    Pretty much sums up don’t make any trades until the final teams are out (Thurs/Fri arvo).

  2. Walk away now .. it will become an all consuming passion that you can’t switch off from. GET OUT WHILE YOU HAVE YOUR SANITY!!

  3. As much as we all bag it out, when I first started SC, the black book was incredibly helpful.
    It helped with my emergancies, stratagies, and plain selection.
    Now, it seems kind of useless, but if your new to the game, i suggest you pick it up.

  4. Don’t make trades just because you “have” to beat the person you are playing that round,
    I did that all through my first year, by round 18 all my trades were gone.

  5. Remain objective and be careful about:
    – overrating the scoring potential of players from your club and conversely underrating players from clubs you hate (Collingwood);
    – overrating players who made you plenty of cash last year (and invariably will have second year blues or are now fairly priced and no longer moo);
    – confusing players that have a history of injury as opposed to those that have had an unfortunate LTI;
    – signing a prenuptual agreement WITHOUT allocating flexible and significant hours to SC analysis.

  6. For a league win, start with the end in mind, map out who u want in the team come finals, allow for unforseen injuries and poor performance, dont panic as form fluctuates and hold tight on pulling the trigger too quick on trades, save at least 5 trades for your finals campaign if you are top 4 and make sure you have bench cover in each possy, no matter how low they average as 20ppg game is better than a donut in finals. The last 2-3 years teams have rested 2-3 stars on the eve of finals, in our s’coach Semi, prelim or GF. Its the guys with the most back up players that ends up getting over the line in the GF.

    ok so maybe thats a few but this game is so multi layered its hard to settle on piece of advice. good luck!

  8. @ Rhys….win the money? u wont even win the minor league with that team….i would tear that team apart but just looking at it is pretty self explanatory…..lil bit of advice here….uve loaded up 2much on backline & uve put not even hope more a miracle that a 4ward line like that will get u a round one supercoach league win. ur starting ruckmen is probably the one good positive decision u hav made.

  9. Pick your team with players that are all going to be on the ground at the very least and hold onto your trades as much as you can.

  11. Think about the End Goal…. come finals, you want to have had rookies or mid-pricers that have gone up in price, and then cashed-in for another rookie throughout the season…. banking the money for a premium. The End Goal come finals is to have a team of “Premiums” on the field and fit. So it’s just how you get there.

    Also, always get you rookie after he has played two games (and about to jump in price) and has been ‘named’ to play his third game.

    Writing this makes me think I should go away and come up with my dream-team… my end-goal… cos’ if I have someone who isn’t gona help me get there, then I should re-think my strategey.

  12. Don’t get sucked into trading out a premium after they throw in one really bad game.. ie Brent Harvey last year.
    You picked them as a gun for a reason give them a little slack for a bad game, you only want to trade your gun players due to injury.

  13. You gotta have a few mids rangers that in your opinion are gonna be the points of difference to everyone else. Anyone with half a brain can copy a team from sites like this and at least have a semi decent start but it’ll be those mid rangers that hopefully score when everyone around you isn’t, also the copy and paste option will work for round 1, after that you do actually need to know when to hold em’ or when to fold em!

  14. Ignore all logical advice given above! Seriously! Yes, it’s all true and will help you avoid silly mistakes. But the only way you’ll TRULY LEARN is to actually make these mistakes and suffer the consequences for yourself. So if this is your first time at SC – go nuts! Have fun, trade like crazy on Monday mornings, give Kepler Bradley the captaincy, whatever you want. Just make sure you learn from as many mistakes as you possibly can and you’ll be a better coach for it.

  15. Don’t get sucked into hype! Watch as many games as you can (even if o/s) for yourself and make your own decisions.

    Don’t pick any Collingwood players. Ever. You never want to have to find yourself barricking for the ba$tards. Could also apply to Carlton, Essendon, St Kilda, Adelaide, Port Adelaide…

  16. Hi guys,
    Great site you have here, i don’t know where my super coach team is at if i like it, if i don’t. Think i need some outside advise because this has consumed all my spare time ( and most of my work time).
    Backs- Gibbs,goddard,gilbee,grimes,hurly,ottens,heppell. EMG-talia,dare,puopuolo.
    Mids-Judd, J Selwood,Pendelbry,Goodes,Higgins,D Swallow. EMG-Conca,Mitch Wallis, Hibberd.
    Rucks-K Tippett,Petrie. EMG Z Smith, M Bailey
    Forwards-N Riewoldt,buddy,Pavlich,stevie Johnson,Yarren,C Knights.EMG B matera,McKernan, darling.
    i know my rucks are struggling but i dont know what to change??
    Have i overloaded my back line???

  17. Last year it was all about the best scoring players. This year scoring rookies will also come into it because of the bye, and the necessity to change your team most rounds. You don’t want to use up trades on byes, so instead of overloading your team with expensive players, get a few rookies like Jared Polec and Reece Conca who are likely to play from R1.
    And take a punt on a few players whose value is expected to increase over the first few rounds and raise your salary cap. And reserve rucks, generally a cheap ruck option will be a first-year player and is not likely to play. A ruckman who is also a forward may get an early call-up, though.

  18. Can anyone give me there thoughts on Jackson Trrangove as a 2nd ruckman?? he had a ripping nab challenge and was a pretty solid first year player last year…is he worth a gamble as 2nd ruckman for a point of difference?
