SCT Cup 2020

Written by The Salamander on March 18 2020

The ever popular SCT Cup is back for 2020!

For the uninitiated, the competition works as follows:

1. First, there is a qualifying period over the first few rounds of the season.

2. The qualifying teams teams are seeded based on their overall ranking, with the number highest seed matched up with the lowest, the second highest with the second-lowest, and so on.

3. For each matchup, the higher-scoring team progresses through to the next round, while the other is eliminated.

4. Repeat step 2.

5. Eventually, the competition comes down to just two teams, who face off in the Grand Final.

Matchups normally normally go across two rounds, but, due to the shortened season this year, a couple will only go for one round.

Entering your team is easy. If you’re in the official SuperCoachTalk group, you’re already entered. If you’re not, you can join with the following code: 820497.

How to qualify:

The top 8 from last year (Led Heppellin, Treloar and Order, Wedonotoforgive@SCT, Beckyistheman@SCT, Rock Coaches, Nudelsuppe@SCT, The Designated SC, and Kovanator – exact order TBC) automatically qualify, get a bye for the first round, and will be the top 8 seeds for the second round. If you are the coach of one of these teams and have changed your team’s name for 2020, please let me know in the comments.

For the rest of us, the top 240 non-automatic-qualifiers in the SCT Group after round 3 will qualify, and be seeded accordingly.

Fixture:

Rounds 1 to 3: Qualifying

Round 4: Round of 240

Rounds 5 and 6: Round of 128

Rounds 7 and 8: Round of 64

Rounds 9 and 10: Round of 32

Rounds 11 and 12: Round of 16

Rounds 13 and 14: Semi-Finals

Rounds 15 and 16: Preliminary Finals

Round 17: Grand Final

Best of luck to all involved!

  1. Thank you so much for taking over the SCT Cup Salamander. It’s great to see the comp still going ahead. It’s a mountain of work, especially the earlier rounds where there’s soooo many teams so i feel for you when those early rounds kick in. Brilliant stuff mate!!

    1. Thanks!

While you’re here, can you just confirm the exact order of last year’s final 8 for me?

      1. I’ll do my best but i don’t fully know. Led Heppellin is the #1 seed and defending champion with Treloar and Order the number 2 seed. Treloar and Order is a pretty common team name so make sure you’re following Robbie’s team. Those two I definitely know. The other’s i’m not 100% on but i’ve got an idea. Wedonotoforgive@SCT was leading by 227pts over Beckyistheman@SCT heading into the 2nd week of the bronze medal match so i’d back Wedonoforgive@SCT as #3 and the #4 seed as Beckyistheman@SCT. 5th and 6th were neck and neck so I’m not sure about Rock Coaches vs Nudelsuppe@SCT but Schwarz may know. Kovanator had a big lead in his 7th/8th game so 7th seed goes there and 8th goes to The Designated SC.

Wish i could be more concrete on things but the final SCT Cup round last year hit at a SUPER busy time with work last year. Hope this info helps.
