompson!!!! Happy with that man.
    Hibberd was solid, thank god!

Only worry is the downgrade options, theres a few but there all big risks.

Bewick, Irons & Richardson are all on notice, get a gig or hit the road!

  40. score of 2077 saw me jumpr from rank 41k 10 19l overall (rank of 2839 for the round) – shows how bad the round must have been.

Anyone gonna downgrade to Wallis? scores havent been flash; not sure on his JS

Duigan could be gone too — but for who ???

  41. 1778

    Round to forget.
    > Dropped 550 points on last weeks efforts
    > Copped a defensive doughnut
    > Only six managed to crack the ton and two of them were on the pine (Krakouer 119) and (Knights 121)
    > Most disappointed with Riewoldt 47, ROK 65, Petrie 68, Gibbs 69, A Swallow 85

Will wield the axe later in the week

  42. 1,818 – definitely one to forget,

Happy with Krak, Cox, Darling, Deledio.
Less than impressed with Goodes, Roo, Gibbs, Dawes and Richo’s 0.

  43. With Swan and Pendlebury out this week, who to put as captain?

Sandilands might be a chance…playing against Richmond and their ruckmen.

  44. 1937, with a donut in the FWDs. With Broughton, Lower, Selwood, Franklin, Pavlich, Sandi (and hopefully Higgins but I read this morn he was doubtful) to return to their regular spots, I’m in for a big score increase :D. Oh, and first score <2100:(

  45. What’s news on broughton? I see he’s indefinite but heard nothing else. Do we trade him out? Or wait?

  46. Guess I should shift this to the right thread….

    Yeah, that was horrible.

1906 – obvious lemons: Goodes, Gibbs, Smith, Matera, Tapscott and meh scores from pretty much everyone else. Dropped out of the top 1000 but only just. 1084

Lids, Massive, Darling – take the week off lads, but have a word to the rest of the boys on the way out.

PS. free pipes for the KrakBaby after holding my nerve and sticking with him, fully expecting a donut.

  47. KoJack out for 4-6 weeks with torn ankle ligaments. Doi-gan survives another week. Looks like Joelwood will make his long-awaited return to The Phat Side this week together with Chappy. Just in time for the Cats to feast on the Roos at the Cattery (sorry RB). Also more time to assess Doi-gan replacements.

  48. no clue why i kept everitt in the team. bad mistake..

since everyone is offloading duigan as well, would a:

    duigan > thompson
    everitt > duffield

    be okay?

just a side note, but what do people think about picking up harry taylor? bargain price at only 316k..

  49. 2089

    rank now is 1052 jumped 3,000 places…..

has swan as captain and not Cox…..

swan will now drop in price and will now trade him out for Mundy…… byes and subs play such an important factor this season and we are seeing it especially this week and i guess also next.

    thoughts?

  53. I got a reasonable 2036.

My round super 6 team got a 2267, which was 51st for the round. Although, I made 3 major blunders:
1: naming W Johnson (14) of St K, when in my other team I brought in L Thompson (127).
2: Naming GAJ as captain. He racked up 30 possies, but all the points went to the dons.
3: Not checking the weather before Carl/Syd game. With it teaming it down, should have taken out Goodes and ROK.

Might see if my daughter wants to have a team for round 16, and my unborn for round 19.
