Table For Two – Rd16

Written by Schwarzwalder on July 6 2017

Lunch time on Thursday……..time for a Table For Two!  Following on from Thommo’s 2UP over the pre-season, Table For Two helps you with those tough choices that you’ve been mulling over all week.

Bring in Witherden or Darcy this week?  Or both?  Will Selwood get up for the game against Brisbane?  Hold Newman for another week?  What’s up with Sloane & Rocky (asking for a friend)?  Vickery or Deledio (how well did the Tigers do there)?  Half-empty or half-full?  Whatever the question, our SCT Coaches are here to help.  Enter your players names into the Comments below and the SCT Coaches will guide you with the Thumbs UP/DOWN function.  Wishing you a massive score this weekend, Coaches!

  1. Trading out Beams this week and i only have 27k in the bank so i am unsure who to bring in. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices i think
    Whitfield and Parker

    Whitfield 524,900, avg 104.7, 3rd avg 119.3, 5rd avg 108.8
High score 130 against Geelong, Low score 74, Played 7, Ownership 1.5%
4 top 8 teams still to play

    Parker 510,400, avg 96.1, 3rd avg 112.3, 5rd avg 103.4
High score 129 against Melbourne, Low score 72, Played 14, Ownership 5.8%
4 top 8 teams still to play

Both high score came last week so they are in form and their low scores were 5 games ago, every score since then has been over 100 so either choice is good in my opinion but which do you think would be best

    TU Whitfield
    TD Parker

      1. IMO Parker has more upside:
        – He’s slowly getting back to his good form that he’s come to be known for.
        – More important player in the Sydney midfield as opposed to Whitfield who will have to share points with other guns running around.

  2. Only need to fill D6 and F6 and i’ve gone full r̶e̶t̶a̶r̶d̶ premo.

  3. TU: Riewoldt to Franklin ($203,700 remaining)
TD: Stewart to Gawn ($2,700 remaining)

    … with 5 trades left

    Current Rucks: Witts & Nankervis

  4. Nank currently at R2, Fyfe at M8

TU: Fyfe -> Titch (Nank at R2)
TD: Fyfe -> Gawn (Yeo at M8)

Either scenario, will attempt to finalise the R2 or M8 respectively in future weeks

  5. My dilemma lads – please help!

T/U: Higgins to Gawn (Nank comes to the forward line) this week via DPP and bring in Witherdren
T/D: Bring in Witherdren & Darcy this week and Higgins to Gawn next week via DPP.

      1. Yes possible, although, I’ll still have Higgins in the forward line who’s not performing too well and is in decline. Moreover, with the DPP option bringing Nank to the fwd provides me with Ruck cover just in case.

  6. Witherden comes in but who goes out?

UP – SPP (consistent scorer and good backup at M9)
DN – Berry (I like his DPP ability to be bench cover with Witherden)

    Comment – burn Scharenberg early.

    1. In almost the same position, having trouble pulling the trigger on Scharenberg when he’s made so little cash but when is he going to play again??

        1. To clarify … having trouble pulling the trigger but will go with the thumbs – Scharenberg out.

  7. Need cover for Greenwood, so Scooter is out via DPP for:

T/U – de Goey. He is starting to get some mid-time and will average 90+ here on in. POD!

T/D – look elsewhere pal. Maybe even a donut this week till JJK, Greene back on the park.

  8. I have two trades left. I also have Sandilands. I have $55,400 in the bank. I can therefore only afford a ruckman up to the value of $494,200, unless I use both of my remaining trades.

TU: Just use one trade, and get a cheap Sandilands replacement like Sean Darcy or Sam Jacobs.
TD: Use both trades, and turn T. Stewart into Witherden, and Sandilands into a recognized premium ruck, like Gawn or Ryder (we can discuss which one later).

    1. 2 trades left 😯 might be one of the first to the zero trades club. Last week was the first week where it was possible.

Do you have Nank that you can swing into the rucks for now and wait? You’d ideally want to be holding onto those trades. Further forced injury trades are bound to happen.

      1. I know, I know… I’m not thrilled about it either.

I do have Nankervis, but that would push Parsons onto the field, unless Greenwood is a late in.

          1. I suspect you’re probably right. Still, Sandilands has to go.

In any case, I should point out that some stupid, short-sighted trades I made in round 13 trying to salvage what was supposed to be my ‘good’ bye round has cost me a lot more than going hard and early did. That and Scott Selwood. Indeed, my go-hard, go-early strategy worked pretty well for the most part, and if it were not for a handful of needless trades I’d be in a much better position.

              1. Witherden would definitely be handy cover, but, given my trade situation, Kreuzer’s injury risk might be pushing it.

                1. Gawn coming back from soft tissue is just as risky.

But I agree, kinda the stage I guess you go for broke.

                  1. Hypothetically, if you had to pick between Darcy and Jacobs, and money was not an issue, who would you pick?

                    1. Jacobs every day of the week in your situation. No use having all that cash not used up in the bank.
I also saw Griffin has come into Freo’s 25 man squad for Spurr.
A proven performer over a rookie is a no brainer Jack IMO.

      1. Just reading Ross’ comments yesterday, it sounds like they’re hoping he’ll play finals for Peel in the WAFL. So, almost certainly no AFL this year.

  9. Ruck Dilema

Planned on waiting a week to see how Gawn went after being underwhelmed by his Sydney game (was unaware of a knee knock until reading it later). However Greenwood out may force me to move earlier than planned.

    T/U Gawn
    T/D Martin
Comments: Other rucks or leave nank in rucks and cop a parson score up forward and wait a week?
