Anyone noticed how many fewer players there are in Supercoach this year compared to the same time last year?
As I write this, there are 326,792 people with Supercoach teams. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t this number a hell of a lot closer to 400,000 last year?
I’ve got my suspicions about the reasons for the decline but what do you believe has caused the drop off?
Meanwhile, Dream Team has 247,563 people with teams playing – this seems to be down too. Can anyone confirm?

I think people are put off by the paywall and maybe finally people are playing a real fantasy football competition over at Ultimate Footy. first year I havent done a SC or DT side.
I, for one, was unaware until this season that the rules stated, you can only have 1 team per person. So I’m a -1 from the 400k+, I recon there’s more like me.
I’m pretty sure it’s due to the pending introduction of the Carbon Tax!
I’m not complaining. More chance of winning the 50k!!
I think there’s still are some slow coaches (pun intended) who haven’t sign up yet.
I know a lotta blokes who just don’t have the time anymore.
That spare hour a day I had for supercoach is now gone because we put the clocks back an hour on Sunday morning. Sorry guys. Too busy
Does it really matter if there is not as much people doing it this year than last year.
I wouldn’t be disappointed, there still is 326, 792 people.
You’ll probably find 10-15 thousand teams will join weekly as they try & snag the weekly prize by adding random sides weekly.
You haven’t mentioned your suspicions Motts. What is your conspiracy theory?
Last year finished with about 380k players im pretty sure
I don’t really feel like it’s down, but I feel like there has been less advertising on SuperCoach this year. Also, no little black book.
Considering how many double teams there are the number will be a lot less
I think with no free to air nab cup there wasn’t as much build up to the season, I usually spend a lot more time on my team but this year there wasn’t quite the same buzz!
Off topic but are we going to run a punting thread this week? The first game is tom night and I am already down a $20 this year (thank you very much Port Adelaide I hope my Bombers smash you by 60 plus on Saturday) and will be looking to recoup on another multi this week. I will be doing another 20 on Blues>Dons>Freo>WC>Pies>Crows>North>Saints(not entirely confident GG)>Hawks. The odds are fairly one sided apart from the Hawks v Cats and Swans v Dockers but that run should get about $180 if it comes in and then I can use it for the following week.
Getting in early Juddy, I like the below for this week
Blues win 1-39 $2.25
WCE win 60+ $2.50
Bulldogs 30.5 point head start $1.92
North win 40+ $1.11
Hawks win $1.50
$20 for a $359 return
I got 5 of those teams, so at a guess(with the diehards such as meself) theres maybe 50k ppl playin this year! lol
Wondering where that injury update is..
The wall will make me jump ship, it’s annoying and I won’t be paying, going to start a draft league next year instead. Similar to the American tv show The Leaugue , you should check this show out its superb and you should be able to relate to it as supercoach addicts.
Around 1500 new coaches have joined this week #justsayin
