SSSS’s Draftees 2011

by Motts on July 29, 2010

We here at SCT are proud to welcome our newest scribe today. 4S has generously offered to analyse the young guns that are coming through the ranks of the U18 championships to assist you with the rookies you’ll need to be drafting in next year. Take it away, champ!

This is my first post for the year i’d like to kick things off by thanking Motts, Duck and Big Sexy for this opppurtunity.

My first post is basically a lowdown of (in my opinion) the first 3 picks going into the draft at this stage. I will basically give you a lowdown of position, club and form, also U18 champs form.

1.David Swallow (GC), We all know he will be going there whether it be pick 1, 2 or 3

Club – Gold Coast

Height – 186cm

Weight – 83kg

Age – 18

Position – Midfielder

Form (past 3 games) – 1. 1.3 goals, named in best    2. 2.1 goals, best on ground   3. No goals, Not in best players

i. Perfect body shape, should play every game for Gold Coast barring injury.

2.Sam Day (GC)

Club – Sturt (Ed: Motts’ loves the Double Blues! – same team Jack Trengove came out of)

Height – 196cm

Weigh t- 94kg

Age – 18

Position – Forward (Key Position)

Form – 1.  1 goal 5th best for his team, (Sturt) 2.  1 goal, not named in best, (SA)    3.   2 goals, not named in best (SA)

i.Poor (only 1 good game) U18 Champs carnival, Great key forward prospect, also has recorded a vertical jump of 81cm (3cm more than Nic Nat), also recorded the 2nd best sprint time back in January at the AIS

3. Harley Bennell (GC)

Club – Peel Thunder (WAFL)

Height – 194cm

Weight – 99kg

Age – 18

Position – Mid/Fwd

Form – 1.  1.3 goals, 24 disposals    2.    3.2 goals, 12 disposals      3.   2.1 goals, 16 disposals

i.Won the Larke medal, for best division 1 player at the U18 Champs carnival. His ability to kick both goals and get a ton of possessions is what should make him your first rookie pick next year.

Thanks SSSS. Nice start, and welcome to the team. Will be re-reading these when I’m setting my team up next year.

Two questions:
1) What does SSSS stand for?
2) If it isn’t anything, or anything good (subjective I know), would you consider a name change? Perfer you didn’t go with “sexier than Big Sexy” like one of our readers :)
