SC Racing – Week 3

Written by Motts on October 16 2020

Round 2 of Supercoach Racing has been run and won and the SCTalk Racing League did very well overall again being ranked 136 of 3,624. Let’s keep that up and remember to be in the running for the overall prize to add @SCT to the end of your team name. We have 9 stables in the top 1,000 overall so think it’ll be a very competitive challenge for the prize. If you haven’t joined yet, the league code is 907361.

As always, note that the below is purely based off Supercoach value and Supercoach options and is in no way shape or form my betting preview of the races.

Very tough week this week with only two capacity field group 1s for the older horses meaning we will need to look a lot deeper this week to fill our stable. Think my tactic this week will be to try my luck picking one horse from each of the group 1s and then fill the rest of my stable with others.

Randwick Race 7 – (Supercoach Group 1) Everest

Firstly, what a race this is looking to be and it really is wide open. In terms of options I think Classique Legend ($375,000) looks the best value for money option but if you have cash to splash then Nature Strip ($500,000) is a great option as well. Outside of them I could make a case for Gytrash ($425,000), Behemoth ($350,000) and Libertini ($325,000).

Caulfield Race 9 – Group 1 Caulfield Cup

The first of the major features of the spring and we have a highly competitive capacity field. I would not talk anyone out of any horse in this race but IMO the three best options are (in no particular order) Anthony Van Dyck ($475,000), Verry Elleegant ($500,000) and Master of Wine ($375,000). There are plenty more options outside of these three, so it is a great race to go away from the crowd and make up some valuable points with your pick of the race.

Best of the Rest

Think we will see some very different looking stables this week but here are some potentially good options outside of the group 1s…

Alfa Oro ($200,000) looks a great option as a short-priced favourite in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint and although max points aren’t up for grabs may be a safe captaincy option for the week as well.

Think the ever-consistent Felicia ($275,000) is a good option in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes.

The best of the cheap options this week include It’s Me ($100,000), Starelle ($100,000) and Rainbiel ($100,000)

All the best for week 3 everyone and would be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on their strategy for the week, as well as captaincy and bench options.

  1. Great write up FroffersHanners

I am running with Classique Legend as Captain and Libertini from the Everest. Only 1 runner in the Caulfield Cup eiither Anthony Van Dyck or Verry Elleegant all depending on the rain and track rating.
Alfa Oro a must have Group 2 runner and I will fill the rest of my stable with Group 3 horses.

  2. ‘Afternoon all.

Trying to stay points focused and not getting dollar deluded when selecting tips is the go.

I have selected Classique Legend in the Everest, but nothing in the cup.
‘Took two horses in all the small fields, and the short priced ones in the others.
I did this last week and got 308 points so hopefully it’ll work again this week.

Note: Caulfield Cup game to play; Pick a horse from each 1/3 of field numbers.
Then pick a horse from each 1/3 of the 18 running barriers. (1-6, 7-12, and 13-18)
….and yes you may have some similarities (clue to a bet???)
    Cheers and good luck all!
