I don’t really want to but into the Selwood debate, but a few things should be made clear….
1. He is possibly the hardest player/midfielder at-the-ball in the AFL…. Maybe Lenny the only rival.
2. His attack on the ball, and disregard for personal safety is why he ‘earns’ any free’s….. eg. See Round 1
3. He is a Gun player….. and no coincidence the Cats run began the same season he started.
4. If anyone says the umpires favor him, and give him free’s that aren’t there….. Then I still fail to see how that has anything to do with Selwood when the decision is the Umpires!
5. This whole “playing for frees” thing was started by Dermie last year when he wrote an article and went on the radio saying he played for free’s…. prob because Derm wants to keep his self alocated hardest-at-it title…. which would actually go to Leigh Mathews anyway.
Whilst Buddy is a superstar, has anyone else noticed when he has any contact from behind when leading up for the ball he throughs out his arms (6ft wing span) to get a free….. yet no one says he plays for frees (which they shouldn’t)….. maybe Derm should write an article…..
If anyone wants to whinge about bad free’s, the Montagna 80m deliberate is one of the worst I have ever seen…. and I can prob pick out 10 completely ‘incorrect’ decisions each week made by umpires which are way worse than any 50/50 decisions folks like to focus on!

I’ll pay that PA. The umpires need to be more aware of the tactics used and I know Selwood is far from the only culprit.
When he does his little shoulder shrug and duck forcing the tackler’s arms over his shoulder the umpires need to see that and play it on.
Same with leading head first at opponents. So many players have cottoned onto this one and thankfully there seems to have been a trend over the last few weeks for the umpires to let it go. It’s almost as if common sense is coming into play
As far as the cheat call goes I retract all previous statements. I’ve let myself, my family, my club and most importantly the fans of our great game down and for that I apologise.
It’s just sometimes the Fish gets sick of being on the wrong side of the river bank and likes to do some baiting of his own and just sometimes…….it works really well

The free kick count doesn’t show who are the cheats – it shows which team play outside of the rules…
If you try to grab a guy’s head 6 times a match it should cost you 6 free kicks awarded to that player – especially in his 100th game!!

Just been sitting here working out how im going to bring in swanny after the next bye and noticed something interesting.
He is either getting more attention from opposition or is underperforming against better sides,
In his 7 games, he has avg’d around 158 against port,north and richmond, but only about 102 against dogs,dons,blues and cats.
Could be that theyre just harder games to play in but from what I gather big games never bothered him before.
PS: Im not taking anything away from the fact his overall avg is still 130 odd!

GAJ fell a bit short of 200, 198!!!! great effort though. im interested in this TJ Lynch kid (great name!). his a 199cm key fwd, normally i would never pick a 1st season key fwd but seriously, the kid has some skills and at pretty much 200cm, his a handfull for any fullback. luke thommo had a quiet one, waiting on benny jacobs to play tonight to see if his any good.

Thomas Lynch (GCS) – 2nd game – nailed it again with 82 (Avg 88.5).
Could be nearly time to milk Matera and turn him into Lynch. Make about 150K on the downgrade plus Lynch will make a top gain after his 3rd game. Surely he’ll make cash faster than Matera from now on and he’ll most likely be warming the bench anyway.
