Table For Two – R20

Written by Motts on August 1 2019

Lunchtime on Thursday……time again for a Table For Two! Following on from 2UP over the pre-season, Table For Two helps you split those season-defining moves with the help of the Thumbs UP/DOWN function.

So what do you need sorted out? Keep or trade an injured premo? Best downgrade option ahead of this round? Hind or Clark on the ground? Goldstein or Dangerfield as VC? Best bar to go to after Carlton’s victory on Sunday?

Let us know in the comments below……..

  1. 1 trade left. Have to use it one Ryan. Got 452k to find a replacement, narrowed it down to:

T.U: Kade Simpson (if named at half-back again)

    T.D: Hunter Clark

    Comment: someone else

    1. Wow. 1:3 Clark’s way. No love for Simmo, eh? Back to half back last week, was all over it. Hmm.

      1. @GB…..i’m half with you on Simpson. Played a stellar game last week. I’ve brought him into my fantasy team cause I’m really only going H2H with a mate for cash. I’m very tempted to bring him into my SC team for Ryan. It’ll depend on lager amounts consumed on Saturday afternoon. I’m also considering Zak Jones

        1. Looked at Jones as well, Brad- but only 2 tons this year. If Simpson is in form and playing at half back again, he’s easily the pick of the bunch.

Question is was last week was anomalous or a return back to form. Argh.

If teamsheets have him at half back, I’ll probably go with him. Concerned Clark might be doing a Jy Simpkin-esque flash in the pan; popping off under the interim coach and then fading away a few weeks later.

          1. @GB….I’m not touching Clarke. Simpson is definitely on my list along with Jones. I’m only replacing Ryan and going for league wins. Not fussed with overall. Jones’ average and 3-5 round average are 2 points apart. That’s consistency right there. 80-90 from a D6 is worth the risk me thinks. Good luck with whatever you decide.

            1. Sound logic, Brad.

Saints’ run home is very soft though: Crows, Dockers, Blues, Swans.

Don’t know if that’s good for Clark, will the ball be down there that much? Not sure…

  2. 4 trades left $250K in the bank. Need to cover the Ryan injury. Other defenders are Lloyd, Hurn, Laird, Sicily and Smith. (Answerth and Rotham).

1 upgrade on field needed being Dylan Clarke at M8. Other mids are Macrae, Neale, Fyfe, Oliver, Cripps, Merrett and M Crouch. Full premo in forward line.

Should I trade Ryan to Whitfield and then upgrade Clarke to Heeney to be full premo?
Or bring in Rich/Stewart which would allow me to bring in a Yeo/Bont type for final mid spot.
Playing qualifying finals in all my leagues this week. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. If I break down your question, what we are considering is:
will Whitfield & Heeny score more than Bont & Rich/Stewart.

In my mind (I’m sure others will view differently):
Whitfield is good for about 105 to 110
Heeny is good for about 95 to 100
      = 200 to 210

      Bont about 110-115
      Stewart/Rich about 85-95
      = 195 to 210

Before I wrote down the numbers I thought the Bont option would come out the winner, but too close to call.

Personally, I would go with a 3rd option of Bont and Houli.
Houli’s average, 3 round average and 5 round average are all higher than Stewart/Rich.

      1. Thanks mate. IMO Whitfield may have a higher ceiling than Houli but Houli seems to be the safer option especially with Richmond’s run home and Heeney not getting much mid time with buddy out another couple of weeks. Appreciate the feedback! @Kovanator

  4. Last trade left.. Is Whitfield a must for finals or take a better mid and leave B Smith at d6.

    TU smith/Sicily to Whitfield
TD m crouch to bont/ Treloar

Can’t decide which way to go.. swaying towards upgrading mid, but need help.
    Thanks

      1. Holding might be the best option actually.. just thinking that some players might be out of reach $ wise. But I’ll deal with that later

  7. 2 trades left…Currently have Josh Kelly on the bench, is it worth trading him out as he appears to be injured for at least one more week?

No cover in Defence/Forward lines and finished 2nd in my league so I do have double chance.

Can afford any midfielder (Current mids are Macrae, Fyfe, Neale, Oliver, Cripps, Sloane, M. Crouch)

    TU: Hold
    TD: Trade
