We’re down to four now with my complete inability to read the tea leaves meaning I got 1 out of 4 in my quarter final predictions. Not surprising really when you look at my lowly overall SC position! Since I’m a shambles at predicting these results I’m going to straighten up a little and delve into facts rather than wild speculation. No tips and no betting market this time round ‘cause it’s just plain old not right anyway. But enough of me and onwards and upwards to the SCT Cup Quarter Final results and Semi Final H2Hs.

QUARTER FINAL RESULTS

(1) Beckyistheman@SCT 2582 + 2347 = 4929 WIN

(8) Kovanator 2466 + 2418 = 4884 LOSE by 45pts

(2) Wedonotoforgive@SCT 2596 + 2260 = 4856 WIN

(7) Nudelsuppe@SCT 2507 + 2244 = 4751 LOSE by 105pts

(3) Rock Coaches 2466 + 2372 = 4838 LOSE

(6) Led Heppellin 2594 + 2453 = 5047 WIN by 209pts

(4) Treloar and Order 2350 + 2452 = 4802 WIN

(5) The Designated SC 2427 + 2340 = 4767 LOSE by 35pts

FIRST SEMI FINAL

(1) Beckyistheman@SCT: 22nd overall, 2nd in the SCT group AND leading the @SCT cash prize

vs

(4) Led Heppellin: 518th overall, 30th in the SCT group

Beckyistheman@SCT

DEF: Lloyd, Hurn, Williams, Ryan, Sicily, Crisp [Naish, Coffield]

MID: Neale, Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Bont, Oliver, Merrett, Sloane [Clarke, Cameron (WCE), Bewley]

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn [Clarke]

FWD: Dunkley, Dangerfield, Kelly, Walters, Heeney, Cameron (GWS) [Gardner, Bines]

Cracking squad, particularly if they picked up the likes of Sicily, Crisp, Merrett and Sloane at the right price point. Round 22 will be the next point that Coffield plays before Naish with enough time to try a defensive loophole. Having defensive bench coverage could be vital this week with old man Hurn battling Father Time and the winds of change to get up for his Saturday twilight clash with North. In the mids they’re all playing so there’s no loopholing with Clarke a really strong emergency score, particularly against the Witches Hats this weekend. Becky’s even managed to score some ruck coverage if Zachariah and his bandaged leg recover from illness to take the field. Up fwd it’s the who’s who of the SC fwd line with Jeeza’s rollercoaster scoring profile a downer. Also, no bench coverage is a huge area of concern, particularly if Becky is scant for trades.

Led Heppellin

DEF: Lloyd, Whitfield, Hurn, Williams, Laird, Sicily [Logue, Naish]

MID: Neale, Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Oliver, Treloar, Yeo, M Crouch [Clarke, Scott, Hind]

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn [Bines]

FWD: Dunkley, Dangerfield, Boak, Marshall, Kelly, Heeney, [Hanrahan, Young]

Some interesting PODs over Becky’s team in Treloar, Yeo, Boak Marshall and Whitfield. Could come off but I’d prefer Becky’s picks in the mids but inside the 50’s I’d personally favour Heppellin’s selections. I guess Heppellin never got around to doing anything with Scott when he got dropped then hurt his foot. We all have that one person each season that just remains in the team ‘cause they’re not worth wasting a trade on dealing with. Down back, Hurn’s fitness is a concern with Logue as coverage. In the mids there’s decent coverage in Clarke but unlikely to want to loophole him against the premium midfielders. Big 2 in the ruck then up forward there’s coverage but nothing you’d want to rely upon for a one week injury/suspension.

SECOND SEMI FINAL

(2) wedonotforgive@SCT: 36th overall, 3rd in the SCT group and 135pts behind in the @SCT cash prize

vs (3) Treloar and Order: 400th overall, 25th in the SCT group

wedonotforgive@SCT

DEF: Lloyd, Hurn, Williams, Ryan, Sicily, Milera [Logue, Naish]

MID: Neale, Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Bont, Oliver, Sloane, M Crouch [Stack, Clarke, Stocker]

RUCK: Grundy, Lycett [Bines]

FWD: Dunkley, Dangerfield, Boak, Kelly, Heeney, Worpel [Setterfield, Burgess]

36th in the overall. I’m clearly doing something wrong with my team. This team feels not quite finished at D6 and F6. Benefit I guess of D6-D8 is that Logue and Milera successfully ….. but not this week with Naish locked out on Friday night. Will be interesting to see if Milera or Logue get the nod at D6 this week. If Hurn misses they both get a guernsey anyway. Stack at M9 is super useful but with such a quality midfield it’s more about bench coverage for when the likes of Fyfe miss a game here or there. No Gawn here which is a point of difference from many ruck set ups. Up front Worpels’ score has to count with no loophole options. I’m tipping that wedonot would quietly like Burgess to have a rest for the remainder of the season to maximise the team’s scoring potential.

Treloar and Order

DEF: Lloyd, Hurn, Stewart, Laird, Sicily, Smith [Logue, Naish]

MID: Neale, Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, Treloar, JPK, Gaff, B Crouch [Clarke, Hind, Stocker]

RUCK: Grundy, ROB [Bines]

FWD: Dangerfield, Boak, Marshall, Kelly, Walters, Heeney [Parker, Gardner]

WOW. As far as unique and alternate SuperCoach teams go this one’s up there. And gosh dammit I love it in all its unique curiosity. Missing some super common players (Dunkley, Gawn, Fyfe) and rolling with some far less common options in JPK and Gaff. Time will tell if that’s ballsy or clumsy. Down back there’s Hurn to potentially navigate like all other semi finalists with Logue solid D7 cover. Naish, again, is useless this round due to a Friday night fixture for Richmond. In the mids, there’s the aforementioned PODs with Clarke as emergency like in many of our teams. ROB’s going strong for T & O at R2. Up the front half it’s probably T & O’s strongest line and that’s even factoring in no Dunkley. No fwd cover is a mighty concern, something Treloar could look to fix up IF he’s got trades up his sleeve.

That’s not it though with the non-winners getting shuffled off Broadway into the minor semi finals. They don’t get a write up though nor do they even get BOLD. In fact they’re lucky they even got CAPS. That’s the price of mediocrity and obscurity. It’s kinda like a Gold Coast game each weekend. It happens but does it really?

MINOR SEMI FINAL ONE

(5) Rock Coaches 99th overall vs (8) Kovanator 1752th overall

MINOR SEMI FINAL TWO

(6) The Designated SC 637th overall vs (7) Nudelsuppe@SCT 1455th overall

  2. Moore’s 13 points really hurt in week 1, but it was a fun ride while it lasted.
    Congrats Beckyistheman and good luck.

  3. Hi RB I’m the coach of Wedonotforgive@SCT. Thanks for all the hard work running the comp. I’m going for highest overall finish possible and this has just been a bonus. I have 5 trades left and at this stage planning Hurn and Stack out, Howe and Gawn in leaving me $66k
