Sunday Arvo Games – R9, 2013

Written by MJ on May 26 2013

Hawthorn V Gold Coast (MCG) – Gary Ablett, Jaeger O’Meara and Lance Franklin will be cheered on by many in the early match today. Grant Birchall, Jarryd Roughead and Sam Mitchell also have more than 10% ownership, and their coaches will be expecting big returns against the Suns, but will Gold Coast continue their good form with a competitive performance against the Premiership favourites? Seeing as Motts started giving his tips yesterday, I’ll follow suit with today’s games. My tip: Hawthorn by 45

North Melbourne V Adelaide (Etihad) – Should be the most closely fought contest of the day. A crucial match for both sides who are currently outside the 8. North can ill afford to go 3-6 by dropping this one. How will Boomer go in his 3rd game? How many picked him up this week? My tip: North Melbourne by 10

Fremantle V Melbourne (PS) – Melbourne were a little better against Richmond last week, but you can’t see them putting up much of a fight against the Dockers over in Perth. I’ve seen a couple of people running with Nat Fyfe as captain this week. Fair selection considering he went massive with 151 points against the Dees last season! Not too much SC relevance in this game, with Fyfe the only premium with over 10% ownership. Are you relying on one of the Melbourne rookies in Terlich, Evans or Gawn to pump out a big one for a league win? My tip: Fremantle by 72

  2. MSCFS!!! any chance of beating the one opponent I really wanted to beat this round has just gone out the window thanks to bloody Birchall ), I’m with you JB probably also the worst tade I have made this year,(except for maybe Daisy and Walker, but at least they had injuries to blame) bought bloody Bircall after his stellar start to the year in Round 5 and he has gone on to lose me $130k and stink up the scoreboard, but this is the worst! Lucky I have no trade ability right now because he would be GONE!!!!

    Rant over.

  3. Oh well, I did have 3 close league games but felt comfortable that I’d get over the line in 2 of the 3 leagues…………….not now, being forced to take a poultry 34 as an (E) for Birchall being a late out!

    🙁 $HIT HAPPENS!

  8. Think GAJ is trying to prove to me that no matter what my vc scores that I should still back him in as captain.

  10. Need Kerridge and Dangerfield to score less than 200 combined to beat last place in my main league. Kerridge starting well, and Danger looks promising.

Going to be an embarrassing week at work if I lose this match….

All poor scores by their standards, could’ve scored a lot more if they performed to their averages. Sadly that’s not the case. Luckily Ablett, Watson, Bartel, Montagna and Newman stepped up, all above 120 points. Keeping Newman these past 3 weeks has been a good decision for me, with scores of 125, DNP and 123. If he keeps up these scores of 110+ could be a very handy POD come the latter half of the season. Staker is a certain trade in target next week too. All is looking good, 4/4 leagues look in the bag too which is good.

  17. I paid $80k too much for him and I’ve got him sitting on the bench opting to go with Kommer’s 79, but I’m loving Sam Kerridge’s work. He’ll be in mine and Sando’s team for the rest of the year.

  20. Getting in early with this question –
What do you guys think the job security for the Geelong boys will be like over the next few weeks? In particular Stevie J, Stokes, Bartel and other top scores? They have gold coast and GWS before their bye. I’m thinking of bringing in stokes or Stevie J next week. Bad move?
