  1. Thought pendles was a tad off last year plus he missed about 6 matches with a knee, really think he'”ll be in the top 3 this year a must have

  2. Had Pendles last year and prefer him as a footballer. However I am picking Swan this year. Last year Swanny looked lackluster in preseason and still gunned it in the season propper. If he is switched on this pre season, as the reports say, I am on!

  3. Pendles is in. Both would be great, but I had to choose between GAJ or Swan. GAJ won

Think Pendles is an easy M2. Think he’ll score better than last year

Swan gets a lot of the ball, but doesn’t use it as well a Pendles and he can go through low patches. Hoping to pick him up during the season at $600k

  4. i think swan will at years end average more, but pendlebury is better to start with as he is more consistent, and swan is usually one to be just ok before he goes insane after the bye weeks.
saying that, ive locked in both along with ablett.

  6. Actually surprised at the groundswell of support for Pendles. I would’ve thought that this poll would’ve been almost even. It’s Swan for me but both are SC elites.

  8. I think the quality of the other maggots around these two in the maggot midfield has more potential to cost Pendles points, even if it’s only 5. Swan plays the way he plays regardless of who is with or against. Sounds like he’s switched on too. Swan for mine.

  9. Get both, more quality rookie’s available in the midfield minimizes the need to have midpricer at M5. Having Ablett, Pendles, Swan, and JPK still enables you have quality elites on every line and fill the rest with rookies. You know you are going to want them in your team by the end of the year, why not start with them and save the trades needed to bring them in.

Yes, yes, their price will drop I hear you say but you are still going to have to burn 2 – 3 trades just to bring each of them in. If you start with them, it means that is 2 – 3 trades you won’t need to make, which puts you possible 4 – 6 trades ahead of someone who has to bring them in.

Use your trades to bring in players that have breakout years, you won’t need to “raise” as much cash to trade them in; meanwhile you still have Swan and Pendles pumping out 100+ scores each week.

    Seems logical?????

  11. I’m baaaaaaaack!

Select them both, sit back and watch the massive scores roll in my friends! Collingwood are going to be an irresistible, unstoppable and unbeatable juggernaut in 2013 and these two SC mon$ters will be rolling in the points. Sure our fixture is tough, but that won’t stop these beasts as the cream shall rise to the top. Hell, why not throw in Dayne Beams as a POD and you’ll be laughing all the way to the SuperCoach bank. Collingwood 2013… AWWWWWWWW BANG BANG! CHYOKE ON THAT BABAY!

  12. Pendles for me simply because he is a little cheaper and that allows me to use that cash elsewhere to hopefully beef up my side.

  13. Every pre-season while I’m researching my team, I try to stick with guys who are in the 23 – 28 year old category. These are the guys (particularly 25-28) who have both the experience and body to pump out consistently massive SC scores. Both Swan and GAJ are turning 29 this year which for me (given the way they have played their careers) poses potential risk for injury. For this reason I choose Pendlebury who has just turned 24 and entering his prime.

  14. It’s an obvious playbook move to go Ablett/Swan/Pendlebury trifecta and you can even throw Goddard/Franlkin in as no brainers lock and move on. However so does $$millions for 5 players.
NOW….Before everyone bags my comment and points out their obvious upsides in supreme points, my challenge is simply for you to select a team without these guys and see what team you come up with… ie depth, maybe some POD’s that you otherwise haven’t considered or couldn’t afford, then try to work one or two of these names back in.
Hard to do….like a salmon trying to swim downstream I know, but an interesting exercise at minimum and no cost to anyone yet…
I finished in top 4000 last year without these two pies in my team, which I hadn’t intended to experience. It was scary. This actually supports the lock n forget/save trades alternative. Having won with a stronger team the year before, I finished on top of my league in ’12 but went out in straight sets as my team ran out of trades due to the injuries killing me and the odd stupid kneejerk trade.
Ignore this completely……or have a play and suprise yourself. You still have a few sleeps before reverting back to safe town 🙂
